      Courtney Daniella I agree 100% that there are different standards with regards to who is allowed to openly show their hurt and who must always remain strong, especially if that person is usually strong and confident. People tend to to think that there should be no reason why that person is hurt and that they have nothing to complain about as their life is great. The truth is: everybody hurts sometimes. #song reference

      with everything you have said i totally agree with you. I'm the kind of person who keeps things in, because I'm afraid that what i say may hurt someone or take it certain way. But I'm working on it. Thanks for making this video by the way. Stay blessed beautiful.

    My grandma used to say - if you don't pick up that cocoa butter to moisture your skin, in the long run your skin is going to get ashy- meaning if you don't take time to preserve, pamper, treat, be honest to yourself about what you are going through, in the long run it might eat away your confidence, self-love, your mental/physical state... because you haven't taken the time to have a date with your self to check upon yourself. And be comfortable uncomfortable meaning these issues you haven't addressed with yourself and you find it awkward tackle it head one with the right help. (I think I went off on a tangent lool sorry but I hope it makes sense )

    Thank you Courtney for this video! Today at church my pastor was reading from John 5 where Jesus healed a disabled man by telling him to get up and walk and take his mat (which he had sat on for 38yrs) with him. And he spoke about the significance of Jesus' order to take the mat was so that the man would forever be reminded of where God brought him from. Watching your video reconfirmed this for me as transparency helps to remind ourself and others about the power of God in our lives as he has rescued and healed us from so many things in the past. Thank you xxx

    I can't. My spirit is just on fire right now. This is the reason I started my channel! I was even talking to my friend yesterday about doing a video like this & then your video pops up, that's mad. God is working. Transparency is defo a taboo, especially in the black community. "Why you spread your business to other people" 😒 that phrase really did a number on me once a upon a time. So I'm glad you are spreading the need to break the silence ❤️❤️🙌🏾

    • @TooCappy101
      @TooCappy101 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kara Amartey yep I can sure relate with the "why are you spreading you're business" saying from our people. Those type of people that we grow up with makes focus on what others would think of you, and neglect yourself.

    Thank you for saying this. These are some of the reasons why I personally went to therapy. My parents are Jamaican and they don't believe in talking about 'family business' with people outside of the family. For me, it came down to keeping to those rules or dealing with my depression by talking to someone about it. I decided to break their rules and live. I honestly think that if I didn't do that, I would have died via suicide. God is good.

    I really appreciate you making this video. You speak with such eloquent wisdom! Definitely motivation to break down barriers. I believe that in order to accomplish life goals, overall, that an individual must always reflect upon and improve themselves. It all starts with transparency. Showing love to a fellow Ghana girl across the pond. Keep posting🔥

  • @zindzinelson7384
    @zindzinelson7384 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have been thinking a lot about the topic of transparency recently. and I really agree- sometimes even if you feel as though telling the truth is going to make you vulnerable and 'weak', the courage that it took to be honest will always override those feelings and empower you in a way that you didnt think was possible. And sometimes bottling up the feelings that you have can be more detrimental than setting them free and relieving that pressure on your mind. ❤

    Great video Courtney! (as usual!) I personally found freedom in transparency and started a podcast years ago (a website is in the works) that allowed me to be transparent beyond my little person and my direct entourage. "Tell the truth, shame the devil! ". I quickly realized that speaking out even furthered my healing process and gave my audience an opportunity to reflect on similar situations that they may have gone through. I am always elated to read messages from people saying they could relate to what I was talking about and that what I shared helped them in a way or another. Being transparent also shed light on my God given mission/purpose and I could not be happier with where I am in my life right now. Lastly (and most importantly), the whole thing helped improve my relationship with Jesus even more. My goal in life is to serving the Lord the best I can because everything else is provided through this service! Stay blessed!

    That point on all your activities being connected to you and your health (emotional/physical) is so important - I remember feeling overwhelmed last year about tests and realising I needed to take time for focus on me and re-centre myself before focusing on anything else. Keep coming with the wisdom CD, it's so necessary :)

    If I could like this a million times I would! In this 14 minute 30 second video you have spoken some of the greatest truths known to man. I agree that being honest with yourself is essential. Unfortunately I have been too transparent in my life & opened up to the wrong people 😔 so thank you for warning us about that. But transparency executed with WISDOM is the key to mental, emotional & spiritual freedom. Glory to God & well done sis for another incredible video 💜 xxx
