What a pretty guitar. I don't know much about the Pacifica lineup but I must say that the price seems fairly reasonable considering the hardware (bridge, pups, nut, tuners), especially when compared to Fender's offerings.
Love Yamaha guitars. You get alit for the money. The old Pacificas were fantastic. I have an AC5R acoustic that I love. Thanks for the demonstration Steve!
I've both owned and played a few Pacificas and especially with the mid to higher end of the line, I cannot say enough good things about them. Crazy value for the money, feel great in the hands (even my medium small hands) and they sound / play great. Best of all their QC is some of the best you can get on an import guitar, it's been bang on every single time I've played or owned one. My one and only gripe is I wish they came with jumbo frets instead of medium.
I think I'm going to buy one. I've been so on the fence for so many different guitars but this seems to be the right guitar definitely worth all the components and the great price. Thank you so much. I love your videos
I still have my Pacifica 1221! No one has done a better bolt on neck joint since then and you don't need to cut off the ball-ends for the licensed Floyd-rose
This was the last in line for my HSS choice, before Sterling dropped the new at the time Cutlass CT50. As far as value for the specs to price ratio. Really good. The bridge pickup is the TB-14, which I ended up going with on this Cutlass build. The ssl-1 single coils are weak. SSL-6's are a better choice for me. They blend with the fairly hot TB-14 easier. Wired mine for bridge and neck in position 2, so when the bridge is coilsplit the Tele tones are on tap.
The roasted maple neck and fretboard on the Sterling is the winner. Sorry Yamaha, I waited till Sweetwater had Revstars back in stock. Before buying one of the new Element models.
Got one of these in matte translucent black and it is wonderful. Yamaha makes fine guitars.
Nice choice, Steve...and excellent playing - as usual. Good grief, Yamaha is such a vast company with an eye for details, precision, technology, and they deliver huge value for the cost.
The only thing I would change would be a 2 point trem instead of the one it has.
The middle pup combined with the split bridge had more quack to it...I have a 90's Yamaha 120SD which is the tele style with two direct mount humbuckers...it was one of their lower models back then but fun to play and a great feeling neck. I see a comparo with this and your 90's Pacifica on Saturday night!

It's a really nice looking guitar. I've fancied one for years ever since one of my favorite guitar players, Soren Andersen (guitarist and producer for Glenn Hughes) released his guitar album "Guilty Pleasures" Check it out, I think you will like it. He plays a modified Pacifica with two DiMarzio humbuckers on all the tracks on that album.

I've got a Line6 Variax Standard, its always out plugged into my Helix with the DI RJ-45 type cable. It is supposed to be a Yamaha Pacifica with Variax guts and also magnetic pickups. I actually really like this guitar. It plays well and is supper versatile being a Variax too.
Replaced the nut on my guitar with a graph tech nut and string trees, superb for tuning stability great review and playing as allways, your distortion sound is great.
I have the red one. It's the only Strat I have ever bought, and will likely remain so. Tremendous value.

The only blemish guitar I ever bought I can find anything on was a Harley Benton SG with the neck strap button was so loose you couldn’t fix it so I plugged it and moved it off the neck to the body better anyway
Amazing guitar if you want something that's already modded with all the stuff you'd probably want.

Back in the 90's I had a pacifica rgx512 natural with a trs-pro. My favorite guitar that I ever owned(bought at Sam Ash in White Plains, NY). I lent it to a friend for a gig and it got stolen along with much of the bands gear. Sad...

I’m a lefty and in the Pacifica they only have cheap ass guitars now if I go to their other one that newer brand the rev star so I can get a professional in black or blue
