Guys, this has been a dream to create. I love you all. This is such a hard time for everyone, and it comes from the heart; I've had immediate family on ventilators in the face of COVID-19. My Dad is a front-lines doctor. We're gonna show that the Anime community is capable of truly wonderful things for the good of the world. Please consider supporting this project in any ways that you can over the course of the next month
Mason Lieberman I have no idea how you put this together but it is amazing. I ordered the vinyl and can’t wait to listen on repeat.
@@DarkQueenHelba I compose for anime for a living. Most of these people are legitimately just dear friends who I've always wanted to work with, but never had the proper time to. COVID-19 lockdown has disrupted music tremendously, especially on the performance front. In a weird way, this is the only time something like this ever COULD happen. I am so grateful to everyone who said yes, and even more stunned for those who reached out. I must confess, never in my wildest dreams did I think we could have THE queen of anime herself, Yoko Kanno, and the legendary Seatbelts on this. Kanno-san is the consummate professional, and I am filled with so much joy that she chose to support this project in this way. I will always be grateful to her and everyone involved for their incredible generosity towards this crisis that affects us all.
God bless your father for his services. I'll keep him in my prayers.
Hey Mason, Brandon here, congrats on this huge project you pulled off, it was outstanding and I am now convinced to watch Cowboy Bebop
I just bought the digital track on Bandcamp, and also bought the vinyl. And helped advertise on everything I could. Phenomenal project, and talent's coming together for something this incredible. Thank you to everyone that was a part of this phenomenal collaboration. And to those fighting in the medical field.. the heroes & heroines we do not deserve, but totally need right now.

Well, there sorta is a hidden episode: XX: "Mish-Mash Blues."
Me too... damn this makes me want more bebop
I’m with you 100 percent
100% agree.
A couple animes are doing similar things, like Carole and Tuesday
Nah, more Bebop would ruin it. Let the classic rest as it were.
The only bad part about this is you won't ever get to listen to it for the first time again.
samething about watching your name or Bunny Girl Senpai
Man I'm seeing this before i watch the show, idk how I've had it on the back burner for years but now i gotta watch it to understand the background of the later voice lines, granted the song on its own is already amazing but I've heard nothing but praise for this show so... yeah i'll be spending quarantine taking this series in at my own pace.

Look at my eyes, Faye. One of them is a fake because I lost it in an accident. Since then, I’ve been seeing the past in one eye and the present in the other. So, I thought I could only see patches of reality, never the whole picture. I felt like I was watching a dream I could never wake up from. Before I knew it, the dream was over.

It's literally a song about how much Spike loved and missed Julia. :(
YOU WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO SAY THAT!!!
Imagine having an anime so earth shattering and monumental that bands are coming together to play tracks from it 20 years after it went off the air. In the middle of a pandemic.
Can you imagine the marching band or Drum Corps version of this makes your heart speed up just thinking about it., 20 years later after it left us., this song sounds just as perfect as the first time it was ever performed that is when you know something is a classic. This raised the bar for anime both in design and music that anime creators have been playing catch-up ever since.

Once upon a time, in New York City in 1941... at this club open to all comers to play, night after night, at a club named "Minston's Play House" in Harlem, they play jazz sessions competing with each other. Young jazz men with a new sense are gathering. At last they created a new genre itself. They are sick and tired of the conventional fixed style jazz. They're eager to play jazz more freely as they wish then... in 2071 in the universe... The bounty hunters, who are gathering in the spaceship "BEBOP", will play freely without fear of risky things. They must create new dreams and films by breaking traditional styles. The work, which becomes a new genre itself, will be called... COWBOY BEBOP

