    I think society puts too much emphasis on "coming out". Why do people have to tell the world their sexual preference? By doing this we are automatically drawing a line between gay and straight people. I am hoping that by the time I am an old shriveled up bag of bones people don't have to put themselves through so much mental anguish just tell the world they are gay.

      Not an act of violence, but an act of intolerance.

    • @niannalong4467
      @niannalong4467 5 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      If you're not harming anyone or attempting to then it isn't violence. But there's a difference between not being accepting of something and being violent towards it. You can have your preference of not being accepting of it but don't use that to spread harm or hate to others. As a lesbian, it doesn't bother me to know that someone doesn't like my sexual orientation. It has nothing to do with them and everyone has a right to their own opinions. It bothers me when someone uses that disapproval to make someone feel bad about themselves or to try and tell someone that they cannot be the way they are. I tried for years to change my sexual orientation, to no avail. I initially hated that side of me and was suicidal for a while because of it. I myself was homophobic. But I had a lot of spiritual experiences that led me to be at peace with myself and realize that I don't have to be hateful or violent and I can just let myself and others be as they are, free of judgement because as a Christian myself it is not my place to judge and only God has the power to do that and I don't feel a negative judgement to who I am. I don't know if you were interested in all that but I just wanted to give a genuine answer to your genuine question. I hope I helped 💕

    After being in abusive relationships and being extremely hurt physically and mentally, my mom said: I wouldn't blame you if you became a lesbian. 😲 No, mom, that's not how that works! My stepbro is gay. He nor his dad believe in God while I do. In some of the comments there's Christians asking about their core beliefs. My stepbro in his snarky mannered voice: Doesn't Jesus Christ say to love everyone? Judge not lest ye be judged? I know he'd been abused as a young boy prior to my mom moving my brother and I out west. (When you see fecal smears on the wall beside his bed, even as an 11yo I knew something wasn't right.) He was left with a housekeeper and her two sons as my stepdad had to travel for work. I have wondered if that can be mistaken as affection thus leading him to be gay. Or are you truly born that way. I don't understand it but that's because I am not gay.
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
    Even more baffling is the LGBTQ wanting acceptance yet in many documentaries, gay men despise lesbians and vice versa. If you are a "bear" then the masculinity of those with buffed bodies have disdain for them. If you are a "twink" (over the top no doubt about their gayness) they aren't accepted either. If they can't accept "their own" then why the hypocrisy of wanting acceptance from those that are not gay? Don't get me wrong, I have had many friends that are gay and they'd give the shirt off their back but being intolerant of their own community is bewildering to me.

      @@quirkyquips9915 Okay, so I think I was just tired, & I have a few issues when people don't add every little detail & how they're related.
      Specifying is a tiny bit more essential for me to understand, to make myself more clear.
      However, I understand what you are saying, but it's not really that simple, it's much more complicated than that.
      But I will say this;
      Sexuality, as in "Sexual Attraction" to another human is NOT chosen, & can NOT change. HOWEVER, how you choose to act on your sexual attraction & those feelings can be chosen, but I personally would say how much would depend on the person, yet it's MUCH less control, & more subconscious/deep thought processes than you might think.
      Sexuality is truly a spectrum, & the innate sexual attraction of human beings are surprisingly quite vague, however, society, environment, & the likes have formed us to how we are/act today. Even looking back in history we can see this in the Roman Empire for example.
      So despite most people labeling themselves as gay & straight, they're socially created identities to make it easier on our human brains for multiple reasons.

      @@jobretten5696 Too often I can see that, & I can agree it shouldn't necessarily be so focused on the fact that their gay or whatever.
      However, I want to add that simply being gay or whatnot does not make you automatically apart of the "LGBT community" in the sense that I'm not flamboyant or make my identity revolve around being gay.
      It's unfortunate that some people think all non-straight people think that way & are like that.
