The people in Marley know this and choose to believe that the people in the walls are devils no different than back then which is just illogical. They have no interest in even trying to understand the people of Paradis. So the fact that Eren is now going on the offensive and giving them exactly what they tried to give Paradis is understandable to me. The only part of his plan that tends to make me view him as a villain is, he knows there are good people, innocent people who live in Marley and the rest of the world. Like how he mentions Falco being one of them. The same way Reiner realized that when he went to Paradis. The fact that Eren knows this yet can still go through with the plan is really the only evil thing about it all. But overall I understand him. It's one of those things where there is no easy or right answer.
There are a few reasons for this. When he got the memories of the attack Titan after he came in contact with Historia broke him apart. After he saw the entire Scout Regiment get wiped and him having to choose to save between his friend and Erwin who was basically a father figure to him drove him mad. From the past we know that whoever holds the founding Titan their emotions and behaviour changes drastically,Eren had it inside him for 4 years even if he can use it,it still influenced him
"Just wants to watch the world burn"...the words he said in the video here shows he doesn't see things as black and white anymore. Eren from season 1 would've fit that description well-enough, but even then not completely, and as of now, Eren had too much character development to show that he is way more nuanced than that.
No you've got it wrong, Eren DOES feel sympathy, he understands now exactly how Reiner and Bertoldt felt when they attacked innocent people and no longer condemns them for it. That's why he says they're the same, Eren has come to realize that Reiner was just another person like Eren put into a no win situation. Eren thinks they're the exact same up until Reiner takes responsibility and tells Eren flat out "No, I could have chosen not to do any of that but did because I was pursuing a selfish ideal" and I think Eren even agrees with that to an extent, even if he knows he'd make the same choice 10 times out of 10. Yea i agree its impressive that they can voice act so good even though they record from home now both the sub and dub have their own vibe and mood of it in this scene
Can't believe Isayama basically gave us Eren's entire motivation in this talk before he even did anything post-timeskip. Like, every single thing he says to Reiner. Damn Manga spoilers: . . . . "I am the same as you" He kept lying to himself and to others that the Rumbling was to save Paradis to deal with the guilt of taking so many lives, but inside he always knew that it was for his own selfish desire of limitless freedom. Reiner kept lying to himself and to others that attacking Paradis was to save the world from the devils within the walls to deal with the guilt of taking so many lives, but inside he always knew that it was for his own selfish desire to be recognised as a hero. This is why Reiner is the one to realise on the plane that Eren _wanted_ to be stopped. He went through the exact same thing Eren was going through.
Spot on, excpet Eren wasn't lying about being the same as Reiner, and he was NEVER selfish. The fact that Eren first thought he was worse than Reiner in the timeskip until that talk, and then how Eren was perceived as THE HERO 100% in the ending, respectively proves both counter points I mentioned.