dude killed it as usual, too bad that arab guy had to ruin the last part tho
Here's the entire rap:
Its a hard, cold world,
But even colder without'cha.
Lookin' for kind eyes at every single encounter.
Cuttin' through harsh stares,
Got my hope from the doubters.
Memory starts to fade,
Sweet dreams begin to sour.
Wind smothers my window,
Flame hard to rekindle.
World crumble around me,
Beggin' god for a signal.
Life is never that simple,
Lies dismantle temples,
That pain that left me crippled refined me like a chisel.
You find, me in the middle of
war through peace,
Just Tryin' to ease my mental,
Explorin' beats.
Real rhymes for real times,
Sweetest gift like Sadé,
In my name,
Meanin' so classic like Watanabe.
Never that hard to find me,
A rider for the people,
Do or die,
suitland sire,
Born to rise above the evil.
Walk through fire if I need to,
To get to higher ground.
I am down for the fight of my life till the final round.
-
This is for my real folks,
Who never wanted to deal dope,
Who see the world at it's darkest and bleakest and still hope,
Know that kindness ain't a weakness, just a sign of our uniqueness.
Hard as you work to get it, that's how hard you work to keep it, not a secret!
I just rap to offset my setbacks,
Tryna get the bounty like I'm Jet Black,
So respect that.
Qualifier like a Mike Eagle,
Rappin for my people,
Leave the mic smokin' like I'm Spike Spiegel.
They say business and pleasure, they don't mix,
But when I'm with my real folks,
There ain't no need code switch.
When I'm feelin hopeless, my folks keep me focused.
Faye with the Osteo .45,
We don't miss!
But my heart,
It gets torn in two,
When I see what this world has now morphed into.
But no matter what, we gonna get through.
Kickin' off the blues,
And takin' off like the Swordfish II!
_
I'm not a,
Saint or a sinner,
My days are my winners,
My dreams are my picture,
My breakfast is dinner,
My gun is my mirror.
My friends are my villains,
I come from the village where love is your killer,
Where love gets you killed,
If you know when you feel it,
Your losses are vicious.
Turnin my shooting stars to an asteroid,
You use your eyes too much,
I flow in the focal point,
You overthink almost every choice and you die quick.
You never risk what'cha got and you never find shit!
Never do what I'm told!
Bravery isn't bold!
People die who were right about everything that they know,
But their finger was slow!
Do what you sold,
I go where I go.
Whatever happens happens,
I see one eye through the past and I keep on backin,
Depressin,
I'm usin the baskin to end it,
Now I'm askin the questions, graspin' my weapon on top'a my exit,
I kill me the dragon!
I'm back from the steps and the gate,
They're waitin' for me,
Let me carry the weight.
Bang.

