Great video Landon, very interesting mods to the teles as well.
I myself have a squier custom 60’s from 2015 that was heavily modified (only the original body remains).
Humbucker in the neck (SD antiquity I), SD antiquity I in the bridge, a custom made 500k pots with 0.22 uf capacitor wiring loom, brass saddles, an american original 60’s tele custom rosewood neck and all else :)
Even though I have guitars that are more special or desirable, the journey of doing it in the past 6 years or so made it my favorite guitar, plus it sounds and plays so great.
Thanks for taking the time for making the video!

I wasn’t a Tele fan, then I was. Bought an Olympic white Mexican (guitar not person). But I ended up swapping it after six months for a frosty green Les Paul Muse (that stays in a case and I never play it because I’m an idiot). The same with a Strat Player series I have. (Stays in the case because I like to hide purchases from my wife). I just can’t seem to pull them out. I end up playing this cheap Strat guitar kit my wife bought me. I put in better tuners, modified a Squire perloid guard to fit and put in 250k pots, orange drop, and vintage Squire ceramic pickups. Painted it in surf green and had it set up professionally. It just feels right in my hands for the softer bluesy tones I like. I found the fretboard on my tele really dry. My fingers would stick to it as it absorbed my soul (sorry absorbed my sweat). Lemon oiled it and it reminded me what I was like at 19 chugging beers!.

I was a poor 1 Squier Strat guy from my teens until my late 20s. Now I have 5 Teles:
A Partscaster w/ said Strat’s neck (carved into a Tele head), a Squier Master Series chambered HH (sorta pre-Troublemaker circa mid 2000s), one of those “sandblasted” Harley Bentons w/ Filtertrons, one’s kinda a pickup tester made from really cheap wood, and last is the Whiteguard Strat (basically a Nocaster w/ a Strat body)
I only wanted one. But the right deals fell in my lap, and they didn’t break the bank. And I know I’ll end up giving 1 or 2 away to family one day, but they sound/feel so different!!! Gah!!!!

My favorite one is an old squire swamp ash body with a quarter sawn maple and ebony neck from Warmoth body is butterscotch blond with tortoise shell pick guard the pickups I put on it are a lace sensor neck, middle is a Duncan noiseless stack P90 and bridge is a Demarzio Area 51. I haven’t found any guitar yet that curls my toes when I play it more than this one!

When I was 16 I only knew about Strats and they're objectively slick looking and when I first found out there was another ocaster I laughed out loud at how the tele looked. It seemed deformed or intentionally ugly. No matter how I try now I can't see what I saw then. They are very attractive looking to me and it's all I really need to play.

The 2016 Telecaster with the Shawbuckers sounded awesome and I loved the tone of the white Tele as well. Those guitars not only sounded great, but 'right's. My next project is WARMOTH Tele shaped body with a WARMOTH 24 3/4" conversion neck--2 guitars. One with a hot Duncan hum cancelling in the bridge and a Strat style hum cancelling neck pickup . The other will be a DiMarzio PAF PRO in the bridge, just one pickup blues rock blues hard rock metal machine!! Have the money saved for one and the next move is to sell one or two if my guitars then I'm in total business .😎🤟🤟😎

@@landonbailey the guitar with two single coils will have a mahogany back with a 1/4" carved plain maple top---I like the tone of plain maple best because it's a bit brighter than quilt or flamed.the single 'bucker guitar will have a basswood back with a 1/4" carved walnut top.this wood combo, when used with a humbucker played thru distortion produces extra growl.while walnut isnt as bright as maple it's close and has a lot of sustain.

Very nice collection indeed Landon. Unfortunately, I don't have the space for that many. My 2 guitars sit in the living room, and together with my Yamaha THR ii, they are always within striking distance, which I find very handy, that I don't have to go to another room just to pick up a guitar. (I will come to the question later) As you may know, I am the proud owner of Mystic Surf Green Rosewood American Pro ii Tele and I think it is beautiful and wonderful to play. The neck is just wonderful. Anyway, you know that yourself. However.... Fender Japan make some very nice, and not too expensive guitars like their current Traditional series and the Hybrid series (don't like the cutaway in the Hybrid ii series). They have for example Vintage White and for example Lake Placid Blue guitars, both with Rosewood necks. I am very tempted to get one of those directly from a shop in Japan. Have you been tempted to get your hands on one of those and if not, is it not about time? 😁

Thanks for the video Landon, it's on my favourite subject.
I'm detecting a pattern... Fully half of those (most excellent) guitars had 'features' that you didn't know about when you ordered them. Research not your strong-suit or are you an impulse buyer?
Also is the neck on that "60s" Tele (the one off a Thinline) actually made the the 1960s? I'm so over Fender calling things by a certain year when they're in fact 'copies'. I have a Tele bridge pickup in my T-Style that I bought new and all that I know about it is that it's "vintage" (Fender part number 005-3782-000). It was bagged, brand new. It's not freakin' vintage!

    • @Shaun.Stephens
      @Shaun.Stephens 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

So I did some better Googling and found that my bridge pickup is one that Fender built for their 1952 Reissues made pre-2012. I bought it as a NOS part. just as 'Fender Vintage'. It would probably suit an Esquire build (not that I don't like it..).

Its super cheap and when you install it you get double the number of tones. Basically you get the pickups connected in series, out of phase, and on a strat you also get the combination of pickups that aren't usually available stock (like neck + bridge together or all three together).
