I went through a bad divorce that involved a child (my daughter) about 12 years ago. I was left penniless and alone...becoming homeless for a short time in the immediate aftermath. I ended up moving to a different town, living illegally in an attic, and taking a job at one of those burger places that have Rock N Roll memorablia on the walls and music playing 24/7. I was taking orders one day, and this song came on. I had heard it a hundred times, but was hearing it for the first time as a near-homeless man with his family a hundred miles away. I couldnt control myself and the line was too long to abandon....I took order after order with tears streaming down my face and customers looking at me like I'd lost my mind. I love this song, but I'll never hear it again without thinking of that day.
And now you're much stronger. And a bit wiser. Great story man.

I truly believe that this kind of emotional pain ultimately makes us have more empathy for others, and makes us better people. It's such a painful process though. A hard way to learn.
My son, Danny, (named for his dad) was born right when this song came out. Like a day or two before. It was too cool. Kenny Loggins wrote this for his brother when that brother and his wife had their firs child, but it made it to radio and the top ten when it was sung in 1972 by Anne Murray. My Danny is 50 years old now. Amazing.

I sang House at Pooh Corner to my oldest daughter when she was a baby. Her nickname became Pooh. She played it for our Dad-Daughter dance at her wedding. It was hard to keep it together walking her down the aisle. I sobbed during our dance. My two girls are both married now. I wish you the very best with your coming family. Loggins and Messina have a lot of music to get you through it.
Pooh or Pooh Bear is what my brother and I called our niece when she was born up to being almost grown. Then we thought she probably wouldn’t want to be called that anymore. One day she asked us why we stopped calling her Pooh and we told her. She will be 49 on her next birthday 🥳 and to this day we call her “Pooh” 🥰.

I'm 42 single and childless and this song gets me sentimental about having a family. The way his voice hits that chorus melody is just perfection.
She is a keeper. "Btw Love the girl who holds the world in a paper cup" is about how its not about money, they are together for love come thick or thin.
The first time you see your child the love you will feel will be overwhelming.

I lost my youngest Son almost 2 years ago. You could never close your heart enough to not get hurt. I miss him so much! Thankfully I told him I loved him a million times but I truly wish for a million more!

As a father of 9 I can tell you that your heart will be completely opened and will repeatedly be ripped out and rebuilt by your children, it is a beautiful thing to experience and I would not ever wish to be childless. I now have 8 grands to cherish as well.
When you have that first baby, your heart will open in ways you can’t imagine. You think you’re so full of love while you’re carrying the child, then you push it into the world, and everything you felt before, pales in comparison. I can still feel it 38 years later. Enjoy this journey.

Lex said what every parent worth a damn feels...they make you so vulnerable. You'll see them hurt, and nothing is more painful. Crap parents can shake it off as a growing experience for the child, and it is, but it still rips your heart apart if you care. Being a parent makes you so vulnerable, is so scary, and so totally worth it...best thing ever. There's no room for cynicism and your child.

As a black child growing up in the dc area my father listened to country and western music and I used to be embarrassed when my friends would hear it but I always would sing along with the songs now as a 49 year old man I listen to those songs and have such wonderful memories of my father who passed away in 2012. I hear rap music and I feel so sad because it is filled with every kind of wickedness you can imagine.

You guys should take a hint from a song that's obviously emotionally moving for you, and name the baby Danny, or Daniel, or if it's a girl Danielle. You can then look back at this video and relive the experience of creating a new life.
