      Convenience stores nearby freight truck stops and shipping hubs here in the United States will generally have showers you can pay a few dollars to use. Generally over the road workers use them. These types of things do exist around the world too especially in areas where workers travel hundreds or thousands of kilometers on their work routes.

    Big truck stops in the US have showers and laundromats for long haul truckers. If they drive cross country and have a sleeper cab on their truck they have to shower and stuff somewhere. They're usually along main highways/interstates.

    I think the end of that episode is fantastic despite being sad for howard is shows why i love lalo as a villian and also is great from a writing perspective as throughout the show jimmy and kim have been inbetween legality and criminality doing which ever one works out best for them and having the most legal character(howard) and the most criminal character(lalo) come in contact and howard dying that consequence shows that jimmy and kim cant keep just doing whatever they want and expecting everything to go their way. Howards death could also be like a metaphor for jimmys legality and criminality as from this point forward in breaking bad hes more criminal than legal.

    One of the greatest episodes I've ever seen. Period.
    This episode has similarities: The soda can turning, just like the gun silencer. The camera going closer to Lalo after the shot and saying "Let's talk", just like the camera shot when Walt ran over the 2 gangbangers to save Jesse and saying "RUN".

    Howard didn't do anything to anyone. He was merely loyal to his best friend, and only to the extent permitted by law. If Chuck went too far, Howard would try to correct him. Howard doesn't deserve all that was done to him by Kim and Jimmy. His death is arguably the most senseless in the entire BCS and BB universe. And it gets even worse for him after his death. I've never seen anything so undignified. I found absolutely nothing funny about it here.
    Here is an absolutely innocent person who has been vilified and killed in the worst possible way, and anyone who hoped that Howard would have any kind of life after this prank should examine his moral code. Nothing should have happened to him. There are two bullies who attack an innocent man and instead of hoping for the victim, the perpetrators are celebrated. The series does a great job of showing how bigoted and morally bankrupt we viewers all are. Especially those who like to stand on the moral high horse. In the end, it always depends on which person we like more and morale becomes very flexible. It only takes a guy who is a little stiffer than the rest, who has a best friend who goes a little too far, and he is ostracized by society.

    • @ludwigmises
      @ludwigmises 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think you’re correct about Howard. He actually admitted his shortcomings and tried to do right by Jimmy: when he offered Jimmy a job, he told him that he wished he’d shown more backbone in dealing with Chuck regarding Jimmy.
      Howard could, at times, come across as aloof, but that’s not a crime, it’s not unethical, it’s not even objectively wrong; it’s simply an unpopular attribute.

    I’m just catching up on your reactions and had a thought to share, since I know you’ve finished the series at this point.
    I know they dive into Kim’s motivations more later, but in addition to things she says, I think the flashbacks setup perfectly how someone like herself falls in with someone like Jimmy. The childhood yearning for love/approval from her mom, and getting it by helping her scam, it set the foundation for Kim to easily fall into this pattern of codependency with Jimmy.
    Sorry if you guys mention it in later videos. Love your stuff!

    The soda trick does work irl, when I show people I literally place the soda on my phone to show how much I trust the method. Only time it didn't work for me was with a bottle but I think I didn't spin in enough or the grooves of the bottle messed it up, but with a normal can you could shake it for 30 seconds and then spin it on a flat surface for like 10 seconds then BAM you'll have a totally normal soda to drink.

    Howard was an infinitely better person than either Jimmy or Kim, both of whom are frankly evil people in later seasons that only look good in comparison to the real criminals they are surrounded by, and the fact that they are the main characters of the show. Not only did they set out to ruin Howard but they were the reason he was killed. The show does a great job (as does Breaking Bad) at making you sympathise and root for the protagonists despite their wrongdoings; the climax of this episode only serves to show the truth of how despicable their schemes were, however entertaining they were to watch.
