Devin Gibson I've got a question for you. Blacks have about twice the unemployment rate and earn about half the income of whites (on average). So my question is, do black Americans so underperform white Americans in this way because...1. Blacks are inherently inferior to white Americans or...2. There are socioeconomic forces blacks endure that whites have been spared from. What's your answer 1 or 2?

Actually black Africans came to America with black slaves they owned, and those black slave owners could buy land. Truth be told, only 10% of black people who came to the America's actually where shipped to North America.

I grew up in a low income area joined a labor union and knowing nothing about politics the unions will force you to campaign tell you partial truth’s and basically want you to attack who they deem as the enemy. And the older I’ve gotten the more I realize I have no idea what’s going on. I joined the union as a young man and I’m now in my mid 40’s. Im losing my hair so i shaved my head and grew a beard and I’m heartbroken by the hate and stereotypes that I receive from people in my community. Ive been called Donald Trump motherfucker, what you looking at? Cuz I’m black? Just shitty treatment and people trying to instigate shit both white and black but if I’m being honest mainly my black folks. And I don’t know what is going on anymore. This used to be the party of inclusiveness and working class folks to if you don’t sit on the victim hood hierarchy you’re worthless. Also, the very idea that black people are born into victimhood due to white people, gives the false impression that white people are somehow superior and above everything, as all events- all history- was somehow in the hands of the white "Supreme Being".

@@pria7538 I agree with you and would add that I think most people in general agree with that notion. I think the problem is the term racism itself has been diluted. There are some that state that every republican is a racist or they support racism. That type of thinking is what’s ruining the public discourse and forcing us to not have the conversations we need to have to solve the problems. It makes it harder to find the actual racists. Believing in statistics isn’t being racist. Laughing at jokes isn’t racist. Voting for republicans doesn’t make u racist. Amen brother! I too am Native/Mexican American; I view myself as Born Again Christian first, American secondly, and Native thirdly, because we are all brothers coalesced from creation by God, separated by region, culture, language and color. Through the eyes of the Creator, we are simply brothers; there are no races-only the human race. “Racism” is better defined as bigotry and discrimination. “If you hate your brother, you are a murderer and eternal life does not reside in you” 1 John 3:15
The Bible is brilliant and needs no defense because evil people place themselves in deeper judgement with every word or action that proceeds from them.

He is trying to uplift the blk community rather than keep them stagnated like they have been in recent years. All he does is advocate these communities to change the culture to non welfare, traditional values. He thinks the father being in the home with a traditional marriage is the best route. The most racism I have seen in my 40 years on Earth has happened in the last 6 years. I am all about love and peace, but suddenly, because of my "caucasity", I am racist by default. I dont like the phrase "were all equal" because some men lose limbs and are born withought limbs. so we are all not equal. we have different genetics about the varying amounts of the human race we are one however i think the human race to each other cant be equal. its the same fallacy as females vs males we will never be equal. because equal means females being capable physical of doing what males do as physical labor. like feminism it has always been bullshit since forever and before it started. its not the same with humans though because we are not born evil we are made to be evil. however some humans are born to be withought sympathy and no recognition of compassion for other humans and animals but if theyre raised by horrible parents then it should be no surprise why the psychopathy and socipaths of the world are so evil because when their enviroment is full of disgust itself then they go higher to malevolence and theres no return from that point on because now some humans are truly only capable of evil and can only do evil think of evil and become the word evil itself and no good.

Would the money just come from the general money the government gets from taxes? Because black people pay into that, so wouldn't they be paying their own reparations? Not to mention there are a lot of other ethnicities that had no part in slavery here, so would they have to pay? Or would the government create a new tax for the purpose and do the thousands of hours of research it would take to identify both the descendants of slaves and of slave holders, so the "fair" transfer of monies would occur? Can you see the HUGE problem this presents? Can you imagine being white and getting a letter that you're now gonna have to pay this tax that not everyone has to pay because great great great grandma or grandpa had connections to a plantation 300 years ago? Or imagine you're black and get a letter that you're not qualified to get that money because you DIDN'T have ties to a slave plantation.... wow, and you think we have racism running rampant NOW! But that’s no reason for me to blame my life on that. I was never in that situation. My life is because of the choices I made. Same with every American today. If Trevor Noah and Thomas Sowell had gone head to head in a debate then the absolute gulf between their intellects would be exposed. Sowel is on a completely different level to Noah. Thomas Sowell is the man. Its sad that I came to find out about him at 28 years old! Never heard a peep about him in college and I took an Economics class. His facts backed by evidence are amazing. If you go to his website everything is cited. The problem with minority is that we are uneducated and expect things handed to us because of the slavery that none of us born after its abolishment have experienced. We idolize liabilities, disrespect, treating women wrong and when we are viewed through said prism by other people we get offended. We have a cultural issue that we refuse to address and look to blame it on everything and everybody else before we look inside and realize we have to change. Here is a Black Genius whom we never ever talk about during black history month. When my daughter gets an assignment for Black History Month it will be on Sowell. He speaks truths and does not care about feelings. The case for reparations is pointless, yet people have full blown debates on it. I would argue that reparations should be handed out, and when most minority choose to invest it in liabilities and end up back in the same place 5-10 years from now, what will their excuse be ?

