So, wow i really really love his you tell about the area, talk about the rock your looking for, this is by far the best rockhounding video I've seen. It is also very well dormatted. Thank you for your time and sharing you knowledge
The spoil piles you were hunting are heavily picked over but sometimes you'll still find something cool. Those little round gray chert balls are fun and a good indicator you're near agate, i always take home a couple for tumbler filler. I find nice naturally exposed pieces on the surface just wandering the hillsides but usually have to cover a lot of ground. The brachiopods are neato --- realizing you're in a seabed at nearly a mile elevation :) Thanks for sharing your finds.
When it comes to agate, red and white together are one of the best color pairs to find. Cool stuff!

Awesome video you guys! Is there fossils in that area? We found a fossils spot and the surrounding area had a similar host rock and crystaling.
Yes! I found a few brachiopod shell fossils in the limestone, I imagine there are probably other marine fossils in that rock formation as well.

I’ve been out there several times and each time I came equip better than before. If you want the good stuff...,, look for nodules and slice them up at home. Don’t use a rock hammer to bust them open. A fragment could fly off and hit you anywhere on your body or take an eye out. My last outing I humped in a 3/4” cordless hammer drill and 5 batteries. I came home with 34 nodules and 30 of them had patterns. What you picked up is garbage...... I hate to tell you that, but it is. My first time I thought that I hit the jackpot with all this throw aways. About the only thing that stuff is good for is making arrowheads. Good luck next time.
I appreciate the tips, it was our first time there so we weren't sure what to expect. Plus having a car loaded with camping supplies didn't allow us a lot of space for extras. Butnect time I'll definitely take your advice. Thank you!

@@S1lly_Kj …..and you using an angle grinder as a trim saw…… real smart. Never had any problems with what I used as for mining the rock out of there. You can’t use heavy equipment there. And cordless hand tools were allowed.
