I grew up in Brisbane and, like many of my friends, couldn't wait to leave. 'Boring Brisbane' was its usual nickname in those days. Some friends returned, many didn't. Though I admit it has improved somewhat since then, I still wouldn't visit it at all if I didn't have family there. I did leave at 21 and have lived in diverse places, including London and Melbourne, and only once returned to live whilst I was at university. Other family members have also since moved away, including my parents upon retirement, with only one sibling's family now remaining there. Of course, many people love Brissie and will not relate to my reasons for leaving but, for a start, I find it definitely too hot and humid for half the year. Despite now being a larger city, it still lacks sophistication and a wide range of cultural choices. The arts community does its best but offerings are limited and most international acts and shows do not go to Brisbane. Traffic is appalling, with endless roadworks as the Council never quite catches up with the increasing population. Shopping is also limited mostly to chain stores, as it doesn't yet have the population to support a lot of private retailers. For most Brisbanites, the casual dress code is part of its appeal but I enjoy the chance to dress up at times. Most restaurants will still accept diners wearing only shorts and t-shirts. After years away, I have finally returned to Queensland but NOT Brisbane! Being no longer interested in city life, I am now up the coast a bit, so can drive easily to see family. Summer months are still too hot but I find them more bearable nearer the beach with the sea breezes.
I loved Brisbane as I loved my homeland , I had my best time in my life when I was doing my degree at QUT. I disagree with the girl that said people are rude. I’ve been living here for over thirty years and people are so friendly. I’ve lived in Melbourne and Sydney and they are less friendly (especially Sydney) plus the weather (minus the humidity) is great!
Born and raised in the bush and Brissie is my favourite capital city by far. Use public transport to avoid traffic congestion on the roads, especially during peak times. Base yourself in Brisbane and you’re an hour from the gold and sunny coasts, 30 mins to Ipswich and 90 mins to Toowoomba.
A friend of mine lived there for two years and loved it apart from it being in the wrong time zone. She hated the fact that barely an hour after getting home from work it was dark year round and really missed the light evenings of a European spring and summer.
I'm probably going to sound like one of those rude people the lady mentioned but like overlooking Brisbane is what is keeping this city the great way it is now. Tourism helps for sure, but put a city out on the map and eventually growth will bring with it standard city problems, like the bloke was mentioning about. If the people want Brisbane to be at the level of Sydney and Melbourne, they must be ready for the downsides that come with it too. Also public transport for the most part is pretty decent. People just need to take it.
I live in Brisbane but I think the best cities for a tourist to go to are Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. I’m not saying Melbourne and Sydney are bad but the last time I went to Melbourne it was really dirty and packed but at least you can go to the MCG, and Sydney is quite polluted. I went on a 100 km bike ride in Brisbane and I rarely went on a road that’s how good it is. And I wouldn’t really recommend Canberra unless you want to visit places like The Parliament House, Questacon, the war memorial or the mint, I wouldn’t really recommend it. I’m not sure about Darwin or Hobart you can go there if you want. But yeah brisbane is my favourite City yet.

