Thanks for the video. I'm originally from Bucks County and there's another state park besides Neshaminy you can visit which is Tyler State Park. Originally I'm from Newtown, PA and there's some historic homes, graveyards and churches in Newtown, PA since it was founded by William Penn. They go back to Revolutionary Times. You can combine a visit to Newtown with Tyler State Park if you have the time.

Another plus for community gardens is the interaction you have with other gardeners- the sharing of knowledge!

I've been thinking how a lot of us grew up believing "city+bad" - I certainly am one! But as I wandered around the planet I found I loved the classic city neighborhood experience. It's the parking lot dominated traffic mess of the suburbs that I really hate. An old city usually has what it takes, but they werent built for the automobile. I lived on Capitol Hill in DC and loved the rowhouses, brick walks, front gardens, arching trees, and the local market - a real community gathering place. Now I live in a city neighborhood in Johnstown, which has some funky charm. But I can see the Mountain from my front porch, about 5 blocks away the forest just takes over and goes up, up up. Thanks for the tour!

That was just beautiful. Good old cabbage moth shows up. We have many of them too. Those gardens were lovely. Those birds were delightful. I’m getting slight impression you may not Philly. Thanks so much for taking me along and please stay safe and take care

Dr. Benjamin Rush was my great great great great great Uncle, I may have added too many or not enough greats lol. He was one of 55 men that signed the Declaration of Independence.

I go too this park at least four times a week. There are many types of birds. Lots of deer as well. Very peaceful at times. The gardens are great and have been there for many years. There is also a model airplane field for flying enthusiasts. Can’t believe you where so close to my home town area, I wish I had seen you there, would’ve loved to say high and chat. Love your videos!

Thanks for the zoom-ins on the birds. Being legally blind, that's the only way I get to see birds in any detail. That mocking bird cracks me up. If a person spoke with that many different voices, he'd be put in a mental ward.

Where you’re actually standing was the Byberry mental institution I grew up in that neighborhood. It was a very large complex of several buildings, and a farm. If you look up the history and the pictures of what that area used to be, you will be shocked. It was crazy scary hanging out in the abandon buildings before they tore them down. There was even some patients that live there. They were thrown out when they close down the institutions wandering around the woods. The land was also owned by Quakers, and many escaped slaves lived and formed that land there is a graveyard in the woods of several of them.

You’re in my neck of the woods! . I was going to say, you should check out Neshaminy State park too! A lot of history there too. There used to be a ferry that spanned across he river right there at the park to the other side, at the end of Dunksferry Rd. You’re also across from Old Byberry State Hospital (other side of Rt1).

That's the Roosevelt Blvd. traffic, yes, Rt. 1. I was born in Philly, lived there for 52 years, last years in the NE. City isn't bad when you know your areas and know your way around. I know my way around. Benjamin Rush's home was mistakenly bulldozed when they built townhouses near Knights Rd. There's a plaque there. They saved the wood and were to rebuild it elsewhere, I think of Red Lion and the Blvd. Philly, as a city, has the most extensive park system in the country. Check out a map of Philly and see Wissahickon, Pennypack (both very historical) and other large park city systems.

Philadelphia is a beautiful city, actually. Many old, quaint, historic neighborhoods. Take a train to downtown so you don't have to drive. Get out and just walk around. There are many small, beautiful city parks. And Fairmont Park is the largest city park in the USA. It was designed by by the same man who designed Central Park in NYC (which is also worth visiting).