  • @derekdrake8706
    @derekdrake8706 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Here's the thing.. Thomas Sowell is a legitimate, old school scholar, he comes from a position of knowledge and integrity. Trevor Noah is a media figure, he comes from a position of "I need to say inflammatory stuff to get views, stay relevant and make money."
When you actually do the research, reparations becomes a non-issue because it's just a mess. Not only would you'd actually have to find out who's ancestors were enslaved by who's, and when you do that you realize everybody's ancestors were enslaved by everybody at one point or another. Then you gotta think about the logistics, it's taxpayers paying the reparations, black families would be paying for it too. So what do you do? Make exemptions for them? What about the families who never owned slaves and had ancestor's who died trying to end it, do they get exemptions? The logistics are literally impossible and would ultimately be meaningless because it'd never be enough. Congress has already officially apologized for slavery and race based policies but most people don't know that, because they don't care, and they don't care because it's a cultural grift that pops up every few years.
My family on my dad's side is native american so we've had these reparation conversations many times and the general consensus (in my family at least) was: "You can't move forward if you're always looking back."

@@brandonannisette6023 Other fun facts: Reparations to First Nations folks - who were here when the Europeans landed - failed miserably, and it can be argued that they are actually in a permanent state of reparations, given all the programs and allowances directly targeted to them by the U.S. And we can actually call up people of Japanese descent who were interned in camps and pay at least the following generation if not the very people who were victimized.
I don't see any reason to believe that reparations to the descendants of African slaves would accomplish anything - while it could easily cause even more problems than we've had in the last few years. If anything, penalize the Roosevelt and (Lyndon) Johnson families for putting forth policies that helped destroy great strides blacks had made in the meantime.
Of course, one solution would be for them to be compensated by the descendants of their fellow Africans who enslaved them in the first place. Those are notoriously wealthy nations, so it shouldn't be a problem. 🤣

Very good interview with Thomas Sowell . Trevor Noah's, commentary was about what I expected. Mostly uninformed and plying for the emotional response, to the outrage of the slavery label, to pose his arguments, instead of facts. Trevor, in addition to a large majority of the outraged, never address other races that also suffered under the yoke of slavery. Or that there were black plantation owners who used black slave labor. And no one ever mentions that free blacks bought and sold slaves and hunted down runaway slaves as well.

Thomas sowell had been on the daily show and a podcast with Jon Stewart and Trevor. You should have learned a little about Trevor before bashing him. Trevor Noah has known and lived racism in a way that most people of younger generations have never known. He was born during apartheid in South Africa his mother was black and his father was white he wasn’t even allowed to be seen with both of his parents together because technically he was born a crime. He is very intelligent and hilarious. When asked on Jon Stewart’s podcast about Reparations he said things need to change but that doesn’t mean you need to hand over money to people whose ancestors were slaves, he says almost every ethnicity had been discriminated against and the path for a better future is to change the way things are now. He made a great case for Native Americans and even Indentured white slaves. You only showed certain clips, you made his white privilege comment seem racist when it was absolutely true. White privilege in his term is when you can’t cash a check a bank, when your knees start shaking because a cop is behind you. I love your videos but you said in the beginning you don’t know much about him but that didn’t stop you from talking shit about him. The best thing about Trevor is he listens and he learns and changes his perception. And he is never afraid to admit when he was wrong. 😒 so disappointed

To be fair, I think he’s only reacting to a video someone else created. And this is exactly why I don’t engage in politics or debates in general. I just don’t have all the facts. I don’t know the complete story of someone or something. And quite honestly, I don’t want to. I’d rather spend my time doing things I like and trying to be happy. I’ll let myself be ignorant as long as I’m not trying to convince anyone else my opinions lol.

I used to pass u up due to the bait clicking picks of yourself on ur intro page. Last week I decided to give u a try because of the topic. What I love best is how u point to God for the answer to everything. I think that's powerful. May God continue to bless u. Oh and plez get rid of the self bait clicking images. Ur platform is huge and u don't need them. God is in control. GOD BLESS BROTHER🙏

One thing I find extraordinary is that Trevor Noah is speaking as if he is an authority on the history of slavery. How is he qualified to speak with such certainty?
I'm confident that reparations will never be paid, because it would mean those who never owned slaves paying those who never slaves.
Even if it was seriously considered, millions of black American families arrived after slavery was abolished. Should their descendants receive reparations? Also millions more white families arrived after slavery, should the taxes of their descendants contribute to reparations? What if your black ancestors owned slaves? What if your white ancestors didn't? There's a hundred reasons why it's a terrible idea.
People like Trevor Noah are keeping this idea alive and fostering racial division.
