These box mixes are not junk food. They aren't as healthy as a salad, but they're healthier than fast food burgers and fries. These are for busy working people who don't have hours to spend cooking from scratch. Quick and easy. Throw some extra steamed brocolli in, yum.
Actually, they are for the most part 'junk food'. They are loaded with sodium and other preservatives. You can't be eating dinner out of a box because it's very unhealthy.
@@jishani1Often, when someone is talking about a process that a person typically goes through every day or night, they might say "hours of..." Using the OP's comment, it would mean spending hours out of your week, cooking from scratch. Aren't they teaching kids about context and phrasing anymore? And to be honest, there are meals that could easily take over an hour to prepare, depending on what you're making and how much prep work goes into the different ingredients. Putting a lasagna together, for instance, can take a couple of hours... if you're doing it right. And just out of curiosity, what's the big deal if the OP regularly cooks multi-course meals every night for their family? Why would it bother you so much? It's kind of an odd thing to get triggered about. 🤷♀
Look. This couple needs more subscribers ! We all watch. Give them the love and subscribe. Down to earth people and better than channels that have a million subscribers. Love from Galloway, Ohio. Go Bucks!!
I like Carol's sentiment about the food: it's fast, it's easy (and it tastes good). That's why the concept became popular. For busy parents, its a great way to feed you family on a budget. But after generations of eating this food, the novelty wears off and it starts to be perceived as junk food because of all the preservatives needed to keep it shelf stable.
It’s not junk food. To hard working families it’s an economical meal. There are Many varieties and can be customized with 11:48 the extra vegetables and or different kinds of meat.
I watch all your videos when I get chemo. Thank you for adding a bright spot in a rather dismal time. I appreciate you both so much, you will never know how much❤
I love your It's Not A Cooking Show shows. It isn't watching you eat but it's watching your enjoyment that I love. I've not tried this Velveeta box yet. It looks good. Enjoy your food!
Hi Bosses! Wanted to let you both know a secret many americans know. These box dinners and the Knorr pasta and rice sides can be made into incredible meals, with very little effort or added time. You can add leftover meats cut or shredded, canned meat like tuna, chicken or beef, fresh beef or porkcut into thin strips like whats found in chinese food so it cooks after being mixed in before the cheese. We use venison quite often. Even a can of chili makes an entire new meal!❤😊 Peace.
Not a Cooking Show reminds us of the "stuff we take for granted", but a lot of which we've forgotten about because we haven't used it in years. You inspire me to try some of those things, as I am sure they have been improved over the years, and it would be nice to have those convenient packages in my pantry! 🤠
Just been meaning to tell you, or suggest something. When you are going to try snacks or bake something and you are going to be drinking coffee, I would love to know ahead of time so I can drink a cup with ya'll. You certainly don't have to. I just don't have anyone to drink coffee with, and I miss it. Anyway, love watching you enjoy food from America. Take care. From Texss.
My kids called orzo rice pasta, since rice shaped😂. Lower fat pasta good for keto diet, some brands(ex:Barilla) aren't so look at nutritional label when buying. Orzo leaves you feeling full longer than rice. I love both of them.
I love Velveeta products, as well as Hamburger Helper. These are very homey foods and meals meant to bring comfort. I always have good memories of them. I agree with you!
I personally don't care for the jiffy mix. It's too sweet, I prefer non sweet cornbread. But it's very popular. The velveeta box kits are wonderful though! I need to send y'all a package of goodies! ❤❤
to make sure your corn bread is still a tad warm when dinner is ready, time your cooking with the baking time of the corn bread so your main dish is ready about the same time. it's so much better warm
Yes the prepared boxed meals have more salt and preservatives but if you only eat them occasionally and eat a balanced diet of fruits and vegetables it's like eating a dessert once a week not good for you but not too bad either. Growing up we ate a Hamburger Helper type meal about once a week because of how busy our family was with sports and carpooling to school events.
Looks like another delicious meal! You need the theme song of hey hey good looking what you got Cookin… Listen to Jimmy Buffett‘s version or Johnny cashes! They make me smile just like you’re not a cooking show!!😂
I wouldn't call it junk food but convenience food...we became a country where time made a difference when preparing meals because the household's had either single parent or both working or just liked to quick way of getting a meal done. Yes some of it is junk as in it was made by a company who has tried but failed to make it as good...example is a lot of people try to make Louisiana dishes and it just doesn't taste the same because they make it the way they think it should be and that's ok if it taste good to them
Huh... I've tried the shells and broccoli but not the orzo. I might have to look for that one. 😊 It's nice to see you enjoying the convenience foods we have and take for granted. I can imagine Carol walking into a Walmart and seeing all the quick meal options, lol. It's actually pretty crazy. I mean, obviously some are better than others but it's really insane the sheer choice we have here. 😅 BTW, did you know that they sell individual cheese packets of Velveeta in a big pack (yes, there are big boxes but I mean individual serving cheese packets) so you can use your own ingredients for an individual lunch and just add the cheese to it? 😉 Those are meant for longer shelf life than the big boxes of Velveeta (great for emergency food) and for people who eat lunch alone. I wish I could afford to send you a box of those, just to see what you'd make with them. 😆
Can you get Orzo pasta in Sweden? That and couscous short cook version another pasta are amazing short cuts. Can add diced veggies and left over meat, change up seasonings and easy 30 minute meals
I tried Orzo for the first time not long ago, either. It's like a rice style pasta, actually. It took me a while to find it even at the stores around here. The wife needed it for a recipe she wanted to try. Now on a separate topic, this is the first time I am seeing your tattoo, Recky. I notice you have the chain armband but it doesn't go all the way around. I have the Celtic armband and mine does go all the way around. Trust me, it does get painful when they get to the softer tissue under the arm.
I did hang around to the end & hit the like button. I'm wondering about if Carol handles the camera in all these because Recky is the better cook. Or if Recky does the cooking because he is a worse cinemaphotographer. 😁
It's not junk food guys It's just convenient easy food so don't listen to the people who tell u to slave over a hot stove with every burner cooking something from scratch isn't always possible & if your like me I don't feel like cooking for whatever reason, it makes life easier. Glad to see you appreciate or don't care for our weird, unusual or easy foods like we do. We love watching your reactions anyway & we all love our favorite Swedes & their adorable Swede Kitties so much. Thanks for a fun video… I just do want to add any of the comments that said junk food or it’s not real cheese duh everyone knows that however when I was a kid in the 70s, my mom made macaroni and cheese for four kids using cheese, whiz, and it was really good when she had more money she used real cheese and truthfully it sucked… So
It's not total junk, it's a TAD 'junky' due to preservatives etc..., likely a tad too much sodium and sugar, maybe? Orzo I think it's just the style of pasta. You two should check out all the pasta types there are a few TH-cam vids on the various types and shapes and why to use this type over that type etc... they are interesting... and IU think you'd be kinda blown away unless you are already familiar with the 100's of pasta shapes.
American cheese is purposely died that yellowish orange color I guess maybe to distinguish it however we do have white cheese like cheddar and everything else that they don't add the dye into or if you make your own cheese same thing it's just like a food coloring I think it was just to allow people to be able to tell the difference between other cheeses and cheddar but I don't know I'm not positive
If you email some of the product companies and explain you are getting their product and really like it , they will sometimes send you more product. It's just the american way,