That and all these artists performing their instruments and rap verses while Yoko Kanno herself watched in loving approval. I'm going to need a few days to recover from the emotional impact of this.
dude same im crying watching this
Yea I feel you
I’m literally bawling.
Blue will be played at my, in the far future I hope, funeral. I said.
Me TOOOOOOO!
when jet starts saying "Don't be suprised" I thought this dude was about to have some sick verses lmao
"pack a grip, and join my ship, the BE-BOP" lol
"-DONT BE SUPRISE- OR - HYPNOTIZED- BY THE WAY YOUR LIFE- -REST WITHIN MY FINGERTIPS-" Totally feel ya. Thats what I was hearing in my head or thought he was going with it. totally sounded like he was gonna rhyme.😄
“Humans were meant to work and sweat for their money after all. Those that try to get rich quickly or live at expense of others - all get divine retribution along the way. That is the lesson. But, one thing about humans is that they quickly forget the lesson they have learnt.” - Jet Black
“I’m not going there to die. I’m going there to find out if I’m really alive.” - Spike Spiegel
You;re so right, Jet. Especially if they're movie stars!
Exactly Jet Black! 😍
I want to thank Yoko Kano and the Seatbelts for mentioning my cousin Memphis Slim in the end-title of the anime series Cowboy Beebop! Slim was a great guy and I had the pleasure and honor of touring with him for a short while when I was a child!
Literally the ONLY thing that could have made this any better is if Steve Conte was added in. But that would shatter the internet. This video already has way too much power for mortal eyes and ears
I AGREE! They should have included Steve Conte.
Ikr Where is him ??? 😩
Damn I would have died happy to hear his voice in this day and age! UGH Imiss him so much 😢💖💖
Word.
According to his Twitter, he's recorded 2 acoustic songs for different music magazines to be posted online this coming week.
Also, he got stuck out of the U.S. when the quarantine hit and can't get a stimulus check or unemployment for that reason.
"Rappin' for my people, leave the mic smokin' like I'm Spike Spiegel'
That line was so fire I hads to put my computer on the fridge
It has got me covered in sweat
Mega Ran ftw
Shouldn’t it be “leave the mic smokin like Spike Spiegel”
Bruh that whole verse was fucking heattttttt
I had to put the phone in the freezer
Not first - No one is gonna see this - But I'm here with tears in my eyes. An old song made new, with surprises around every beat, made with love across the world. Maybe it's the times, maybe it's the nostalgia - But you all gave me the thing I most wanted, and didn't know I wanted. Thanks to all involved.
Nas Helewa I’m having the same reaction. Everyone else on this thread so far has summed up my feelings, none more perfectly than u.
😭💕🙏🙏🙏
This music and the associated images and voices of the anime have a direct line to certain memories and emotions in my brain that will forever be intertwined. Not to mention the fact that the anime, itself, deals with some pretty heavy issues such as life and death, meaning and purpose, and it's no wonder that it affects us this way.
I see this and I share your sentiment. This collab is golden.
You're seen, space cowboy.
"I come from the village where love is your killer. Where love gets you killed."
Oh, Spike. At least you followed your heart.
I am FREAKING OUT. That was epic af! When Yoko popped up I yelped and scared my cat. Thank you for this!
I got a legitimate emotional jolt when Yoko and the Seatbelts popped up. Thrilled the sidebar for this video's showing me they've been doing some other great stuff during quarantine!
I cried the first time I heard it all finished. The end...omg. I’m so happy to have had a small part in this wonderful thing.
As a DIE HARD Cowboy Bebop fan this made me cry out of joy. This was absolutely perfectly executed. Wow. Just wow. Thanks for helping us carry that weight Cowboys and Gals. I hope we all meet again amongst the stars, somewhere... someday.
See you space cowboy, someday somewhere!🌹
I'm gonna state this obvious: Shihori has the perfect voice for this song.
yamane is so much better than shihori it hurts
Nope, Mai Yamane still own this song. Her husky voice set the bar to high to be reachable by anyone. And not mention how The Seatbelts hold nothing back in this song.
ok but for real yamane and shihori are both amazing both versions are fire
Perfect😊
Mai Yamane
always gonna be the perfect and only voice for me :)
This is incredible. Can FUNimation please do something like this for Samurai Champloo?
It wouldn't be...as exciting if they did though...RIP Nujabes. :(
Champloo and bebop have the best soundtracks in anime history
@@xHiyami I'm still sad about him.. I think Shing02 could do it though!
Yes please! Shing02 still performs and Substantial also worked with Nujabes back then. Call up Fat Jon too
@@xHiyami his friend and protege Substantial was actually in this video wild enough

