    I started watching your new video today, 8/24/19, and it’s a follow up on this video so I’m watching this first! Btw, you said it was episode 22 but it’s actually this is episode, 21.
    Awesome intro music!!! Bekah, your camera work is exceptional!! I love your attention to every detail and how you stop just long enough to get a good look. This house was a wreck. I love the front porch. The cartoon drawings upstairs are really good! I just get a strange vibe from this house though. Kinda creepy. Excellent video! Y’all stay safe out there! 😉🏚

      Why do people people leave so much of their life behind? Do you ever investigate? Looked like you might have missed a photo album filled with history in that trashed home. Why do some get pleasure completely tearing things up?

    The brick print wallpaper is from the 80's and was just meant for fun to decorate for Christmas who wanted to play up the chimney effect. I think anyway. I was just a kid when we had it, and that's how we used it. I could be wrong though because I would NEVER have expected it to hold up that long, but like they say...they don't make 'em like they use to! :) Great find.

      I remember the red brick paper sold as a kit to make a "pretend" fireplace at Christmas. At least back in the 50's and 60's you could get it at G.C. Murphy's. :)

    Rick and Bekah, don't change the way you do your thing.... I don't care for the toilet shot either, but I always put my hands up so I don't see it, and you forewarn in plenty of time to cover it, so you don't see it!! I also love the sounds you make when you find creepy dolls and other things, don't change a thing. Nice video!! You guys are really getting savy with the old things, and guessing how old it is.... Keep up the good work! I've made a day of it today watching all your video's and I'm not done yet! Peace, and love!!

    Many times the immediate feeling you get from an abandoned house is the result of the energy the home is putting out caused by the negative or positive experiences people had in those homes over the years. If you don't understand my comments it's probably because my sleeping pill is kicking in and I started babbling, but if you do understand, I stand by my statements. Great video. 😴

  • @rainingmoon7
    @rainingmoon7 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    It reminds me of a salvage house, where the people would salvage from other places that were being torn down. It creates a house out of mixed eras of styles.

  • @75watts52
    @75watts52 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    People are so funny. Just because a house is abandoned and in bad shape doesn’t necessarily mean the residents had “sad” times while living there. I have explored “abandoned “houses where I knew the occupants and they had very good times, barbecuing, laughter, children catching fireflies, the smell of dry beans in a crock pot. Yummm there’s nothing like growing up in the South. ❤️

  • @greyeaglem
    @greyeaglem 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    It's hard to tell when this house was built. Normally you can tell by the architectual style and things like windows and trim, but this house doesn't have a clear style. It has elements of Italiente, craftsman, salt box and Queen Anne. The windows are from all different eras too, which seems to be a common thing in the South. Based on the lock plate you showed the close-up of, plus some of the trim, I would guess it was built in the late 1800s. The pillars on the porch where you went in a typical of the craftsman era, but that could have been added later. Or the house was built between the Queen Anne and craftsman eras, which would put it between 1890 and 1910. The house wasn't very well constructed and was likely built by the owners themselves using plans drawn by themselves or someone that knew a little about architecture but was not a pro.

    I'm going to fast forward from now on whenever you get near a bathroom...is't disgusting and you just keep the camera on it for awhile. Also that noise when you find certain things is....annoying. I'm sorry...just saying. Otherwise, interesting video, as usual.

    From some of the old mining towns in Nevada where I saw very similar doorknob and key plates I would guess 1870's for that house.
    Very morose and hard to imagine any happy conclusion of residence at that sad location.

    Thanks for the entertainment Bekah and Rick. Its the best videos, i've seen in my whole entire life. I just love everything you find. Especially the house from the old lady back in 1971 with her pictures upstairs and the Skippy peanut butter jar. The old Sears magazine were spooky too! It was really bone chilling. Rick, make sure to be real careful when you're walking on those beams in the attic. It's dangerous! About the house in #68, i don't really think it's a genuine Ritz Crackers box from the sixties. Back then, the Ritz crackers were manufactured by Christie's Company and they were bought out by Nabisco brand in the 90's. Thanks for everything. Take care guys. John from Montreal.

I've just started looking recently at some of your videos, but i look forward to seeing each and everyone of them. Much better than all the sci-fi crap and all that daytime soap dramas i've seen so far. I haven't watched television in 10 years, but i love TH-cam better. I'm pretty sure that there's alot of houses up here around Montréal, Canada too. Keep up the good work and watch out for the joists and the beams up in the attics. Take care, Rick. I'm on Facebook.

    That round brown dining table looks just like the one my grandmother had in the late 1950's to early 1960's. Hers had a middle leaf in it. It also had a matching hutch, ( China cabinet without doors with a two door cabinet on the bottom ). it kind of looked similar to the one on the Andy Griffith show but it didn't have a edge to keep things from falling off the shelves. I ended up getting it when during my marriage in about 1984. I ended up having to trade it for part of my rent in 2001. it still had 3 matching chairs. My husband and I had split up. He didn't pay any child support. I had 5 kids to see about. I had surgery and could not work for 3 months. So, although it broke my heart, I had to trade the set and some other things so I could house my kids.

