I believe the creator of The Doux recommends you rake out and define the pieces, but then leave them alone (not put them in bunches) and then dry with a diffuser.

You're like me - I just don't like the look. On 4C hair, I think a fro looks better than a wash n go. Has nothing to do with product or technique - has to do with curl pattern. The fro is a more natural look for the kinkiest hair and I think I shouldn't fight it. My hair naturally falls into it which is why I think it looks better. LOL.
Maybe that’s just your experience friend….I do it all the time and lock in moisture. U don’t have to wear protective styles only with type 4 hair. And there are so many different types of type 4 hair, it’s just a pattern other factors are unique to u
The mousse has leave in properties and should be used alone then heat dried, not air. It’s not formulated to mix with other brands.

Just a suggestion but maybe try drying with a diffuser after defining your curls, then band in sections after fully dried. 👍🏾

Don’t give up on it. Maybe layer the mouse with a gel. Do the raking method and let it air dry or set it under the dryer.
“Wash and go” are not really for 4 type hair… it dries out the hair! It’s cute for styles but to just wear it… it’s a no go
