Captain Lou Albano was a WWE (Then WWF) wrestler who both voiced the animated character of Mario and played a live action version of him in the 80s TV show "The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!", so that's where that somewhat odd looking portrayal of a man in a Mario hat comes from. It's kind of obscure media nowadays, but they did base the Mario Bros. commercial jingle from the movie version on the show's opening theme song. Now why they thought it was a good idea for him to do an anti-drug PSA where he told kids they would go to hell, idk they were probably on drugs.
3:45 my only recollection of this specific PSA is when it was spoofed on an episode of Robot Chicken. After the egg and plates and clock she goes on a city wide rampage and smacking cars and puppies and police officers. She ended up smacking herself off a building King Kong style.
That's right, they even got the same actress, Rachael Leigh Cook, from the original PSA to reprise the role too, so it's basically canon to the This Is Your Brain on Drugs Cinematic Universe.
The actual best anti drug PSA I've ever seen is tips from a former smoker. No big production, just former smokers with horrific disfigurements telling us about their daily lives.
I feel like that Rachel Leigh-Cook "This is Your Brain on Drugs" campaign was a response to the original-ad becoming a joke (and possibly the heroin-scare after Kurt Cobain.) It was a meme in the goddamn 1980s. "This is your brain on drugs, any questions?" Is this considered brain-food? Can I get my brains scrambled? Brains on toast? Is there a side of bacon? and the immortal "What kinda drugs are YOU on? Looks like a frying-pan and some eggs to me!"
We don’t really know how dangerous cannabis actually is since it was a schedule 1 drug so there haven’t been enough studies to determine its effects long term.
You guys don't know Captain Lou Albano?! He was the original Mario VA and live action actor for the old tv show. Man's a legend (also a famous wwe? wrestler)
Also the show aired almost 40 years ago and albano died in 2009, almost 20 years ago It's entirely possible there's people who have no idea who he is Hell I'm in my thirties and I was born after the show aired
@Sigismund697 I knew about Albano since I was a kid, and im in my 20s. Though Im a Mario fan so it could just be that Im more familiar with details about the series.
@@rotciv557 yeah you and me But for each one of us there are hundreds that have no idea what a Mario is beyond whatever game is most recently released It's why they chose Pratt to voice Mario instead of Martinet Because most people are gonna recognise the big Hollywood funny than than the VA only enthusiasts know about
When I really think about it, I have never seen a bleeding nose in that context outside of TV. I have never seen a PSA or something like that here in Germany. They feel so forced and are just way too over the top. Drugs should be regulated and safely produced, some people will always take them but they should at least be safe in my opinion.
And now let's hear from Othaia the Bones and Oona the Moans in the new updated PSA against drugs. Oh wait...it might give kids nightmares because they might think they'll end up dead since one is all bones and the other is incorporeal. Nevermind...we now return you to the Saturday Morning Cartoon Special already in progress. Oh...that doesn't exist either just like PSA anti drug commercials. Well...shucks.

@@Jon-Patrick-S that PSA and that RobotChicken bit live rent free in my head to this very century.

That one cowboy with the robot voice singing "You don't always die from tobacco" lives rent-free in my head.

Talktofrank was definitely British.
The voiceover was David Mitchell, a well known comedian over here.
Do the Mario. Swing you hips, from side to side.
I remember this being one of my first jontron vids years ago and so glad yall got to react to it ^^
The farting one would have been more impactful if it was like “I don’t call myself a murderer. I’m just a social murderer”
Woo! My 2 favorite undeadites! I always enjoy your videos. For the algorithm gwaaads!
