    I watched your video and I was puzzled just a little bit growing up in the South here in Tampa Florida and crabbing all my life since I'm 70 now I have yet to see anyone in the south from brussel sprouts and tomatoes and what you call a crab bowl which is that what you did with steam a crab boil is when the crab is completely submerged in the water. I've never seen one use onion powder on a steamer but it look like it might be pretty good anyway enjoyed your video I wish I had a boat back cuz I'll be out crabbing myself anyway from the Old Man in Tampa Florida may God bless

      We have a habit of not doing things the traditional way we combine different ways of cooking we learned from areas of the country we've visited, the brussel sprout idea came from a crawfish boil we were at in Biloxi Mississippi, Joyce will sometimes try something different like the onion powder (those crabs were very good). We are both 75 but sometimes we don't know it lol maybe that's why we do a lot of non traditional things. Thanks a lot for Watching we really appreciate it

      Well I don't know where you at in Biloxi but I've been worked in Mississippi for nearly 7 years I'll have been 10 years I work there moving oil rigs it may crawfish boils as I've been invited to and gone to and they always use the same thing I always have new potatoes corn and occasionally they with the button mushrooms in there if I never went to one that had brussel sprouts but that's okay if y'all enjoy it more power to you me myself I'm not a fan of Brussel sprouts never have I never get past the smell but yes I'll travel all over the United States I've been 40 of the 50 states I used to move all Rings all over the country so yes I've tasty Cuisine from all parts of the United States especially if they had oil rigs there but God bless you keep up what you doing here shortly I hope to be moving out of state of Florida me and my oldest son are looking for land in Tennessee like I said I'm a native of Tampa Florida I was gone for nearly 30 years I come back and I cannot handle the heat but God bless you all keep up the videos and I'll be watching have y'all tried crabs yet with spaghetti sauce

      We steam and boil them when we have a lot of crabs we steam them that way you can get more in the pot without boiling over when we don't have a lot we boil them but to me they taste good both ways. The same with cleaning them first, sometimes we do and other times we cook them whole but less messy when you clean them first. Thanks a lot for Watching

    Why don`t you have a Basket to dump the Crab in. Guessing it`s probably the same reason you don`t carry 10 Traps is because of space. Mrs. Joyce pulls them Traps good I bet if she got into Arm Wrestling she would do good. Enjoyed it

      You can get the traps at 3 Kings Crab Traps at Salt Springs. I think Stanford might be too far south (the furthest we've caught them was in Lake George) we crab more north towards Palatka. You would probably do better your way, just outside of the Intercoastal Waterway, also you'll be able to catch stone Crabs when they're in season. Thanks a lot for Watching

      Maryland style steaming permits dipping an occasional morsel of the crab meat into apple cider vinegar then touching the encrusted top shell's seasoning for a blend of sweet/spicy flavors.

      You’ve ruined those crabs doing them that way. Leave them alone and steam them the Maryland way with seasoning on top. All you’ve done “cleaning” them that way is take all the flavor out of them.

    • @TheOldCoupleOutdoors
      @TheOldCoupleOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We cook them all different ways, boiled, steamed whole or cleaned, when I'm going to pick them for crab cakes, them I like to clean them first. We first started cleaning them when we lived in New Jersey the area we lived in, the bay was so polluted the state recommend cleaning them before cooking them that was bask in the 60's it's all cleaned up now. We don't use a lot of seasoning we just like tasting the crab. Thanks a lot for Watching we Really Appreciate it.
