    If you have a cutting machine but don't have an embossing machine, you can still emboss or de-boss to your heart's content! As long as you can use an embossing tool in your machine ( even if it is a nail dotting tool in your pen holder).

    I hear you about how Brothers set it up. It is one of the reason I don’t emboss much. Now I can, so thank you.

    After seeing this great video I checked out the Brother embossing video. Oh my gosh, your way is sooooo much easier. So much of a palaver doing it their way. This will save so much time. Thank you for making these wonderful, helpful videos.

    I've just come across your video by accident - I had watched a couple of tutorials using the items from the embossing kit, and was so confused, and so was searching for more info. So glad I found your tutorial! I feel more confident now, and will now give it a go!

      Good! The Brother way of doing it seems overly complicated to me, which is why I made this one and the others! They had something like 9 steps...

    • @createinspain
      @createinspain  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I no longer use a Brother cutter. However, the way to make 3D embossing is to layer cuts, rather like decoupage, to get the desired effect.

    Thank you - the purchase of the Brother ScanNCut has been contingent on me figuring out how to emboss a larger areas for my project without the embossing template. BRILLIANT - So Grateful for this tutorial. You've earned a subscriber today. ;-) BTW, a slight dampening of the paper (depending upon the paper type, like a watercolor paper or cotton linter) will help the paper stretch ... test it so you don't get tearing.

      @@createinspain Question: Have you found a workaround for plain line embossing that doesn't require an embossing mat?

    • @createinspain
      @createinspain  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@karenw8929 Yes, it's pretty easy. Use some cheap craft foam under the card. Either use an empty cleaned out pen in a pen holder or a nail dotting tool. They come in different ball tip sizes, are very cheap. I use them for score lines too. Experiment with pressure, it depends on your card stock. Misting card with water before embossing makes it easier in some cases. Set your lines to draw and off you go.

    • @karenw8929
      @karenw8929 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@createinspain Wondered about foam - glad for confirmation. I'm just getting ready to purchase - I guess the mat tells the machine what function I'm performing, so if I can't use the Brother embossing kit, I'm glad to know I can just use the penholder with one of the hand embossing tools. I really dislike the size limitation they impose with their embossing mat, plus the cost is nuts. Thanks again for your help - much appreciated! I hope you're having lovely weather in Spain!

    Hi, it's me again. I tried to do the initial set up for region embossing but my mat was far too sticky and I wasn't able to remove the paper to check which number to set. I know it's possible to re-do it but I can't find instructions anywhere. Do you have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    • @jennifercleaver4332

      @@createinspain ok, I purchased the embossing starter kit, included was a sheet of A4 paper with an arrow and a solid black rectangle for use in the initial region embossing set up. I started the process but could not remove the paper from my cutting mat as it was far too sticky. This meant that I could not complete the set up. I understand that it is possible to re-do it, but I cannot find any instructions on how to. I see from one of your previous answers that there is no need to purchase the starter kit so maybe I don't need to do the set up at all. Will I be able to region emboss your way without this process? Sorry if this is a bit complicated but it's the only way I can describe it. Thanks for all your help.

      @@createinspain I hope I'm not sending this twice, but I cannot see that my reply has been sent, so here goes again! I purchased the embossing starter kit which icluded a sheet of A4 paper with an arrow at the top and a solid black rectangle beneath it which is used in the initial region embossing set up. When fed into the machine you are supposed to get a reading to set the depth of the embossing tool (at least that is what I think it's for). However, my mat was far too sticky and I couldn't remove the paper so was unable to get the reading. I saw somewhere that it is possible to do the initial set up again but I can't find any instructions for this. I also saw from a earlier reply that it is not necessary to purchase the kit so maybe I don't need to do this set up at all? Any help would be greatfully recieved. Thanks.

    Do yo need to buy the embossing tool to start off with?

    • @createinspain
      @createinspain  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends on your set up. Some people use the official Brother embossing tools which you can buy as a separate item (no need to buy the special starter kit unless you want the designs that come with it). Others use a nail dotting tool in the pen holder, or an empty biro will work as well. (If you have a new machine and want to avoid warranty issues, go for the embossing tools.) The only issue with using a pen holder and tool is that the pressure may not be as great. If I'm using my Silver Bullet machine, it is easy, as I can control the pressure on any tool holder...
