It's been awhile since we did a "5 Reasons Why" video so after spending time with Arcade1up NFL Blitz last weekend I came up with this. Let me know your Reasons Why below! You getting the Blitz?
Good list on pros and cons but I don’t think we see a sale on blitz till after the season ends perhaps a super bowl sale. Many could be waiting for reviews before purchasing it or may not have enough money to invest in both Blitz and MvC2. Still though even on its worst day I think Blitz is better than 80% of the games/cabinets released by arcade 1ups and that deserves a day one purchase for me. Only time will tell for everyone else though. Good content pdubs and I, like so many others enjoyed watching you guys interact in Chicago. It was like watching a virtual comic con of arcade 1up and IIarcade. Smiles all around and that’s what this hobby is all about.
I bet there will be sales around the holidays. It's the best time of year for people to do an impulse buy near the 2nd half of the football season when everyone is still paying attention to what teams are pushing for the playoffs. By the time the Superbowl arrives, a lot of people will either be buying new tvs to watch the SB on or be broke after holiday spending.
Sams Club on the west coast has Blitz out already at a price point of $629.98 that comes with an exclusive stool with some of the side panel players on it. I may get that one and save myself around $75 by not getting a team stool instead by just lying $25 more for this package.
Glad you decided to do another 5 reasons Dubs. Always liked them. As a massive football fan, I wanted Blitz but holding out for now. I’d just prefer an XL and a 2 player version as well. Dunno if that’ll ever happen but if a good enough sale were to come along, I’d consider it. Thanks for the +/- info bro!

After having it for a week I'd say ya pretty much hit the mains. Add an addendum for us Bears fans. QBs are Kramer and I hate even typing McNown. 😬 Truly is an absolute blast to play. Just got Happ buttons installed yesterday so the decks up to par. Loving the higher set slant too. Arcade Graphix needs to hurry with decals tho!

You're right regarding the space issue. To get The Simpsons into my arcade, I had to sell my Galaga and Asteroids. Going to have to get things going in my garage soon... Speaking of The Simpsons, I'll wait until Blitz goes on clearance like that cab did. I'll ALWAYS say that the quality isn't there for what you get. Carppy buttons, and controls. Basically particle board for wood. I mean, most of what you spend must go to the licensing. I really don't see where they are putting the money towards.
PDubs, Cool as always to hear your thoughts. It's funny, after hearing your first impressions of the cabinet in another video, how the game seemed to run faster. The updated framerate stats you provided in this video, is now my number one reason to not buy this cabinet; the updated gameplay feel. As you said in this video, it feels like a new game. That's not what I'm personally looking for. I like that you mentioned the older game running slower and the newer tech being able to make improvements, but as a person wanting to feel that original feel, this just wouldn't work for me. I have no doubt it would still be fun though. But could you imagine applying that logic to other older titles, fixing something like Space Invaders? With the limited hardware at the time, the more aliens on the screen, the slower the clip. As you destroy more aliens, the chip can draw them faster causing everything to speed up (this was originally an unintended result, but should it be fixed?). With the hardware today, you can have everything run faster, but is changing the experience the better way to go? Take what Michael from iiRcade said about Double Dragon. They had the capability to make the game run smoother at 60fps, but said, and I'm paraphrasing, it didn't feel like the original Arcade game, so they kept in the pace of the original hardware to make it feel like it was back in the day. Now, I'm not saying Arcade1up made a bad call here, maybe they could've offered a toggle between new and old gameplay. But since that's not the case, even if they came out with a 2-Player sized cab, only having the option to play this new version, would keep me away from this one, though I won't say it wouldn't be fun. And I think Arcade1up should've gone all in with this new vision of Blitz, replacing late hits with handshakes and hugs. This is a Midway title after all, and why not take the "Friendship" aspect from Mortal Kombat and apply it here? I'm so glad you like this cab and can't wait for the review! :) vgv
Have to agree that the 4 player cabs are a waste of space - there just is not enough room to get 4 adults around these things to play - A1U should design some sort of system to allow 2 2 player cabs to be connected to play the same game on both cabs - that way those wanting 4 player could just buy 2 2 player cabs and link them when playing 4 player or play 2 different games with 2 players - having 2 blitz cabs linked together would be much more comfortable to play and would not take up much more space than a single unplayable 4 player cab.
I preordered this cab which is the first A1Up I evered preordered and payed basically full price for. 600 is alot of money, but I ordered thru best buy and they had 10% off if you used their card. So it ended being 533 before tax. Oh well, its gonna be fun as heck.
For me, it’s the $600 price tag for a low quality cabinet with a game that has content removed. Biggest issue is that this leans towards being a game for the older crowd but having 4 teens/adults hunched over should to shoulder on this tiny machine sucks. Too short, too small. I agree, Make it 2 player, put the real game on it, make it taller and quit price gouging.