Glad they got Beau Billingslea, He was the guy I always thought would voice Barett in FF7, hes too cool
Most under rated performance in that whole show. Seriously what a cast and what an OST
I’m a sub guy at heart but I can appreciate the English cast
life gives back every once in a while.
I'm still freaking out over this, several days later. Man, it's an honor to be a part of this amazing collaboration. All I did was play a little cello, but being able to see the whole thing come together and then experience the amazing final result has been an epic ride! ♥️
I think this is now the definitive version of this song. I've love it for decades but this version just feels next level. it has so much heart!
Agreed this feels like the version of this song it was always meant to be. And all these people coming together from all across the world that originally had nothing to do with the show , they were just fans that grew up with it, shows how far this show has reached and how many people it’s touched . That in a literal global crisis we would all still turn to THIS SHOW for comfort speaks volume about the impact it’s had over the years
Like this is the only version i listen to now please someone get this on Spotify
This is one of those rare songs where the ED is better than the OP, and thats a huge statement to say when Tank! is the OP
Tank is like doing a line cocaine of a still smoking revolver.
RFB is like the last sip of the expensive whiskey you've been nursing for 2 hours as the night club is shutting down... and it's just what ya needed.
@@Vilis_Farthuk Wholeheartedly agree
@@Vilis_Farthuk Nice
See *_this_* is how you do a corona collab.
Yoko still killing all the modern artists. THIS is music
Makes me feel like a kid again watching bebop on adult swim for the first time again.
Now, My little brothers also joining watching this masterpiece with me..
It's true, Masterpiece will always be remembered from the past till the future..
Yeah back when Adult Swim was worth a damn
This was on Adult swim!?
@@mikemaceda3222 Late at night, yes. But also, sometimes they'd have it on Toonami. It would come on around midnight or 1 am.
Last dude's verse is so energizing!
THAT is how you do a long distance collab. That was outstanding.
Me: I won't sing...
2 seconds later: THE REAL FOOOOLKS BLUES
We're all singing...THE REEAAL FOLK BLUES....😆
I literally laughed out loud cause I was screaming the real folks blues at three in the morning listening to this alone in my room and I'm here again approx 12 hrs later
You’re gonna carry that weight
Glad you caught that ;)
Still carrying it
damn it still hurts
ive been carring my whole life
I was looking for this comment.
I painted "see you space cowboy" on the wall above my last apt...100% worth losing my deposit
I screamed liked a five year old the moment the music ended, and then the LAST bits afterwards?.... How silent was the room. I bought a decal with those very words, "see you space cowboy..." for my car since the show was a constant re-watch (even literally now) for me. Thank you.
Bro same here. When Steve starts speaking at the end I kept screaming "yo!" in disbelief.
How can you not love Yoko Kanno playing air trumpet on the horn riffs? She's got that little secretive smile that tells you she knows ALL the answers and won't tell Spike a damn thing lol.
She sent us her bit with the seatbelts and when I saw her bobbing her head and them just being playful about the arrangement my head exploded. HUGE inspiration to me and everybody else on here! Hope your safe and healthy friend! Thanks for listening!
"Do not fear death. Death is always at our side. When we show fear, it jumps at us faster than light, but if we do not show fear, it casts its eye upon us gently and then guides us into infinity." Laughing Bull
4 years later, and i still listen to this song nearly every day
This was so dope. So cool they could do something like this. It's also pretty amazing that Cowboy Bebop is still so popular. It's 22 years old now!
It aged like a fine whiskey!!
We're still carrying that weight
@@TheCoolCore Hell ya
True art never goes out of style
This was stunning. I'm not exactly sure why, but it got me a bit emotional. Bebop is my reigning #1 anime and has been since I saw it premiere back on Toonami. It was a big part of my childhood. Seeing all these amazing artist come together in this difficult/strange time is just so uplifting. Also shout out to the editor/editors, great job with the cuts and animations. Seriously thanks to everyone involved. Stay safe, stay healthy, stay happy, and as always See you space cowboy.
Me and Dallas Crane spent a LOT of time on this edit and it means a lot that you guys loved it this much! I hope you're feeling well and don't worry you'll get through this I believe in you!
@@ZaidTabani Thanks so much! Also all your hard work shows. Really great job. I am an animator and know exactly what goes into all of this and can only imagine the time spent to get it right. It has inspired me to improve my skills during this at home time. So a huge applause from me! Keep it up, you guys are amazing. Also same to you and yours! Stay safe, happy and healthy!
Definitely brought tears to my eyes. What an amazing thing this is!
I remember staying up late as a kid watching Cowboy bebop on Toonami and just jamming to the opening and ending soundtrack. The music really pulled the anime together, better than any other anime imo
It is the greatest anime ever made. This video is why.
Steve Blum still got that Golden voice. Even though, I am not a fan of rap at all, the music still shines though at the end.
This series will never die and it shouldn't.
My eyes watered as she sang the first note. Not enough “Likes” in the world to express how amazing this is!
in tears here
Same. Took me back to the first few days of college when I'd listen to the song on an old beat up MP3 player. This is pretty much closure for me.
Yea I def cried too!
Dear Disney, Leave this anime alone. Its perfect already.
i agree
Netflix is making a movie, has already been cast and everything
Jace Mathenia not just confirmed but are filming a second season - John Cho got injured on set last I saw for a scene during season 2.
misspelled netflix bud, also too late
I'm honestly really conflicted about a live action adaptation of this. Like, on one hand at least they're not picking something that would require a metric fuckload of CG, so they at least have that going for them. Plus, Sci-fi is a genre we've been doing pretty well for almost 50 years now. I think where this adaptation will fall short is the cast, and they'll also probably try to change the story for some stupid reason. I guess we'll have to wait and see how it goes.
Was I the only one surprised to see Substantial? I know him from Nujabes collabs. I’ve never actually seen his face until now.
Substantial has been one of my favorite artists for years, HAD to include him.
Shit was dope
I still bump blessin it today. I knew what he looked like, but he used to have dreads.
He worked with watanabe on Champloo, so he's got some connection. Makes sense. All three rappers were dope on this track.
no wonder he was emitting mad nujabes vibes. the power of lo-fi