Are you making an eight course meal? How does it take multiple hours to make a meal from scratch?

Your New Zealand Family has great videos of Walmart too...

Love the Velveeta box mixes, have two in cupboard right now!
If you can ever get Velveeta Shells & Cheese, it's delicious.
Thank you for another time to spend time with you all. May today find you and you loved ones healthy. LOVE FROM OREGON.

They did it right. Especially putting butter on corn bread. You are suppose too do that. The first Europeans to do it that I have seen.
Had it before. So good. You did a great job. The two of you are so fun and entertaining. You made my morning here in Florida. Take care.
When I do those I always make a salad
I love Velveeta products, as well as Hamburger Helper. These are very homey foods and meals meant to bring comfort. I always have good memories of them. I agree with you!
I love all the videos
You guys do. I enjoy them all.
Thanks for another great video. Hugz to you both and snuggles to the furbabies.
I eat around 4:30-5 too. And I’m from Louisiana
I enjoy the cooking shows
And your reactions when you try our normal food. I always add more broccoli
Have you ecer tried addubg corn to the Jiffy muffins? I like cream corn added!
Great job Recky, you are doing really well at cooking.

Just commenting to say hi and to send you guys some love❤
You should try adding whole kernel corn, or crumbled bacon when making your cornbread.
Convenience... it's how we shop, bank, etc...and cook!
If you mix baking soda and Jiffy corn bread with honey it will kill mice & rats ...just a FYI works great 😊
yeah, our work hours usually end at 5 so dinner is around 6
In parts of America, people break up the cornbread into big chunks and put it in a bowl and eat it with cold milk over it for breakfast.
I like my cornbread with a little peanut butter sometimes. Try spreading a little bit on top
With my diabetes I have to eat dinner around 5 pm or I start getting sick

I've never eaten one of these meals but i'm going to have to check out Walmart next time i'm there and maybe look into buying one of them to try
You know that before you know it, you will be in your new house. The enablers don't mind spoiling
you with products from the America.
can we see more of Carol?

Orzo rice like pasta.
it is pasta, orzo is not rice, it's rice-shaped pasta
Thanks for another amazing "It's Not A Cooking Show". It looks so delicious again! I'm hungry!
Nap time? When I eat pasta I get sleepy. Love your show❤️🥰🐈⬛🐈⬛👍😎
Love how you are cooking in cast iron.
they are high in sodium...you can always add more fresh broccoli and other veggies :D
There's no honey in the corn muffins. That's a suggestion of what you use to top it with along with butter.

God bless chemicals.
Orzo is a pasta
Orzo = aka "Bird Tongues"
Weird shit tastes good 😅😅😅😅
Love it
Never again make that without actually adding more chicken and broccoli. You don't get enough of anything in just the packets
How much longer for the new house? Isn’t it four weeks?
3 weeks and 4 days 😍
@@reckyNcarol Even better!!
Can you tell us Americans love our cheese?