One of his coldest/chilling lines was in Memories of the Future, where he said “If someone tries to steal my freedom from me, I’ll take theirs first without a second thought.”
Honestly prefer Sub. I think the calmer approach of Yuki Kaji is more appropriate to Eren’s character at this moment. And in general I prefer the lines in sub than dub. But the Dub is great as well and I can see why some people would prefer it. Erwin dub is particularly amazing and on par with sub imo and in some cases even exceeding the sub. But as an overall watching experience I’d take sub personally
Eren here calls them his comrades. This is after he met with Zeke and started defying paradise government, so I think the way he acts later in the season doesn't truly represent him like we're led to believe
@@Stratilex it was a bluff....AOT is really very deep....Eren sacrifices his most valuable relationship with Armin and MIKASA..so that he can accomplish the mission..for the people of paradise...for the well being of his friends...
Sub eren is like logical calm. Dub eren has this sarcastic silent rage that is just controlled by his learned logic. Its so different that it makes the viewing experience unique
This is one of my favorite scenes in the show, erens dub voice actor killed it and the character progression for eren throughout the show is incredible
Forgave who?? That tybur who put his own people in danger just so he could achieve his shitty plan..he is and will always be true villian to his own people
he did forgive them but didn't have a choice but to attack like he did ...he said this throughout the convo though i don't understand why did he attacked marley in the first place??? to retrieve zeke??
@@rony86 it was because Marley had declared war. Notice Eren’s attack starts right when tybur declared the war. Eren was basically waiting for him to do that so that he can strike. He forgave them but if Eren didn’t attack, Marley was gonna eventually attack their island. So Eren just put them at a disadvantage by attacking them when they weren’t ready
He did grow, and he did forgive Reiner and the warriors. But how does this apply to Willy Tybur, who declared an unjust and unethical war for selfish reasons? Eren had no choice but to rise to the occasion literally. The fact that he transformed AFTER said declaration said it all, and even though I can tell you might be making a joke here, it sucks that you seem to be missing this lol
I really like the sub but I felt like the English va really nailed this. In the sub I couldn’t tell Eren was still pissed until he transformed in this I can tell from the very beginning both va did a great job in my opinion
You got it wrong if you thought Eren was pissed. He was not angry at all, he felt pity for Reiner and the rest of the people there that they had to die bcz that's the only way of Paradis survival. Dub makes him unnecessarily angry sounding.
I love it when Falco ask Eren if it’s true that him and Reiner were old friends and he said They have a whole lot to catch up on 😂😂😂 just like good ol times of feeling betrayed
Even after all the pain and suffering they caused Eren and his family he was still willing to let it go but then they just had to declare war. Eren does nothing wrong in the end.
I love how well anime as a whole uses the eye for an eye concept. Reminds me of when Pain attacked the Leaf Village and Naruto didn't understand why until he broke it down to him and actually made mass murder make sense
Love the Naruto comparisons! In fact, something I've been saying for a while is that Naruto has more in common with Eren than Armin, who deserves to be the butt of the countless talk no jutsu jokes thrown at Naruto, which anyone who watched the show knows he doesn't deserve them. If Naruto was in the AOT universe, I think he would agree more with Eren in the time skip over Armin.
I feel like they’re opposites sides of the coin. Both saw a cycle of hate and war that would consume both sides. Eren’s solution is to render neither side incapable of destroying the other, Naruto’s is to simply absorb the hate and not continue to spread it. It helps that in the Pain case everyone got to come back to life like it never happened.
@@wargriz8213Yea cause i mean when Pain it broke down and said "what about my people, my family, my friends" the war in rain village destroyed everything there and Pain told Naruto "you die for yours, and i'll die for mine". We often see villains as antagonists but in reality alot of them are just protagonists from a different perspective. If you take from me, i'll take from you, 10 fold. The way hate consumed Eren and Pain, and the way both of em showed no mercy... and i truly believe if Pains motive was to kill Naruto and Jiraiya never warned Naruto about him he wouldve destroyed the leaf village and killed Naruto, easily. I really hate the eye for an eye concept... but i definitely understand it.
I like sub and dub idc how they speak this is one of the greatest animes in history and that's what I love and respect about this show the dedication and the creativity.
Very late to the party here, but god damn I watched dragon ball as a kid and finally decided to give this show a go. Literally the best show I’ve ever seen. The theme completely changed when this happened. Eren is the goat.

I think Eren is a really cool character. A lot of people give him crap because he killed a bunch of people (so none of your favorite characters have ever killed people?). He's my favorite character because of the growth. At first he was just some annoying kid who thought he could take on anything that came his way, but as time went on, he became much more mature and "real" per se. From the moment he touched Historia's hand he knew what he had to do. __MANGA SPOILER__ He made his friends hate him (tried to at least) just so they would kill him in the end when he started the rumbling. Because killing him would make them look good to everybody else and would make them look like saviors. Basically, Eren saved his friends and all the other Eldians from an all out war. Of course, I'm not saying that he should have killed all those people, but the Marleyan's/others weren't exactly above killing Eldians either.
I haven’t read the manga and haven’t seen the new episode that was just released but my theory was that Eren did all that so the paradis “devils” kill him and become the saviors of the world. Now it’s confirmed. I’m still gonna watch the final episodes though lol
And it resulted in nothing back to people hating the devils except now no titan powers it’s just guns now every death he shed tears for was for nothing Mf should’ve just fucked everyone over

I dont think it’s justified, but it’s not even insanity. I think what Eren chose to do in season 4, especially with the amount of time he had left, was perfectly rational.

I have no idea who else saw but a lady in the crowd got bodied by a flying rock at 4:20
Holy shit nice catch dude
It’s at 4:20 😏
She got stoned lol

damnn good eye!
I love english Eren and nobody can change that. This speech was waaaay colder then the japanese version.
Facts
no it was not
sub is better
english anime barely have all the episodes
Yea i agree its impressive that they can voice act so good even though they record from home now both the sub and dub have their own vibe and mood of it in this scene
Eren: “Reiner, sit.”
Reiner: “I’M SAT.”
LMAO
Eren: ah, so both do agree on something!
"Reiner, shit"
Jesus Christ they grew into their roles so well. Bryce sounds like a damn menace
If you think about it, Erens Titan has always been demon looking. Kinda makes sense for what he’s about to do.
Can't believe Isayama basically gave us Eren's entire motivation in this talk before he even did anything post-timeskip. Like, every single thing he says to Reiner. Damn

"I am the same as you"
He kept lying to himself and to others that the Rumbling was to save Paradis to deal with the guilt of taking so many lives, but inside he always knew that it was for his own selfish desire of limitless freedom.
Finally someone else who gets it. Reiner was the only person eren ever told the truth to.
@@peasanttoking6839 well actually ramzi

@@peasanttoking6839 What ? this is explained in this very scene they just cut it weird. You guys make it sound like you found a deeper meaning :D

4:00 will ALWAYS be iconic “I’ll just keep moving forward, till I’ve killed my enemies”
I really like Willy Tyburs voice actor it really fits him
I did not think Bryce could actually intimidate me but dang his performance nailed it
One of his coldest/chilling lines was in Memories of the Future, where he said “If someone tries to steal my freedom from me, I’ll take theirs first without a second thought.”
It's funny how scared Reiner looks when he sees Mr. Kruger.

