I am so excited that you think it is a complete success!! It would not be possible to have these improvements without you guys' valuable feedback and suggestions on our products. As always, thank you for doing such a quality review video! Looking forward to your more content about this new mic :)
I purchased one of these bad boys and I'm so glad I did. It produces great sound! I use XLR exclusively . I highly recommend this mic for all levels of experience. BTW, great review and presentation. Your audio was topnotch!
Good move to drop the goofy lights and odd shockmount. They're releasing mics pretty regularly, so it will be very interesting to see how things evolve.
Hi! I'm really curious on what grade are you going to give this mic in the BBSAR considering the fact that the K669D got a score of 9. I'm really torn between the two. Although the K669D is not yet released in my country.
that mic is probably an 8 for me...really good for the money. If you need the usb functionality, go with it...if NOT....the better XLR mic IS the k669D
You should try out the SM7B windscreen on this mic just like you did with the K658, I assume it'd also fit since this mic appears to be the same size. I would also love to see a side-by-side comparison with the k688 and k658 when you get to testing it more. I got the k658 5 months ago after seeing your video and I like it, but I might just pick this up because I hate having to turn off the RGB every time I use it and how odd the shock mount looks. I'm also a little salty that this successor mic is actually listed as cheaper than the k658.
Awesome review like ever, we truly appreciate your hard work, may I ask you between this model and the Fduce SL40 and even the relacart, wich one would you recommend...thanks for your help bro..
Appreciate that! So I will say even though the build quality is good.... The SL40 and Relacart (the best) is substantially better.... BUT...at the price... I think the K688 is the smartest buy. The tone BARELY changes from xlr to usb... And the price is insane. The relacart is probably the most versatile... And would probably be my choice is cost is no factor.... But that comes down to the software the relacart can be used with. This k688 is a fantastic bargain.
Overall sounds pretty good! I feel like I hear some static every now and again I wonder if it's Cuz of the capsule at the end of the grill and the different windscreen texture. Overall it's solid.
Hello, fantastic video! I literally searched k688 & wave xlr to find this video! Great info 🙏 Quick question, what gain were you set to on wave xlr and windows etc? Like & sub for you 💪
dont know if you reply to all comments, but ima throw this question out there in hopes you do have an answer because no one else will. a few months back, i had a simple blue yeti mic, looks beefy, sound was good. now, since its been broken for a while im now able to buy another. which one would be better? the k688 or the blue yeti? because this sounds amazing, and the blue yeti also sounded pretty good.
Definitely depends on your use case... If you are podcasting or recording just spoken word... It's the k688 for me. If you are using a treated space and doing music vocals... I say yeti. But there's cheaper better options than both in my opinion
@@ObscureMics well, luckily the only time i make music is when my buddy wants to help write the lyrics 😅 but I'm mostly on the gaming side. So I'll definitely go for the k688. Its much cheaper than the blue yeti i once had.
I like it. Hated the knob and the shock mount on the original. If they’d kept the lights, I might have grabbed it for Nate (he likes the lights obv). Still sounds pretty good to me.
i just got 2 pcs of this mic. it had no right to sound that good for the price. and i'm kinda lucky cuz one of them had placed its capsule about 1/2 inch away from the grill, making it a bit clearer, less boomy🙂. is this technically a defect, or a happy accident? 😅
Also, thanks for mentioning that the shock mount _IS_ removable. Some reviewers just considered it a con because it's "too complicated" when they didn't even try 😅.
Have you tried using the shure sm7b's (Rk345) windscreen on it and does it fit? Been eyeing this mic but the plosives reduction of it's windscreen kinda sucks
i purchased this this week, got it friday and tried it.. was not a fan and returned it immediately. i was disappointed considering FIFINE USB dynamic mic is really good.
Are there any mics that sound good at ~45/50cm (17.7/19.7 inches) from my mouth that also have shock absorption so keystrokes and mouse clicks/slams don't get picked up? I was interested in this one because of the included shock mount so I can use a desk lamp arm and not have to pay any extra, but apparently everyone on TH-cam is basically at whisper distance from it, which is not feasible for me.
In my experience....trying to use 2 usb mics is a headache.....except on a Mac, i think you can set up a virtual connection and get two working. I don't recommend it.
@@ObscureMics I'm currently using 2 USB Fifine mics (different makes, and register different names with the system) through OBS. If I want to route that mic audio to another program for calling or something you have to either route it through virtual cables or a virtual mixer
Will have no conflict, but if you need to plug 2 mics into one computer, we highly recommend the XLR connection with an audio mixer or interface to send the mixed or separate audio. Otherwise, it's quite tricky to set up two USB mics on a single computer.
@@ObscureMics gotcha. Yeah I'm currently using the mv7 and I was noticing some issues with it last night. Decided to look at some other options and I stumbled across your video. I appreciate the quick response 👍
Seems like they're repackaging the same mic for different demographics. Gaudy RGB Streamers and blacked out "pro" podcasters both get their own version. It'd be cool to A/B compare it with the k658.
The mic looks better and sound good it doesn't have the rgbs and as much as I like it the mic just looked silly and I want some form of professionalism from any mic I use
Would you recommend this over an elgato wave 3? The sound on my wave 3 is amazing but literally picks up sooo much background noise even noise from the outside of the house😅
All the TH-cam channels said buy a 669 so I did and got it today and now allthe TH-cam channels say get a 688. It took me all afternoon to set this one up and finally get some good audio out of it. And I don't even have a boom yet. So this is a hard sell. $80 more for what I'm not sure. Is it going to be an $80 improvement over a 599? The $669 hasn't even paid for itself yet and probably never will at this point. R$120 bucks for mics and a boom is a lot to spend for a channel that has never earned any money and probably never will... :-/
Never listen to people who say you need to buy it.... Always decide for yourself with this stuff. Any microphone is going to give you a more professional sound over a built in mic.
I'm not exactly in the target demographic for these mics but I'm really impressed with how the company responds to feedback.

Had my 658 for months now, and it’s still durable as ever! Very tempted to get this, but would be a waste since 658 is still a really good mic! :

Yeah, I'm surprised they didn't move the capsule more into the body and use the grill as protection, and a spacer to protect against plosives
Hmmmm. Mayne interference... I did not move my phone on this video
Nice review! Just one question, does the RK 345 windscren for Shure SM7B fit on Fifine K688?? Thanks!!

@@ObscureMics What about when using usb on both mics.
Does it have a lot of background noise? Can it be used for acoustic guitar recording? How does he record it? Could you post some examples if possible.
NO, Yes, Streamlabs

The children love lights
when you had this in usb mode, was the microphone plugged straight into the computer or was it plugged into an interpface of a sort?