I was thinking about moving Australia for a while now then I saw some videos about Brisbane and I feel it’s the place where I should live but first I need to see if I am right. live in London and a bit fed up with the growing crime and house prices.
Oh wow, big decision! If you’ve never been here, you should definitely do a bit of a tour to see where you like best (Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast are my suggestions)
@@WelcomeTo Thanks. I am planning to visit Sidney, Brisbane and Gold coast. I will stay there for about two weeks. I might have time for more. We'll see but coming for a visit next year for sure. thanks
Weirdly the back-to-back comments about public transport are both kinda right, there's a lot of public transport options around brisbane (ferry, train, tram, buses, scooters) but they're not very clearly signed, or well scheduled or super reliable. The infrastructure is there, it's just not run that great. wouldn't matter if you were on holiday and not on a tight schedule though.
I reckon the trains are good here buses not so much and we're not rude, I find people in Sydney are ruder, I think we're a more relaxed easy going city. You know we have it pretty good in Brisbane, best part about this city is the weather we hardly get winter :).
Trains every 30 minutes is not good lmao. Not to mention they're late or cancelled every day (despite barely any services on the timetable), and cost 47 kidneys to use. Public transport up here sucks absolute dogsh*t.
0:48 So much to do in Brisbane? Has she really been here 3 years? I like Brisbane and have lived here most of my life. Compared to other cities like Sydney and Melbourne, Brisbane is dull. Having said that, that's how I like it here 👍 relaxing lifestyle
Brisbane isn't dull. But it's certainly more relaxed than Melbourne, and a hell of a lot more relaxed than Sydney. But if you really love nightlife and a year long calendar of cultural and sporting events then Melbourne's the place to be (if you can cope with the weather). But I love the vibe in Brisbane, always feel like I'm on holidays when I visit Brisbane. As for Sydney, outside of the harbour (which is stunning), it's just the worst of Melbourne and Brisbane all combined in one place.
Great medium size city . I my book the most liveable and prettiest in Australia. Leave Sydney out. Lived in Sydney best suburbs for 25 years. Melbourne great. More nature around Brisbane than any other Australian city as that guy pointed out. I don't live in Brisbane.
Brisbane is awesome... super laid back. Lived here 4 years now.., from Melbourne (which is great in a different way) It’s like a country town meets a city
Brisbane ,gold coast and sunshine coast is the best part of Australia by far Sydney is like London and I left that hole and Melbourne ia awful with hardly any Australians left there canberra is boring as batshit and freezing while Perth and Adelaide is totally sterile
@@westnblu That's a bit harsh, sure we've suffered a lot more from covid than any other Australian city, but even then I think that's a bit of a ridiculous comparison, if any Australian city is heading the way of Detroit it's Adelaide, but even that's being really harsh on Adelaide.
Awesome sauce! I won’t be in Brisbane for the next two weeks, but I would recommend you “request to join” a bunch of Brisbane community Facebook and backpackers groups now. Then if you’re looking for New Years events you’ll be able to find plenty of people doing fun stuff! :)

Melbourne for me, is the best city in Australia. The weather, quality of life, the culture scene & even the people are very classy. Even the houses there seem to be more upscale. But the living cost is too damn expensive! Just to give everyone an idea, it’s even more expensive than the UK!!! But Australia overall is more expensive than the US & Canada. Brisbane, is a 2nd choice for me. It has the right balance of city life & nature. But it’s very humid during the summer. You really sweat a lot even more than being in the desert! Sydney, on the other hand, is really vibrant & exciting, but more of a tourist spot rather than a place to actually live in. Nowadays, Sydney is actually becoming another extension of China. I won’t be surprised if one day, China would claim it as another one of their territories. LOL..
Access to real food McDonald???? holly molly.....what kind of diet is that? There are plenty of good restaurants in Brisbane and all this guy can think of is McDonald. That's sick!!!
Haha that’s kinda my fault for portraying it that way! He was saying that he lived in a small town with only one McDonalds, so being in a town like Brisbane he now has access to lots of good restaurants. So I made a joke that there were three McDonalds on this street alone! 😂
that,s right Brisbane is good city to leave but according to me it is worst place by the local people there as i was there for 4 to 5 years, and what i found selfless people mean at all, no help from no one there, whatever i found just by my hard work there, no body supported at all , this is what i thought and found explained,

