People need to start moving away from areas that are repeatedly hit by hurricanes. Let the area return to being a natural wetland, which would help to prevent flooding further inland.

The Luminary Hotel also has its guest parking garage above the first floor and away from flood damaging their guests’ cars. You can see the louver slats to divert the open parking garage from rain and wind damage.

Hurricane security for a peninsula in warm waters triggers non related political comments.

Residential construction is still a joke. Just watch the roofs peel off. Walls held together by nails doesn't provide for a strong structure, pulls apart easily. The idea of quality has yet to hit America

You make a building hurricane-proof, then an earthquake gets it 😅

      Are earthquakes common in Florida?
Also, Chilean here. You bet that an earthquake-resistant building is more likely to resist a hurricane that a flimsy building made without any resistance in mind.
Rebuilding again and again is always the most expensive option. And not the smartest.

Most of the time they're kind of mutually exclusive bc wind is faster over flat lands which leads to windstorms, whereas earthquakes cause mountains and canyons which break up wind. Probably exceptions or meeting points of those but kind of interesting.

I fear more for the loss of terrestrial-based wildlife and their habitats.
We are losing these Gifts of Nature at a quick pace before they have a chance to evolve with the climate's changes.
Those who are able to survive and migrate will face obstacles dealing with humans in their high density communities.
Guess which species will suffer the most?
Good examples are in the Amazon where Orangutans are left homeless without their families and intact habitats as the forests are razed with wild abandon for human encroachments.

When Barack and Nancy abandon their coastal mansions, I'll think about paying more taxes to change the weather.

Here's my question; Why are Americans being stopped at the boarder while exiting the United State, and Question? As if we're living in a Police State? Americans Hello? Not to mention; If you don't get the New real ID. You can't flying in or out've the United States? Like your being forced to get it or these are the consequence's?

Here's my question: Are you an American? Did you attend school? Did you pass? Did you drop out after the fourth grade?

Do you really think that if anything of that were actually happening, Fox, NewsMax, Right Side Broadcasting Network and the whole world of media national and international wouldn't be covering that 24/7? What would be the consequences for international airlines forbidden to do business in the States? What about the Mexicans and the Canadians? What about the seaports?
And, by the way, an ID with picture for everybody is a MAGA idea to prevent ""millions of illegals voting"" as they imagine is happening. Shouldn't you be happy if there were one - like most civilized countries have, anyway?
Finally, if anything of that were happening and you indeed were living in a police state, you wouldn't dare to say anything on social media. Ever seen a Russian or a Chinese around talking about their countries? Chilean here. I grew up in a real-life military dictatorship. For your life, you didn't dare to talk to anyone.
Lack of education can be corrected, lack of capacity to think things through, not that much.

Passport is forever replacement if you have fears about real ID but also in favor of more secure voting or any more secure ID procedures.
