The Machine Spirit, for those who don't know, is a phenomenon in Warhammer 40K. Most machines have some kind of soul or limited AI system that can, on occasion, make the machine move and fight on its own without a crew.
I might be misremwmbering but I think there's a story of a Lemann Russ tank going berserk after its crew got killed and broke an Ork battle line before it got destroyed.

for those of you familiar with Mass Effect, the Machine Spirit is basically the same thing as a VI. Avina, the Citadel guide program, is a Machine Spirit. the targetting systems in the guns that pair with the internal HUD in the helmets are Machine Spirits. EDI is not a Machine Spirit, she's an Abominable Intelligence that would be killed on sight and then hauled off to Mars in order to be studied by the Adeptus Mechanicus.

Former AV installer here. Never really had to deal with anything gross, but extremely uncomfortable things instead, like amplifiers in loft spaces, the worst time being in the middle of summer right up in the top of a steep tiled roof here in Sussex, England. The solid red clay roof tiles absorb heat better than a solar panel, so it was hot as hell up there and I was literally dripping while working on this amplifier and hoping that I did *not* drip on the live 240V feed...

9:43 20 years ago I built a redicuous gaming PC in a cardboard fruit box similar to this rig. It was one of those boxes that's like 1/2 an inch thick and you could stand on. I needed a sizeable case which I wasn't gonna pay hundreds for so fruit box it was. However unlike this rig I did a few things different. I lined the entire box in a thin layer of aluminum coated rock wool, effectively making the damn thing fire proof from the inside. I also glued a small can of compressed nitrogen, (the stuff you use to freeze gum) to the top of the machine. In the event it DID catch fire inside the case the heat would cause the can to explode instantly suffocating the fire and freezing the contents. How did I know this would work? I didn't until it happened due to a lightning strike 3 years later that blew up the surge protector the rig was plugged into... which was also in the case on the bottom. within 20 seconds the can exploded like a shotgun shell and killed the fire. So there you go. Saved the computer to!

8:12 honestly i could go on a rant on warhammer 40k angry marines and machine spirits but to keep your sanity
machine spirits are basically near sentient vehicles that allow the pilot of said machine spirit ( vehicle ) to control it
and if the pilot isnt strong enough the machine spirit will cause him to go insane
and the angry marines you can basically imagine them as the entire rage of the internet compressed into a super soldier
wearing thick as hell armor and using weapons like the power fist , power foot , and the dreaded power chair
power weapons are basically weapons but on steroids .

I just love the fact you actually know what you're talking about when it comes to the tech stuff.

The laptop drill one sort of reminds me of my mothers story. When I was little she tried to wash a bubble machine by putting it in the sink. She said that she knew electric devices should not be put into water but this was batteries. She did not realize batteries were electric and it blew up or caught fire (don't remember but she was apparently scared). Everyone in the modern age should be taught about batteries and the dangers of them as they are all mini explosives if handled incorrectly which can easily destroy lives.

My friend owned an old Macbook with the weird metal casing when i first met him during our school days, and i found it so weird that he typed with his arms floating above the thing, instead of resting his hands on the laptop when he typed.
When i asked him about it, he just said it was so it didn't shock him!
This dude had a short to the casing of his laptop, strong enough to give him a pretty good shock, but somehow not in a way that killed the machine (or him for that matter...), and he never thought it was a worse problem than "Just don't touch the metal parts, and it's fine!".

By containment unit I think Lexi is referring to the agents from the CDA from Monster’s inc. the ones who showed up when the monster comes back with a sock stuck to him.

5:28 this is exactly why i can never go back to apartment living. I was woken up one day because one of the other renters supposedly started cooking while drunk, fell asleep, and their mac&cheese or something was burned so bad it set off the smoke detectors for the building. Add to this i worked nights at the time, so i was asleep when the alarms went off. I was not happy at work that night.

7:30 I had a battery with that problem and it was completely empty and couldn't be charged (the previous owner tried it). I put a small hole through the outside layer because I wasn't able to remove the battery when it was thick like that. You should never try that with a cell that has any charge left in it. But in the case of a thick battery, nothing bad should happen if you let the pressure out. But under normal circumstances, you shouldn't try it anyway.

That thumbnail reminds me of the time I was in a video filming and editing class and right as we were talking about camera safety, someone dropped their camera and lens glass just went all over the floor and everyone in the classroom cringed in horror… I felt so bad for that guy because it was a total accident. The neck strap decided right then and there to break…

Everyone that has worked with tech at any point has a "most disgusting moment" here´s mine.
Was working at a local recycling workshop, spent most of my time taking apart and sorting random tech junk that came in. Once got an not too old cashiers register, one of those touchpad electronic ones. Once I opened it up it become clear what fast food joint it came from, McDonalds. Spent the rest of the dismantling process wearing two layers of surgical gloves and a respirator mask, since the employees at that place are not known for their clean hands, or maintenance on their tech.
Stuff found inside, imagine half a decades worth of dust mixed with dark brown sludge and a fair amount of what i assumed were pubic hairs. That is about what it smelled like before put the mask on.