I'm sorry I have to laugh. Public transport isn't as well organised as it is in Sydney, the trains in Brisbane don't run that frequently, maybe every 20 minutes or so, even on a weekend. And there are so many suburbs in Brisbane that don't have enough trees!!! You will sweat your ass off if you're walking around looking for a bus stop in the suburbs.
It’s a boring place with no class or style where everything closes at 6 pm, where fashion dies and where people think of things like laundry as luxury. Everything is luxury! The food is good but the restaurants are like from the 80s
How long ago were you in Brisbane? It's changed a fair bit in the last 10 years. Sure people may not be as fashionable as they are in Melbourne or Sydney but that's probably a result if Brisbane being hotter and more relaxed, and as a result people are friendlier (especially compared to Sydney). Yes some shops still close a little early but it's much better than it was even just a few years ago.
@@Jordan-288 I live in Brisbane now. Seriously, with fresh and nice quality ingredients available to you, why are the restaurants so bad?! What they call “fine dining” here, in other counties would be called street food or cafe at best. No ambiance, no interior design, no style. But the people are really nice and friendly, that’s true
@@Кася-ь3л I mean look I'm from Melbourne but I've spent a reasonable amount of time in Brisbane throughout the years, and I always love it it there. If any city in Australia in notorious for its food scene, it's Melbourne. And sure Brisbane is nowhere near that level, but I never struggled to find decent places to eat when I'm visiting. That being said I'm not into really fine dining, I think that's something you're more likely to find in Sydney (although there are plenty of high-end restaurants in Melbourne too). That being said, it'll cost you an arm and a leg. If it's a really big deal for you, you could move to somewhere with a better fine dining scene. My only criticism of dining in Queensland is your unnatural obsession with The Coffee Club. Heads up Queenslander's! The Coffee Club is both expensive and rubbish in my opinion.
I am an accountant and in New South Wales my occupation is on the demand list so I might get a 190 state sponsored visa which allows me to work in New South Wales. We'll see but coming for a visit next year for sure. thanks
Sunshine Coast one hour north of Brisbane lower crimes than Melbourne the more
Weirdly the back-to-back comments about public transport are both kinda right, there's a lot of public transport options around brisbane (ferry, train, tram, buses, scooters) but they're not very clearly signed, or well scheduled or super reliable. The infrastructure is there, it's just not run that great. wouldn't matter if you were on holiday and not on a tight schedule though.
I can agree with more welcoming. When I was there I liked everything except traffic
Tourism Australia will be putting this on TV in no time, you'll be the next Lara Bingle m8!
Lara Bingle got nothing on me... I do the interviews AND operate the camera ;)
find me posted on the southern outskirts of Brisbane in my hometown of Woodridge aka the hood.
I reckon the trains are good here buses not so much and we're not rude, I find people in Sydney are ruder, I think we're a more relaxed easy going city. You know we have it pretty good in Brisbane, best part about this city is the weather we hardly get winter :).
Sydney the big one
Trains every 30 minutes is not good lmao. Not to mention they're late or cancelled every day (despite barely any services on the timetable), and cost 47 kidneys to use. Public transport up here sucks absolute dogsh*t.
Man I wish I could visit Brisbane one day.
There's a FREE FERRY in Brisbane!

Brisbane, got great memories there.
0:48 So much to do in Brisbane? Has she really been here 3 years? I like Brisbane and have lived here most of my life. Compared to other cities like Sydney and Melbourne, Brisbane is dull. Having said that, that's how I like it here 👍 relaxing lifestyle
Kristof Alexy Jesus Christ dude just chill
Brisbane isn't dull. But it's certainly more relaxed than Melbourne, and a hell of a lot more relaxed than Sydney. But if you really love nightlife and a year long calendar of cultural and sporting events then Melbourne's the place to be (if you can cope with the weather). But I love the vibe in Brisbane, always feel like I'm on holidays when I visit Brisbane. As for Sydney, outside of the harbour (which is stunning), it's just the worst of Melbourne and Brisbane all combined in one place.
I want to live there and work there
Woo! 😁
I love the video! I live near Brisbane myself. Just wondering what mic do you use?
Such a good quality video
Great medium size city . I my book the most liveable and prettiest in Australia. Leave Sydney out. Lived in Sydney best suburbs for 25 years. Melbourne great. More nature around Brisbane than any other Australian city as that guy pointed out. I don't live in Brisbane.
I wish i could go to Brisbane but i am a couple thousand dollars short to be exact $2,820 short
Well at least you can experience Brisbane for free through my videos!

Brisbane is awesome... super laid back. Lived here 4 years now.., from Melbourne (which is great in a different way)
It’s like a country town meets a city
Brisbane is cool and all but I prefer Melbourne.
I can't wait to go back whenever this damn Covid shit dies down.
Anyone knows the music in the background?
Brisbane ,gold coast and sunshine coast is the best part of Australia by far Sydney is like London and I left that hole and Melbourne ia awful with hardly any Australians left there canberra is boring as batshit and freezing while Perth and Adelaide is totally sterile
Brisbane is love
“Brisbane’s better than Sydney, but not as good as Melbourne.”
The truest thing I’ve heard today.
Have u been to Melbourne lately? From my humble observations its heading the way of Detroit.
@@westnblu I'm from Melbourne but i can somewhat see what you mean.
@@westnblu I moved down to Melbourne 2yrs ago and can confirm this to be true.. glad I moved back to Brisbane last year
@@westnblu That's a bit harsh, sure we've suffered a lot more from covid than any other Australian city, but even then I think that's a bit of a ridiculous comparison, if any Australian city is heading the way of Detroit it's Adelaide, but even that's being really harsh on Adelaide.
I'm coming! in... 4 days! Still haven't planned my trip though. Haha
Awesome sauce! I won’t be in Brisbane for the next two weeks, but I would recommend you “request to join” a bunch of Brisbane community Facebook and backpackers groups now. Then if you’re looking for New Years events you’ll be able to find plenty of people doing fun stuff! :)

