What a busy time lambing with the storm all around. You take good care of the sheep and we appreciate that. It shows what good shepherds are. Not everyone knows how much-loved your sheep are.

Have used Nz Suffolk and NZ Texel here since 2015 and never go back to commercial rams ,they last and don't go lame .The first NZ Suffolk we had done 8 seasons never fed meal or touched his feet

I used to work on a dairy & we would put chains on the calves legs & pull like hell,it was a farm in Australia ran by women,I loved that job,must be great to grow up on a farm

Don’t worry about replying to comments! Take care of your ewes and lambs first. You can edit and post later, indoors where it’s dry and warm - we can wait for those replies later! And get some sleep as well - not something any shepherd has enough of during lambing time ❤️🐑
can you send some rain to NZ - they promised us rain today and for the next 4 days and we have only had an hour of light drizzle - so dry here that we are in drought for most of the country and farmers are feeding winter feed already - we need the rain before it gets cold into winter so they get some grass growing back

Indeed! Have seen other farmer videos about struggling with Storm Kathleen. Huge lambing losses from wet and cold, all over. It’s encouraging to see how well these Mayo Blackface ewes are holding up in the wind and rain.
What make is the small quad trailer. Can ya take top and sides off for quad?

Do lambs imprint like geese?
Hard work outdoor lambing at anytime nevermind in a storm .We lamb indoors and see every lamb born , every lamb is tubed , navel dipped , put into an individual mothering pen and 2 days later after their tail is ringed , flock marked , scratched for orf , vaccinated and the ewe is dosed for worms , scratched for orf,has her tag washed and flock marked and all details recorded, then moved to a nursery pen . We check them eery three hours at night and that's what I define as lambing , hard work but topprices at the market , carcass competition winners and above all the acknowledgement from fellow shepherds that we have good sheep makes it all worthwhile .HALF STOCK FULL PROFIT, FULL STOCK HALF PROFIT.

Here in the US across the pond, we’d say that very talkative lamb who got right up to the camera, was giving his stump speech running for some political office 🤣🤣🤣🤣❤️🐑. Either that, or he was trying to get his opinions heard for a TV news show…
New Zealand Charollais far better than NZ Suffolks 😆
So what do you do with those horned sheep, their wool is crap, they are small sheep, so they aren’t going to pay as fat lambs at the works, is it subsidy that’s making them viable
Keep in mind most of Karol’s Mayo Blackface sheep are raised organic, so even though they are small, they earn top dollar in the food chain. Most of the year they are up on the mountain, Ben Bulben, with no supplemental feed other than the organic Crystalyx.