Also, I used to laugh at how, when you're kicking the AI team's ass in the first half, it ramps up the difficulty at the start of the 2nd half!! Big fan of the game when i heard they were making it i was stoked. I didn't preorder for mainly 2 reasons 1 no late hits that was big to me its not a total deal breaker but it hurts alot. Its like taking fatalities out of mk! 2 like u said was the 4 player deck, should of been a 2p deck . That being said if the reviews are good and we see a price drop down to around 400-450 i will probably get it then.
Me and my brother played a ton of n64 blitz. Never played an arcade version. We were both never big sports game fans. Blitz excelled in the fact that it was a free for all blurring the lines from reality. The late hits and trash talking made it super fun. This version removes most of what made the game interesting to me. It’s a shame the nfl made them modify it. I won’t be picking this up due to the lack of quality and price. If I come across one for 300$ or less I may pick it up. If arcade1up expects people to pay 700$ it needs to be top notch. I’m new to the 3/4 scene and have six machines now. I would never pay full price for anything they have released in the last two years. The quality needs to be stepped up big time for a 700$ price tag. 300-400$ is a great price for what they are offering currently. I have no issues paying for quality products from any company.
Elected to pass on n this for mvc2…. The sped up frame rate is a deal breaker for me on top of the shortcomings with game modification . Horrible marquee and 4 player was not needed unless it was a pro cab with viable space …. Once it goes to $399 im in I do like the new artwork minus the grain issue
No way Simpsons arcade has been on sale for $200 and saw xmen for $369 and this will be the same. These cabs drop so fast in price and turtles to $450. I would never buy any of these machines brand new. They drop so fast in 6 months. Big brand NFL expect to see them cheap like Simpsons.
@T Dog and @Consolefanboy since you guys asked here are my thoughts , I only watched a little. There’s only 1 reason to buy this cab, online play, and nobody has even seen that yet. Otherwise you might as well play Blitz Pro. This is a worse version of blitz pro which you can get on multiple consoles. Also everyone has the ps1 REAL version, the Dreamcast, the N64 . If online sucks , you’re not going play this much and if you really want to play with friends, just sit on the couch spread out and enjoy the real Game. You can also play this on Fightcade or a multicab. More bad news coming from this review , bad marquee , bad art , still on a riser with a cheap build, etc. the only selling point is 49 way sticks and we already saw they had calibration issues . $650 for A worse version of Blitz pro that is not even lose to Blitz. It’s very sad that then Illuminati convinced everyone to preorder and didn’t share any of this info that the game is sped up, missing players , missing audio , missing tackles, they never even played it but convinced people to preorder . Sure it’s fun to play , but so is sitting around with friends and playing 4 people on 60 inch tv and the real blitz . And how many times are you going to have people over to play ? Honestly this is nba jam all over again. And at least online play for nba jam is ok . I’m not spending $650 for an arcade that I won’t play much and when I do want to play blitz , I’ll just play the real one in a variety of ways. It’s groundhogs day again , gotta have it like MK30 , like BB , like Tron , like T2 , like KI, like Xmen, like Simpsons, like TMNT …. I’ll pass and spend $650 on something else. I’ll put it towards another pinball . Somehow this will be spun to I’m a hater but if they made this right , and it was the real game , I would have considered buying it.