THE REAL FOLK BLUES
It's a hard, cold world but even colder without ya'
Looking for kind eyes in every single encounter
Cuttin' through hard stares, guard my hope from the doubters
Memories start to fade, sweet dreams begin to sour
Wind smothers my windows, flame hard to rekindle
World crumble around me begging God for a signal
Life is never that simple, lies dismantle temples
That pain that left me crippled, refined me like a chisel
You find me in the middle of war and peace
Just trying to ease my mental exploring beats
Real rhymes for real times, "Sweetest Gift" like Sade
And my name mean it's a classic like Watanabe
Never that hard to find me, a rider for the people
"Do-or-dier", Suitland sire, born to rise above the evil
Walk through fire if I need to, to get to higher ground
I am down for the fight of my life 'til the final round
This is for my real folks, who never wanted to deal dope
Seen the world at its darkest and bleakest and still hope
Know that kindness ain't a weakness
It's just a sign of our uniqueness
As hard as you work to get it, that's how hard you work to keep it
Not a secret, I just rap to offset my set backs
Tryna get the bounty like I'm Jet black
So, respect that, qualifier like I'm Mike Eagle
Repping for my people, leave the mic smoking like I'm Spike Spiegel
They say business and pleasure don't mix
But when I'm with my real folks there ain't no need to code switch
When I'm feeling hopeless, my folks keep me focused
Faye with the Austria 45, we don't miss
But my heart it gets torn in two
When I see what this world has now morphed into
But no matter what it is we gone get through
Kicking off the blues, and taking off like the Swordfish II
I'm not a saint or sinner, my days are my winters
My dreams are my picture, my breakfast is dinner
My gun is my mirror, my friends are my villians
I come from the village, where love is your killer
Where love get you killed if, you know when you feel it
Your losses are Vicious
Turn all my shooting stars to an asteroid
You use your eyes too much I flow with no focal point
You overthink almost every choice, and you die quick
You never risk what you got then you never find shit
Never do what I'm told, bravery isn't bold
People die who were right about everything that they know
But their finger was slow, you do what your sold
I go where I go, whatever happens
Happens, i see one eye through the past and
I Keep one back in the present, I used to bask at the ending
And now I'm asking the questions
Grasping my weapon, on top of my exit
I kill me the dragon, I'm back on the steps at the gate
They waiting for me, lemme carry the weight
BANG
See you, space cowboy!
When the "you're gonna carry that weight" comes at the end something grows up inside me
This made me cry in earnest, seeing so many creators come together for this excellent tune, and to hear the iconic voices of Jet and Spike once more... the catharsis we needed so badly but did not realize it would come in such an exquisite form. Bravo to all - this is a masterpiece.
me too, i'm fighting back tears the entire time

Finished Cowboy Bebop for first time a month ago, rewatched it with my younger brother that next week, it's been a month since finishing it that second time. I been missing the show so much and I just recently discovered it. I cannot imagine watching this years ago and getting something as special as this that many years later. Thank you to all involved! Gives me tears of happiness during these uncertain times.
I would give almost anything to watch Cowboy Bebop for the first time again. There will never be another quite like it.
@@gangrenousgandalf2102 THIS 🙆♀️ It's been 20 years but I can still remember how my life, for the better part of a year, revolved around this show as I watched it unfold, night after night. Man...to be 14 again and feel love's cruel sting....
One of my favorite parts of this is towards the end watching Yoko Kanno herself just vibe on this song
Thank you so much for the support FUNi! Absolutely honored to have been a part of this track.
Zaid murdered his verse! I love everyone involved in making this.
God I love this community.

All the quotes in this video are so poignant. I had never even seen Cowboy Bebop until after quarantine started and the entire series carries so much weight in that context. Maybe I watched the series just so I could see this video at this time.
I love this so much. Beau and Steve being in it is such a fanboy moment for me. Everything about Cowboy Bebop is perfect. Voice acting, music, everything.
Insane man. They’re such G’s
Dude exactly. I've been urging my partner to watch it!!! He's a big anime fan and hasn't watched cowboy bebop, can you believe that?
When I first watched Cowboy Bebop I was a child. I actually wept when Spike walked down the stairs in the finale. It wa just so emotional for me at the time. This show will always remain one of my all time favorites and this performance is so awesome, its exactly what the show deserves.
