Standing at Water's Edge / Indonesia

2022 pushed the limits of my filmmaking. I often used wide drone shots to capture the beauty of different cultures via their locations. I got very comfortable knowing the right techniques and timings to start filming with my drone.
However over time it got a bit too easy, and dare I say- a little boring! So in 2022 I went out to a new country to see if I can still capture the beauty of cultures in a new way. I learned to let go, and start playing again with my filmmaking.
I paid attention to how the culture came to me. Over the next couple months I started focusing on how water had its impact on the daily life and traditions of Indonesian culture. I started getting more familiar with water, flying my drone closer to its ocean waves, filming in the middle of chest-deep rivers, learning to scuba dive 30+ meters deep and practicing the underwater housing.
At first I did not use my drone at all, thinking that wide shots would serve as a crutch for me, but I learned that there's more I could do when combining the drone with a focus on water. In the end, i've learned to use both to my advantage, alongside new skills for deep water diving and using the underwater housing.