Thanks for the feedback Rex...I think I covered all your points or many similar points in the video. I have approached this cabinet with the "buyer beware" so consumers who come across it know all the pros and cons of this cab prior to making a purchase. Yes I was disappointed that some of the demo units they sent out content creators only pointed out the positives but in the end I can only control the content I release.
it is getting to the point for 700 freakin dollars i would just find a real arcade cab and mod the jamma to play anything i want and it wouldnt b e crap emulation
Arcade1Up first came out, I owed a few, it was cool and thought my Guests would enjoy it when I had parties 🎈 it was barely played, to small, many complaints, and my guests rather played corn hole 🕳️ it was then I sold it all and never looked back. Don’t get me wrong it’s looks cool just take up spaces and never used.
That's an interesting take. The last thing I thought about was how friends would react. I just got the games I loved as a kid for my own selfish experience ☺️ my friends still play it from time to time, but these aren't designed for heavy play, so what it gets is perfect. I own a corn hole game too and need to get my boards out of storage. Just got some new bags so it's on!😁
Wow. All 5 of the no's are not my radar. 1-5 for me is the price. I can wait. I'd like to go on the record and say I could give a $#@! about the late hits. I'd be upset if the taunts were removed. PS huge football fan, specifically NFL and I have a barcade that is dying for this
So the three major reasons I've heard folks say this game sucks is 1. No late hits 2. Washed out marque, 3. Grainy cabinet art!!! WTF!!! If the game is fun with a bunch of friends big deal!!!! In all honesty I dont think the average person is even gonna notice or even care about those issues! I know I dont!!!
@@PDubsArcadeLoft I get that. But why not just buy a bunch of ALUs+CoinOPsX and just reskin the cabs? Just seems like an awful lot of money to spend to have a single game. Exceptions would be racers and Star Wars where the controls are not easy to replicate on an ALU. I’m honestly asking because I’m just getting into the hobby and trying to justify the Arcade 1UP cabinets in my own mind. And wallet.
I would of had to get rid of either my Simpsons cab or my Golden Axe cab to fit Blitz in my game room. I rather stick with what I have. Bad marquee and horrible vinyl (side images) ruin this $600 cab for me.
The speed of the gameplay is probably the biggest issue. If the gameplay is sped up too much then you will break the gameplay loop. It will be too easy to score and if you are playing an expert then they will stop you on defense by spamming suicide blitz and it will be a bad experience. It seems it probably won’t affect most casual players. The 2001/special edition port of blitz on n64 had this issue and the fans to this day stick with blitz 2000. Also there unfortunately is a big controversy/scandal with Favre stealing welfare funding for the construction of a volleyball stadium in MS. And he is on the side art displayed prominently. Not a good look and bad timing for this unfortunately.

