- The Camaro ZL1 has always been about performance from Chevrolet. This 2021 convertible brings high horsepower and top down fun. On the exterior you will discover a unique front fascia, flow-tie, and 20in wheels. On the inside you will be greeted by full Recaros, Alcantara steering wheel, and 8in infotainment screen. I love this car so much. I rented a 2016 Camaro SS convertible in Hawaii and I haven’t been able to get over that car since. I have been saving all of my money since I discovered the joy of this car and I will soon have my very own ZL1. I am so excited!!!
These new muscle cars will be history in a few years. Now or never 🏁 👍

@thinkabout - Everybody's saying that, but wide production of EV's in reality is at least 2 decades away, look at what happenned to hybrids, they're expensive, heavy and I doubt the electric grid and electric production could sustain even a small percentage of a large EV fleet, the key is to make conventional engines more efficient and clean, as for the public, yeah they're very green, buying trucks and SUV's killing the sedan market, piston engines are here to stay...

I just took delivery of my 2022 Camaro SS. My 1st Camaro and sadly likely my last. I knew they are going to become extinct and I had worked hard and saved plenty of money to purchase one. I absolutely love this car. The ZL1 is awesome but it would’ve been too much money for me to justify. It’s much easier to check all the boxes when you’re just financing it with no down 😂. I love my Camaro and it will be handed down to my boy when I’m too old to climb out of it.

@@directorjustin Sorry, I have absolutely no interest in driving in one or driving one myself, it simply isn't my thing & I don't like the all or nothing approach as some believe there's no other way. This is America where we can & should have both internal combustion engines & EV's, the fact it is being forced onto everyone simply makes myself & many others resent them, it's the wrong way to go about it, especially when not long ago we were completely energy & oil independent with more than enough right here in the USA but obviously there's a group that didn't like America being strong & independent as they seek to destroy a perfectly good thing.

Yes, and top down, what a great way to eliminate those pesky blind spots. Have always loved everything that was built on the Alpha platform. Going to be a very sad day when the Camaro is once again discontinued.

Not a fan of convertibles but if I lived in Florida I might be. Get em while you can before they say goodbye. Chevy just recalled every Bolt sold in the past five years. I’m sorry but I doubt EV’s are the future. Not only are they expensive but there’s just not a high enough demand for them. They will be a flop. Nobody in any rural area will buy. Not everyone lives in a concrete jungle where you only need 200-300 miles on a charge then have to charge for hours

In 1980 I bought a Nissan Thunder Black 280Z manual and at a red light, when it turned green I punched it..I looked behind me and a Tampa police car lit me up! I pulled over and to my surprise after I pulled my license and proof of insurance he said " I'm not going to give you a ticket, just don't go from zero to the speed limit in 1 second.. enjoy your new ride!" Cool cop! Respect...

Joe I had an 18 ZL1 convertible and it was the best damn convertible and sports car I ever owned. I had a 18 Mustang GT and an 18 Challenger Hellcat in the garage next to it and it was just pure damn fun. Don't get me wrong, the Hellcat was my favorite muscle, but for just top down fun you can't beat the ZL1. Great review

Another fantastic demo! I am pleasantly surprised that GM chose the magnetic ride suspension. One of my top questions with sports cars is what type of suspension system does it have? Outstanding choice! Love the entire front end especially the bulge with the removable cover under the hood.
The most impressive style point on a convertible to me is how smooth and flush the top assembly flows with the trunk and GM nailed it with this model.

He meant in a drop top way, the gt350 and the zl1 compete
He clearly meant the Mustang GT is the only CONVERTIBLE you can get to go up against this… because you can’t get the GT 500 in a Convertible.
Great video, In the future when everyone is driving around in souped up golf carts this car in a manual and the 2019 ZR1 manual convertible are gonna be the big money collectibles . And it would be just like Chevy to blasphemously use the Camaro name for a 4door ev , they did bring the Blazer back as another lame ass crossover while Ford did it right with the Bronco.
The Bronco has a good size and chassis, but it still has a dorky engine.
You’re comparing a $75,000 (ZL1) car to a $50,000 (mustang gt). The GT350 is not available as a convertible but it would be a fairer comparison. It seems by the timing of the release of the latest version of the ZL1, it was improved to compete with the GT350. 1lE is a track focused option. A lot of us normal folk would prefer the non 1le version of the ZL1. Your attitude towards the Camaro has improved quite a bit since you purchased one.
Came here to say this. Dollar for dollar a mustang GT will absolutely dog walk this thing. Those 10 speed mustangs are disgustingly fast even bone stock. And way cheaper. E85, tune, intake, exhaust, some porting…done. Not even going to talk about adding forced induction. Way more fair to compare the GT350.

This would absolutely be my choice and in this color.
I had a V6 and it had great power already, enough for a daily driver plus a little fun. What's nice is the cornering! Love the handling! You can get a supercharger on the V6 and get a little more HP than the SS stock. Less gas, less insurance and plenty of power for fun.
I drove a mustang convertible, too much noise comes in through the top when closed. Also, bake in the sun LOL
I'll take a coupe with sunroof.
I'm guessing if I ever got to drive a ZL1 I would change my mind with a quickness LOL

Great point about the blind spots, though that never bothered me in 3 years. You just get used to how you need to look to avoid issues.

The ZL1 is my favorite of all the current muscle cars! I know the GT500 & Hellcat make more power, but badass is badass and the ZL1 is badass. Convertibles aren’t my thing but if I bought one it would be the ZL1 🤣🤣🤣. You did NOT compare the ZL1 brakes to Mustang GT brakes!! The Mustang GT should never be referenced in any way whatsoever with the ZL1 for any reason whatsoever 🤣🤣🤣🤦🏾

I love Challengers, Mustangs and Camaros for different reasons but they are all beautiful pieces of American Iron and this ZLI is stunning. The performance is there as is the styling. Those taillights are awesome 👍🇺🇸
Most these cars are made in Mexico and other parts of the world. The quality of these cars has dropped off a cliff and the parts come from different parts of the world . Hardly anything is made in America except fiat currency

1le does not add power it s a track package for handling and makes sense you cannot get a rag top version. Coupes are lighter and more rigid.

In my region the MSRP for a 2022 ZL1 coupe is the same price as a 2021 Mustang Mach 1 Premium. 🙄

Camaro ZL-1 is faster than a Mustang GT, but a Mustang GT Premium convertible starts at $45,784 and the Camaro ZL1starts at $71,895.
Ok, but the ZL-1 doesn't compete directly with the Mustang GT. It competes with the Shelby GT500, however Ford doesn't sell a GT500 convertible so 🤷♂️

Picked up my drop top ZL! Aug. 27, wild cherry of course and 6 speed manual of course ( yes I know its slower but I love the experience). Love the car can't wait till the run-in is complete.

Nice muscle car HP! Digging the front end, color and spoiler. The spoiler has great positioning for back up camera & minimizing the shark fin. The color minimized the goggle effect of tail lights, but 73K. I'd rather go C7 Corvette, last of front engines for that dough. And the nameplate lives on. Here we go again it's 1970/1971 all over again. Instead of the gas crunch, now it's Hybrids with 4 bangers and electric. Great review, as always.
