- Taken from my stream on Twitch on the 31st December. Le Mans arrives in AMS 2 with new LMDh and GT3 cars. In this one, we take the Porsche 963 and share the driving duties with my AI teammate for 100 minutes of multiclass action.

I hope Reiza adds a feature to allow you to watch the race from the trackside cameras when the AI is driving your car.
They already do but its only for VR
@@LouPatt "only for VR"? I see that as a plus! (VR headset owner) 😈
Need to try that on Le Mans. That track...
I just wish there was an option to save the game while racing...
Gtr 2 has that
I think u gonna like to play GTR2
1:07:01 - Madness Engine is still the prettiest sim racing engine of them all. If only SMS were just slightly mad and not utterly bonkers, they might still exist.
no at all, it looks cartonish compared to rF2, in february with LMU, AMS2 will recieve a stick in the back ;)
@@kolysion164 hmm but that's a colour thing. Yeah, it would look much better with a reshade mods of sorts. But the engine and the effects are pretty decent.
not professional like rF2...it looks cartonish@@mickaelsflow6774
I think a lot of the SMS devs are now with Straight4 and are working on GTRevival while partnering with Reiza to help with the Madness Engine.
the dlc looks so good but i don’t have a pc 💀 fingers crossed maybe ams 2 comes to xbox at some point
Should be _technically_ possible I guess?
@@DavyJonesSimRacing i hope it’s possible cause ive been playing project cars 2 for 5 years and i just want something new 😭
You drive flawlessly mate
This was entertaining to watch....Thank you ! I have a question to ask, those black patches in the road view doesn't bother you ? I won't even go near sunset because of this, only sunrise.
I can't deny they are frustrating, but I've just come to accept them. Given they were (apparently) an issue in the Project CARS games, I assume it's an inherent issue with the Madness engine that they can't fix.
Hey Stephen,
What fuel usage and tire wear settings were you using?
Cheers
Bailey if you also have a TS-PC racer like I do (i think you mentuoned that base here) could you possibly share your FFB setup for this one if you feel you've got it dialled in okay?
If you mean in-game, I'm running this:
Type - Default+
Gain - 65
Low force boost - 0
FX - 25
Damping - 0
Menu spring strength - 0
I've tried this, spent most of the time trying to setup wheel + pedals etc as I haven't tried this game for a long time. And separate hardware is right pain in the a$$ to setup... For those of us who've tried this, when it becomes DLC is Steam sync going to remove the update?
I hope Reiza will add a split start with the LMP’s and GTP’s then the GT3 cars start their race separately
Is this available already now? That AMS2 Steam page for DLC is an absolute nightmare to navigate. At first glance when buying something you feel like you might be buying it 3 times 🤣
[EDIT] ah sorry, you commented later that it's already in the main game to try before becoming DLC
I get you! :D But yes, currently available to all, becoming DLC later.
53:03 This shadow is a Pcars bug that still remains in AMS2... why does this happen? Anybody know?
It's under investigation actually but may take some time - it's a really odd one and there are hints what it could be caused by but too early to say.
On that note: If anybody notices a pattern feel free to give the devs a hint in the forums btw., may help the process to eliminate that issue.
@@Darkeminence i guess the only pattern see is that shadowing takes place in the same spots.
Oh man I wish old rF2 could have AI anyway close to this... With MSG running things and the focus now being the online, which is a good thing and what they should be doing, the AI for offline will never be fixed. I've given up trying Le Mans in rF2 the same as this, AI are completely blind as far as I can see... pun there sort of not intended 😎
rF2 Physics is ages from this to be honest. I bought AMS2 when I saw Le Mans pack but it is just still to much Project Cars instead be more close to rF or AC... Thats why Im still picking iRacing, AC, ACC and rF2
Apparently im crazy for feeling this way but these cars dont behave like what i personally imagine to be a hypercar. at least based on what i see when watching them race and from other games i have played. ams2 physics model doesn't go well with what i think a hypercar is supposed to be. i was able to give the sliding a pass but these cars make it unbearable. I can't wait for LMU to release so i can directly compare the 2. As of now these just feel like DPI reskinned with more HP and less grip
Didn't have any sliding issues myself, but I did see someone mention the rake in some of the cars is completely off at default. Do the standard tweaks to reduce oversteer in whatever situations it's happening, then fix any understeer from there. Also if you were using their low-downforce variants, that may be causing weird issues with entry oversteer.
tires slide and the "slide" feeling is accentuated by a loss of self aligning torque from the tires that occurs prior to peak grip. if you were a telemetry user you would see that although you feel it quite well via AMS2's ffb, and can thus play on the edge of grip, this slide itself peaks at only roughly 5-6%, which is on point for tires of this type. if you don't get on with due to past perception from other sims, that's fine.
@@Burl_Hurlbutt rake is simply a by-product of load and spring stiffness. If the car is neutral at high speed, that's where you start. If you want more rake, you'll need to make the rear softer; less rake, make the rear springs stiffer to still remain neutral and thus more aero efficient at top speed. On top of this, there are optimal ride heights and rake settings for the undertray and diffusor that you'll need to take into account for traction zones in particular. if you want peak traction, you simply have to test and make sure the RH's and rake angle are where you think it should be on acceleration, if you want more rotation and less rear traction, having higher rake may be better.
I still enjoy the cars somewhat, but I do agree. It doesn't feel super accurate or natural. But to be honest, the way you describe the cars being DPI reskins is exactly what they are in real life. Less grip, more power and same design process.
currently my understanding is that the hybrid deploys on throttle (i think Reiza have said they will implement it properly in the future) instead of at 160/190 kph. this makes them very nervous at low speed and if you look at irl footage they seem pretty slidey when pushed th-cam.com/video/zyDJXmwB84A/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=FIAWorldEnduranceChampionship
