    Our flatbed freight is awesome. Love hauling bobcat and Cat loads my favorite things to haul for prime. I don't run west but would go out there if i hauled them. Plus always great exercising lifting tarps and chains

      After 31 years see if your back feels like it's been great,... let the lift drivers boost them as much as possible, and don't jump off trailers... trust me your knees back and feet will thank you later on.

    Great video Steve. Really nice that you chose to focus in on a division, and even spoke a bit about the boot camp. Do you think you might do a video focused on Tankers? Once everything with covid sort of settles I really want to switch from my current company which is one of the big 5. But are no where near as caring and family oriented as Prime is. I look forward to meeting all of you in person soon when I make the switch. Thank you very much.

    Tarping station is worthless, you pissed your money away, there is no room to work in there, thanks for the thought to try and do something for us, however you should have put a little more thought into it. You'd go a long way in driver retention if you'd of built a shed out on the yard or where you drop the empty flat bed trailers. Go in that tarping station and try to remove those yard tarps fold them up and then tarp with the lumber tarps, and you'll see they didn't ask anyone with any flatbed experience what would the best thing to do would be. Whoever sold Robert on putting it in that in bound lane wasted his money. It's too small and too cluttered can not work safely and efficiently, you need to clear that whole lane next to it and have the hoist be able to go over further and be able to center the truck between the lanes, means re doing the doors so can have one centered between the lanes. ...probably be cheaper to just build a shed and do it properly, Duke could definitely use one. So can salt lake . And if Charlotte pipe is still going to insist on tarping some of their loads you should talk them into doing the same, someone is going to get hurt trying to tarp that stuff, maybe killed, have you ever walked on half inch plastic pipe covered in ice or snow trying to spread a lumber tarp in the wind ??? Square pegs in round holes, it's easy from an office to have an idea of to agree to one and say sure we can do that, the unreasonable burden is then put on the driver, and if they object or complain it falls on deaf ears or ears that can't do anything about it or is chalked up to just a driver being difficult and not wanting to do the job and then you lose drivers and wonder why? Ever been to Charlotte pipe in cedar city when the winds blowing your lucky to get your straps across the load, now imagine trying to tarp 13 feet off the ground waking in plastic pipe. I was unfortunate to have one of the tarp loads from Muncy a couple of winters ago, everything was a sheet of ice, close to 4 hours later i was done, and just thankful i had slipped our fallen out there, all for a two stop load going to Syracuse and Buffalo, it was right when they got that real bad snow storm and below freezing temperatures in the whole region, and both stops did what they all do, unloaded it and stacked it outside,.. kinda pointless isn't it not like it won't get filthy sitting in the weather. It's not worth risking serious injury or death if you ask me.

    • @daniels2414
      @daniels2414 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The tarping station in inbound and outbound was a great thought, its just consistently cluttered with tires and rims. I did let someone know on two occasions about it because I couldn’t finish strapping down my tarps until I pulled outside. I feel your pain. I like the crane and the tarping station just cannot move around in there at all due to the clutter. You would think safety would be on that. It’s been a few months since I used it, maybe it’s better now. I hope so

    What the flatbed agility test like at prime

    • @PRIMEINCTRUCKING
      @PRIMEINCTRUCKING  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the question! The flatbed division is the most labor intensive division we have, in terms of the level of physical excursions required. Of all the equipment used to secure freight such as the chains, binders, straps, and tarps… the tarps are certainly the heaviest. We ask that our drivers demonstrate the ability to lift the tarp safely to a mock-up headache rack in a controlled environment.