This reminds me of when Eren was on the boat in season 1 ep 2 dub.

0:00 At least Eren used his manners.
That roar is dope. I missed it. Im not a native english speaker but aot dub is better than sub anyday.
Stop the cap
Yeah come on man we all know you can have opinions that contradict what the sub people think.
@@Steelforged what cap ?
Honestly prefer Sub. I think the calmer approach of Yuki Kaji is more appropriate to Eren’s character at this moment. And in general I prefer the lines in sub than dub. But the Dub is great as well and I can see why some people would prefer it. Erwin dub is particularly amazing and on par with sub imo and in some cases even exceeding the sub.
But as an overall watching experience I’d take sub personally
@@justskiddingaround-idontkn7519 i think people just like sub over dub just because it comes early than dub episodes.

Eren: "AND WE ACCEPT!"

Damn what is paradise isp
Eren here calls them his comrades. This is after he met with Zeke and started defying paradise government, so I think the way he acts later in the season doesn't truly represent him like we're led to believe
What do you mean? Clarify plz.

Youre not thinking deep. In real life, you push away ppl you care for. He's pushing them away so he can achieve his goal.
when Eren has been so broken he easily commanded Reiner like a good dog

Its so different that it makes the viewing experience unique

Forgave who?? That tybur who put his own people in danger just so he could achieve his shitty plan..he is and will always be true villian to his own people
he did forgive them
but didn't have a choice but to attack like he did ...he said this throughout the convo
though i don't understand why did he attacked marley in the first place??? to retrieve zeke??
@@rony86 to do as much damage to Marley as possible before the rumbling. All the world leaders were attending the event aswell

I don’t know why I never realized, but Willie and Eren pretty much both vocally declared war at the same time, really cool
The music build up @ 4:07 is so perfect...epic sync!!!!
Whats its name ?
I refuse to believe this is the same guy that cried over his step sis
I love how well anime as a whole uses the eye for an eye concept. Reminds me of when Pain attacked the Leaf Village and Naruto didn't understand why until he broke it down to him and actually made mass murder make sense
In some angles Eren's Titan face reminds me of Jeff the Killer.
Imagine if this was season 1 instead of season 4. Eren would look like the most badass villain ever, and Falco would be a regular shonen hero.
This scene was so intense.
“....until I kill my enemies!” 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

0:17 when someone ask if we were old High School buddies
“Evening, it’s been four years… *Rhino”*
-TH-cam subtitles
Ngl I really love Eren’s sub voice and the sub of Aot alot but in my opinion I think the dub version of Eren lowkey executed better for this particular scene. Just in my opinion , I love how he sounded and looked so calm but also how he had an aggressive tone in how he spoke.
It seems everyone at Marley respect and see Reiner highly. But when faced by Eren, he breaks down. And Falco sees that
I think Eren is a really cool character.
__MANGA SPOILER__
He made his friends hate him (tried to at least) just so they would kill him in the end when he started the rumbling.
And it resulted in nothing back to people hating the devils except now no titan powers it’s just guns now every death he shed tears for was for nothing Mf should’ve just fucked everyone over
This was the greatest moment in AOT in my opinion. The epitome of the direction the show shouldve headed in before it went to crap with Marley bootlicker fans. Reiner shouldve died alongside
“He killed a bunch of people” is certainly one way to describe killing 80% of humanity.
Fun fact: Reiner starting in this season was the main character eren wasn’t a main character anymore he was the main antagonist the bad guy…the villain, the final boss.
Omgosh I can't get over this 😭 3:57-4:13
then try going under it 👍
Didn't think it was possible with all the epic scenes that have come before this one, but nothing is as chilling as that conversation
Eren was justified in his insanity. Just so we're all clear.
I dont think it’s justified, but it’s not even insanity. I think what Eren chose to do in season 4, especially with the amount of time he had left, was perfectly rational.
Eren: you fucked around Reiner, and now you're gonna FIND out!
From damn you traitors to this scene we all have come a long way!
I know I shouldn't enjoy this but seeing Reiner groveling in front of Eren, well... there's just something special about that
Reiner was completely terrified of Eren in the scene
“As for why?” “I don’t really have a choice” Erens life is on rails bro
4:32 when I stub my toe:
SUCH A CALM AND REASONABLE PERSON
It's scary enough that the shifters (especially the colossal) can just annihilate an area with their transformations alone.
Bro literally lives up to the name. The guy declared war and within 0.0000000001 seconds the attack titan attacked.
"The guy" 💀
Lets be honest Reiner had it coming, not just him, Reiner, annie, and bertholdt deserved it. They invaded his and home and took his mother away from him and in return eren invades marley and destroys half the city in chaos. That was satisfying😇