I've not listened yet, but will see if some of my "five" match yours. I can not come up with five reasons to buy it, but can with "not" buying it. Laptop size display (really stands out with the wider control deck), incredulously grainy artwork, neutered version of Blitz, too cramp for comfortable four player, and ironic to that, takes up more space than other 3/4 cabs.
Ordered mine supposed to ship sometime in October. I'm highly upset about it not having late hits. Do you guys think they'll ever do updates on these? I'm new to these home cabinets. This is my second one. I also have NBA Jam and was mad about not having Jordan on there but its still fun to play

I think the improved frame rate helps an older sports game feel more modern, wouldn't work on games like pacman frogger etc.

I like 4 player cabinets if I really like the games/cabinet. I try to only buy cabs I really want, and that allows me to keep enough space.

Horrible marquee and 4 player was not needed unless it was a pro cab with viable space …. Once it goes to $399 im in I do like the new artwork minus the grain issue

No way Simpsons arcade has been on sale for $200 and saw xmen for $369 and this will be the same. These cabs drop so fast in price and turtles to $450. I would never buy any of these machines brand new. They drop so fast in 6 months. Big brand NFL expect to see them cheap like Simpsons.

@T Dog and @Consolefanboy since you guys asked here are my thoughts , I only watched a little. There’s only 1 reason to buy this cab, online play, and nobody has even seen that yet. Otherwise you might as well play Blitz Pro. This is a worse version of blitz pro which you can get on multiple consoles. Also everyone has the ps1 REAL version, the Dreamcast, the N64 . If online sucks , you’re not going play this much and if you really want to play with friends, just sit on the couch spread out and enjoy the real Game. You can also play this on Fightcade or a multicab. More bad news coming from this review , bad marquee , bad art , still on a riser with a cheap build, etc. the only selling point is 49 way sticks and we already saw they had calibration issues . $650 for A worse version of Blitz pro that is not even lose to Blitz. It’s very sad that then Illuminati convinced everyone to preorder and didn’t share any of this info that the game is sped up, missing players , missing audio , missing tackles, they never even played it but convinced people to preorder . Sure it’s fun to play , but so is sitting around with friends and playing 4 people on 60 inch tv and the real blitz . And how many times are you going to have people over to play ? Honestly this is nba jam all over again. And at least online play for nba jam is ok . I’m not spending $650 for an arcade that I won’t play much and when I do want to play blitz , I’ll just play the real one in a variety of ways. It’s groundhogs day again , gotta have it like MK30 , like BB , like Tron , like T2 , like KI, like Xmen, like Simpsons, like TMNT …. I’ll pass and spend $650 on something else. I’ll put it towards another pinball . Somehow this will be spun to I’m a hater but if they made this right , and it was the real game , I would have considered buying it.
Thanks for the feedback Rex...I think I covered all your points or many similar points in the video. I have approached this cabinet with the "buyer beware" so consumers who come across it know all the pros and cons of this cab prior to making a purchase. Yes I was disappointed that some of the demo units they sent out content creators only pointed out the positives but in the end I can only control the content I release.

Arcade1Up first came out, I owed a few, it was cool and thought my Guests would enjoy it when I had parties 🎈 it was barely played, to small, many complaints, and my guests rather played corn hole 🕳️ it was then I sold it all and never looked back. Don’t get me wrong it’s looks cool just take up spaces and never used.

That's an interesting take. The last thing I thought about was how friends would react. I just got the games I loved as a kid for my own selfish experience ☺️ my friends still play it from time to time, but these aren't designed for heavy play, so what it gets is perfect. I own a corn hole game too and need to get my boards out of storage. Just got some new bags so it's on!😁

@@PDubsArcadeLoft I get that. But why not just buy a bunch of ALUs+CoinOPsX and just reskin the cabs? Just seems like an awful lot of money to spend to have a single game. Exceptions would be racers and Star Wars where the controls are not easy to replicate on an ALU. I’m honestly asking because I’m just getting into the hobby and trying to justify the Arcade 1UP cabinets in my own mind. And wallet.

I would of had to get rid of either my Simpsons cab or my Golden Axe cab to fit Blitz in my game room. I rather stick with what I have. Bad marquee and horrible vinyl (side images) ruin this $600 cab for me.
The speed of the gameplay is probably the biggest issue. If the gameplay is sped up too much then you will break the gameplay loop. It will be too easy to score and if you are playing an expert then they will stop you on defense by spamming suicide blitz and it will be a bad experience. It seems it probably won’t affect most casual players. The 2001/special edition port of blitz on n64 had this issue and the fans to this day stick with blitz 2000. Also there unfortunately is a big controversy/scandal with Favre stealing welfare funding for the construction of a volleyball stadium in MS. And he is on the side art displayed prominently. Not a good look and bad timing for this unfortunately.

I've not listened yet, but will see if some of my "five" match yours. I can not come up with five reasons to buy it, but can with "not" buying it. Laptop size display (really stands out with the wider control deck), incredulously grainy artwork, neutered version of Blitz, too cramp for comfortable four player, and ironic to that, takes up more space than other 3/4 cabs.
We might be on the same page for several of these items
