Did this hike 2 weeks ago with my 20-something kids and son's girlfriend. I'm 58, and did the hike one day after recovering from norovirus !! So now I'm feeling like a bit of a hero 😅 !!
Amber your hair is so cute fluffed up in the front! Also I’ve been here since you had a few hundred subscribers and have loved watching this channel grow. You guys are the most down to earth unpretentious travel channel out there.
It was my first day trying to style it and I was getting so frustrated! Thank you for saying that. We have no way of knowing who has been around and for how long. It makes us so happy to know you have stuck around through all the changes our travels and channel have taken. It means a lot and we truly appreciate it. It's not always easy to be ourselves when we try so hard to grow our channel and gain followers. These gentle reminders are exactly what we like to hear and I hope you will be the first to let us know if we start slipping. ;) Please keep in touch!
glad you made it,,,good experience? of you do ,lots different options to get different trails, obvious for experience less weight better make yourselfs easier,,, glad you did carry one as more forward and harder in different direction as possible do same time of course, but need be more experience and do few more walks to get prepare,,thank you to share your video..love it watching
One of the best hikes in Europe! I did this hike with a sunny day (lucky me) . Went with Do It Madeira self guided mode. I would totally do this hike again!
Did this yesterday and if was soooo many stairs I did not think I was going to make it, was very cold in the morning and hot by the time I was finished fun but tough for me
Hey what a lovely lovely film, completely filled me with utter joy! My partner and I got back from two weeks in Madeira yesterday afternoon… we had to give this one a pass as I had a muscle issue so next time for us… But the island is littered with so many beautiful walks whether it’s down 600 m cliffs to the sea trekking Lavada’s….or peaking other tops…. It’s a wonderful place. For sharing❤
@@SOSASATSUNRISE thank you for your reply it is a lovely place.. we did the entire west of The Island from Ecumeadra... we will go back and do the other side when I have sorted this little problem... I was aware of a shorter route but despite being 65 next week I'm not ready to take the stairlift hahaha! There is a lot of mountaineering left in me... love and blessings to you both for such a lovely way on camera. 🙏🌄🙏 John
Excellent video, Guys. It gives a great overview of this amazing hike. I was just thinking that poles might be helpful when you recommended them! Cheers.
Thank you! Poles would have been amazing. Luckily the entire trail has a railing to hold onto which helps. This was one of those days where we are thankful we film our travels. Such a beautiful place. Thanks for watching!
You guys didn't seem to have taken into account a very important factor before that adventure: oxygen levels at that altitude. Nothing, except proper training, can prepare you for that and once you reach a certain height you have to slow down a bit or it will take a toll on you. Been there, done that: 1988, I was in my 20's, in the military service, extremely fit, thought I could handle anything and when I got back to the starting point I was almost like Nathan. This was on a Saturday morning and the next Monday I was still having difficulty walking or climbing stairs. : )
Take a peak at our old videos. We are no strangers to high altitude 😀. But we are not in the shape we were a year or two ago and this mountain definitely kicked our butts! Felt that one for a couple days.
I'M SO EXCITED TO BE OFF TO MADEIRA IN THREE WEEKS TIME!!! BUT TO BE HONEST, AFTER WATCHING YOUR VIDEO, IT FEELS LIKE I HAVE ALREADY BEEN TO THE TOP OF PICO RUIVO WITH YOU 😁. GREAT VIDEO, GUYS!!! BIG THANKS FOR SHARING ❤
Loved the video with some realistic views and passages. Unlike most videos that only show the pretty bits. I'll be doing this in May this year but I decided for an unguided tour. They drop you at the start and pick you up at the other end. So you don't have to hike back through the same path :)
I think you have found the perfect way to enjoy this hike! Although we were exhausted, you miss so much by just taking the short route to the top. Have fun!
Great video, it’s good to have a realistic experience, a lot of the other pico hike videos make it look so easy😉 we’re not all trained 🍷athletes,😳. Love all your videos and advice Merry Christmas 🎄
This was a great video, thanks for posting it! What time of year did you do the hike? We're going in June but I'm guessing we need to take layers whatever time of year if it gets so cold when the clouds come in!
We are here now, tried the levada nova but my fear of heights made me turn back, dizzy, sweaty... this hike was one of our main activities planned. But i'm having second thoughts now. What do you think? Railings help a lot but there were parts with no railings so I don't know.. thanks for the video!
There are some parts that might make you weak in the knees. If there is a scary looking part, we put it in the video. Nathan is slightly afraid of heights but didn't have a problem with this hike. He was too tired to care about the ledge 😅 There is also a shorter hike to the summit if interested. Hope this helps!
I did it and turned back halfway lol, and they told me it was a good idea since I would have been scared out of my mind on the metal stairs, but I still got some very nice views haha, thanks for the good advice, I kept it in my mind all the time
I do enjoy your videos! I always wanted to go to Madeira and was advised to go with a tour group? Sadly I holiday company I go away with went into administration whilst I was holidaying annually sadly went into administration in the summer of 2016.
There are several routes to the top! In order for us to return to our car, we had to take the same route back. What goes up must come down!😀 Thanks for watching.
You are only best who show startpoint and all lokations. thanks.

Thank you for showing me the many beautiful places the world has to offer. I truly enjoy your travels.
Thank you for following along! We would not be able to continue traveling without you. So much more to come 😀

I agree with you Kara, so many act in front of the camera, it’s so obvious 🤦🏽♀️. I much prefer you two, thank you for being real.
You guys have the BEST vibe! WOW I had an awesome time with you, super great production!
your hair looks nice ,i like it ... enjoy portugal
Thank you so much! We love Portugal!
Holy Moly!! So cool!! Good thing you guys are young!! 😘💗
Haha we didn't feel very young the next morning! 😅 Still an amazing hike and I'd do it again....after a few days of recovery.
Doing this one in the morning looking forward to it
Adding this to my list for sure!!
Such a spectacular views and you get a cappuccino at the top. Best hike ever.
One of my favorite videos to date! So true that you stare at your feet the majority of many hikes 🤣
Thank you! Haha this hike especially you needed to watch your step. So glad their was a railing the whole time.
Good video, what a season!

There is a short route to the top that we were unaware of at the time. 😅 AMAZING ISLAND! Thank you for watching and leaving your thoughts!

We are doing this hike at sunrise. Can we wear hiking sneakers or do we need boots? Looks amazing!
Nathan had a pack. Give ‘em a break! 😅

What time of year was this?
The equivalent of climbing and descent 400 floors
I watched this hike on "Lauza and MIchael's" channel and they went a different way to get back to the parking lot. It seemed to be all flat.
