Claudia's Wings

This piece is dedicated to my mother Claudia. There is a song by Lucy Kaplanski which celebrates "The Gift" of music that she received from her grandfather, in which she says: "Oh, he could sing.....his voice gave him wings, and for a little while he could fly." These words remind me so much of my mother who gifted me with music, and whose beautiful soprano voice was a soaring soundtrack to my childhood. Before she died, she suffered from dementia and lost the ability to communicate with speech, but never lost her ability to sing. Her voice gave her wings indeed.