    Love this video too, when I lived in Florida, I got into some old campers that were repossessed and being sold as is.. they were in horrid condition.. I'd pick up coins I found... I would do that in abandoned houses but I never found coins... I did learn a lot about the brick house in my home town, after the woman died, her son took everything of value and left stuff behind.. books mostly.. I couldn't let that stuff rot away, I took some things out of there, I know it was stealing but it was just going to waste.. Other than the books I found something really nice thrown outside the house, a frozen food knife.. guess it was in the kitchen area, looked brand new still it was still shiny and sharp... it was like a saw blade. Mostly with that house I took photos, I stayed on the first floor because the second floor creeped me out... for one I walked up the second set of stairs and there were cracks in the walls so I could see outside... there were dressers and stuff like that.. some leaning against the wall.. now they've been pushed into the basement along with old records,boxes.. books... they pushed the old furniture into the hallway and into the basement... I didn't see any spray paint.. possibly because the people who do come here don't really know it's here until they walk the dirt road...

    For a second I thought this might be the house where Forrest Gump's friend Jenny lived. Then I remembered that was torn down. I've been considering moving to Alabama recently, probably Southwest Alabama, and there are tons and tons of old 19th century homes for sale there. Most are quite cheap too. Up north they get tend to get torn down.

      Exploring with Rick & Bekah,
      My grandparents used to live in the sticks of Brewton, AL and man was it hot there! Last time I was there was in May of 2001 and I darn near passed out from the heat. That was where I had encountered a abandoned house right down the road in 1970. The house was pretty trashed but was cool to explore. My grandparent's house was pretty interesting too. It was nothing but a homemade, cozy little shack, Little House on the Prairie style, no modern plumbing and the family cemetery right across the street with relatives dated as far back as 1803, which I found to be my great, great, great, great grandma. Some plots were so old they didn't even have dates. It's an old Indian cemetery as a lot of my relatives...including my grandma, were full Cherokee. Right next to the cemetery was the family owned church. The cemetery used to be called, Old Wildfork Indian Cemetery. Today it's called, Pleasant Hill Cemetery. I find old cemeteries and genealogy fascinating as well as old abandoned houses.

    Nice find. seems that they kinda lived in a mess when they were there. doors and floor bawds will creak in a old home. and seeing now one had really been in there the floors and doors are gonna do as they please.

    Not an early 19th century house as that would be in the early 1800's. This house has materials not used back then before the Industrial revolution, such as ornate door and window trim , even if poorly applied, or bead board, which is the basic wall structure under the sheetrock. this house dates to about 1910, with the 3 part window sash and horizontal door panels.
    start with 4 piles. One to donate, one to burn such as the modern furniture that has no market, one for building materials and materials, and one for sellables on the restoration market. Put on a new roof, fix the spongy holes in the floor, call in an electrician and get busy working on it! I saved a house in much worse shape that is not worth over $1.2 m, but it's in a neighborhood everyone wants to go to

    Great explore as always! I really appreciate how you guys go through every part of the houses! Everything is perfect with all your explores! I would say this house is probably anywhere from the late 1800s up to the 1920s. Just a guess. I'm sure there was a room or 2 added later on as in most houses, but the original part looked pretty old.

    I remember when (roughly 2002) when those "Drinking Jars" came out. There was a 1/2 case of them on the floor.
    I seriously think they had a Chimney fire, & that sealed the fate of living there.
    Someone ripped out the Insert, (where you spotted the Coin Magazine) (I have a few very old Coin mags 1960s)
    It appears they somehow snuffed it before it went into the walls, but the family would have been "smoked out" if they tried any fires after.
    They were so poor they resolved to turning junk into furniture, like the TV Cabinet-turned-into-Book-case. & the funky knobs.
    I always wondered why ppl there put their Chesterfields out on the Porch. Must be too hot inside. Either that or they put old Automobile seats out front instead of Lawn furniture.

    I came here after watching your video from yesterday. I think the house was built in the late 1800's judging from the architecture. The Star Trek thirty year anniversary magazines are collectible and that's probably why there was a whole box of them. Someone may have bought them as an investment to sell later on. The cartoon characters on the wall were kind of odd, but someone was quite good.
    Was that a chalk drawing of the car at 35:35? It looked like they used old chalkboards as wall paneling.
    Really cool explore! I really like how you two go slowly so we can see the details.

    The home has a very odd form when you view it from the side, but it looks to me like the house started out as a two story I-house, with 4/4 windows and wider shiplap siding. Looks though the house was later modified during the early 20th century when Arts and Crafts style elements were introduced when the second floor was extended over the front porch to look like a story and a half bungalow, a second layer of narrow clapboard siding was put over the original in places, some of the windows were replaced with Craftsman style 3/1 sashes, and eve brackets added to make the house look like a bungalow.

    FYI....get a good picture of moldings around the doors and windows of these old places. That will give you a clue as to the age. From looking at what I could see and the outside architecture ...it is definitely late 1800's. I enjoy your videos.

    I laugh each time you show the toilets. My wife and I have been watching your videos, (New Subscribers to your channel). It is really kind of slow feeling when Bekah doesn't go with you on these videos. Like the time she didn't wish to walk in the "Wet Grass". Don't blame her, but maybe you need to get your wife some waterproof boots. Perhaps something that may also protect her from stepping on a nail. I know first hand that hurts like ****! Anyway, love the videos, especially when you locate a doll which "Didn't Make It". a highlight of my day. My wife and I always laugh at the sounds you make when you see a doll or a dump in the toilet. Always good for a laugh!