Do you think it’s worth going to? (For tourists)
@@WelcomeTo hey mate I live in Brisbane. It is an awesome city to live in. Beautiful weather and awesome city. CBD is not as big as melbourne or Sydney, but there are lots of things to do for just an hour drive from any part of the Brisbane. Sunshine coast is an hour drive up north with awesome hinterland, scenic drives and beaches as well as Steve Irwin Australia zoo which is amazing.
Brisbane doesn’t get a enough credit and it’s the best city in Australia
Australia is a big place
As big as America, almost identical in size, just 1/3rd its land mass is hostile unlovable conditions, excessively hot and nature will kill you the first chance it gets lol
@@traviolisupreme Well that's right almost identical in size but America also has death valley where dangerous critters live most notably rattlesnakes.
I wish I could go to Brisbane but It's too expensive for me. Lol. It's just one of those can only do it once per life time.
Brisbane is pretty exciting, but definitely go to Vegas first! And then Paris. And then Hawaii. And then Brisbane!
Brisbane is cheaper than Melbourne the cost of living. No need to use heater in winter if u want to but summer expensive air conditioner and fan... hot and humidity
@@jasonwright9405 I would rather jump in the lagoons or in the beach to beat the heat. I would prefer warm climate over shitty weather of London or NY.
brisbane may be clean but holy f*ck the roads are so broken and shit
To me Brisbane is a pretty much laid back version of Sydney, but Melbourne is better overall.
Melbourne is heading the way of Detroit FAST!!
Though at the Goldcoast and the Sunshine Coast ,the bouncers at nightclubs are absolutely shit .. you’re been thrown out for drinking , if they think your are to drunk without hurting anybody or annoying any one .. other then that , yes Brisbane area is a wonderful place .. been there heaps of times ..

@@Prince077Aussie Agreed, but shhhhh!
LOL..
Brisbane>Melbourne
fite me irl
Brisbane is the best
Lol 😂 uve got to be kidding me. Small city. Melb is BIG and a plenty of things to do

hmm need to think
Access to real food McDonald???? holly molly.....what kind of diet is that? There are plenty of good restaurants in Brisbane and all this guy can think of is McDonald. That's sick!!!
Haha that’s kinda my fault for portraying it that way! He was saying that he lived in a small town with only one McDonalds, so being in a town like Brisbane he now has access to lots of good restaurants. So I made a joke that there were three McDonalds on this street alone! 😂
spoiled now but australia's cities actually look like united states cities as craZy
I've been all over the world and Brisbane is the best place ever sans the homeless.
Cap the best part about brisbane is the airport
On the way out..
Melbourne's like a bigger, better version of BrisVegas. Brisbane tries to compete with Sydney and Melbourne, lol.
Not really, no. Don't get me wrong, I love both Melbourne and Brisbane, but they are very different cities.
that,s right Brisbane is good city to leave but according to me it is worst place by the local people there as i was there for 4 to 5 years, and what i found selfless people mean at all, no help from no one there, whatever i found just by my hard work there, no body supported at all ,
this is what i thought and found explained,
is that Australia or California?????

Come on Brissy is way better than Melbourne

Public transport on Brisbane is so good u just need to learn how to use it
I'm sorry I have to laugh.
Brisbane is the " Go"
It’s a boring place with no class or style where everything closes at 6 pm, where fashion dies and where people think of things like laundry as luxury.
Yet in so many Brisbane suburbs and even regional Queensland towns, it's the only option!
Don't come here in summer ,come here in winter ,spring or late late summer ......DO NOT come here in December -februrary it's a humid ,putrid swamphole full of mosquitoes and the tropical heat and humidity is mind alteringly bad
Agreed. Spring is the best and imagine Victoria summer in Qld (sept to early dec)

Are there any racial problems in Brisbane?
Stop Go
What are those?
Short answer: no!
Justification: where I go to school, I’d say half the kids are people of colour or descendants of which. People who are racist are always slammed over here, and that never happens because I’ve never really seen any racial disputes around. Every monument or site has a sign outside recognising the indigenous population, and nobody side eyes anyone. Culture here is a woo hoo as well. You should come, best city on earth from where I’ve been.
no
Yes
It's a beautiful city ,just needs a little bit more. How's fortitude valley bring back all the good old niteclubs, Roxy, terminus, Tony,s tit club downunder, images, cockertoo bar or beat, transformers.and the great dj,s, bring it on with the true music. Not techno wat shit.
