      How do you get the text to be bold?

      @@Cristian.Cortez Bracket the text in question with a * on each end. The formatting gets wonky if you get punctuation bunched together, but that's the gist of it.

    If you'd have asked me this morning If I'd be spending eighteen and a half minute watching a women show off her owl collection, I'd have likely said no.But then I've been wrong before. Oh, think it's three hole for salt and two for pepper, Of course, could be wrong about that also. Love the videos, keep 'em coming.

    On the subject of birds of prey my sibling spotted a Great Blue Heron landing on a tree in a trail nearby a few weeks ago. It was such a sight to see it take a look around before it soared majestically away, truly hope to spot it once more in my lifetime.

    We dissected owl pellets in my 4th grade class, too. I remember being handed a lump of grey fur and found a little field mouse skull inside. There were other bones too, but I remember the skull most vividly. I thought it was awesome. Thanks for the vid. Brought back some fun memories. Super fun to see your neat collection, too!

      40 years ago when I got married, it was somehow decided that I collect Penguins. Every holiday, people would gift me with penguins. My husband and I collected Penguin ornaments and for 16 years we wound up decorating our Christmas Trees with Penguins and Musical Instruments. I even made a needlework penguin tree skirt! He died next to the Penguin Tree in February of 1999 and I've never celebrated Christmas since then. When I finally took down the tree, I recorded each of the penguin ornaments as I put it away with an explanation of where it came from (much as you did in this video with your Owls, Jerome), but who knows where that video is, and the technology probably no longer exists to view it. I do have a Curio Cabinet which has a few of the penguins along with other memorabilia, and as I sit here at my desk, there is penguin artwork on the walls created for me by a couple loved ones. It's fascinating how the human mind can latch on to some obsession, isn't it?

    All right, I definitely haven't seen all of your videos and most likely will not; however, this is my favorite. It may be because I've been sick all weekend and am not thinking clearly - and feel like crap. But I was hanging on every word - loved seeing the collection. I think the plush ones were my favorite - especially the one you said was the biggest. I know that I've made comments about the owls in the other videos, and probably will continue to do so, but I was not surprised that it was just something you liked. Makes sense. What was surprising, was the dissecting of owl pellets. I most certainly have never done that, nor have I ever heard of that. I have noticed that the time when your 10 to 14 or so greatly influences the rest of your life. I really honed in on my music tastes at that time and those five years contain much of my favorite music. Other things too, but music is easy for me to denote with time. TV shows and movies are many times seen in reruns growing up - especially because you're too young to be going to the cinema all of the time. So I am like you a little bit at least, in that I like many movies and TV shows that were made before I was born. Whoah, I'm getting off track here. Anyway, thanks for the great video.

    I don't know if majestic is a strong enough word. There's something intrinsically human even other birds of prey don't have in the way their eyes are arranged just like ours, front facing instead of side facing. I certainly can't forget the times I've locked eyes with a Barred Owl, or how cute was the Eastern Screech-owl I saw on my Christmas count route last year. I used to have Great Horned Owls in my own back yard before a pair of Red-tailed Hawks ran them off late last winter.
    Thanks for educating us on pellets and sharing your owl stuff. They are cool 😎

    Owls are very beautiful and extremely interesting, I've always found it fascinating that a bird, usually a nocturnal one are so flamboyant to look at, bright , but bright in darkness, almost as if they're natures candlestick and their big expressive eyes are the flame. I can sometimes hear Barn Owls, Long eared Owls and Short eared Owls here at night as I'm trying to sleep. I have noticed the two Owls on the shelf behind you but didn't think anything of it, it's a great collection, you can tell each item carries with it a memory and a connection to the person that gave it to you. Owls can be adorable, a solid collectors choice. I like the plush Owl, I think it's the look on his/her face, it's the look of bewilderment, an expression I know well lol. I have an affinity for Swans also, there's a large bevy of them where I live. ~ thank you Ms Weiselberry ~

    I always assumed it was because of your books, since books and owls seem to go hand in hand (and there's a bookshop near me called...Book Owl!). When I was younger, it was nutcrackers. My grandma gave me a nutcracker and suddenly that bloomed into a collection, and I got one every year, but they're not something you can display year round. So the nutcrackers evolved into shaving and barbershop stuff which became my room decor. Funny how collections just...happen. Also, your teacher sounds awesome. Ancient Egypt in 4th grade? Heck yes! The closest I got to that was our "gifted & talented" program teacher who taught us about the Mayans in 4th grade and whales in 5th grade (possibly to coincide with old VHS tapes of The Voyage of the Mimi. But I still credit her (and Indiana Jones) for my lifetime interest in history. :)
    Also, a story about birds of prey...I remember very vividly one time when a falcon hit my bedroom window, with a dove in its claws (yeah, a dove...I have no idea how their altercation happened but they just careened into the window together). It killed them instantly, and surprisingly the glass didn't break (probably because there was also a screen. I guess it broke both their necks, but I remember running outside and seeing them on the ground, the dove in the Falcon's clutches. Verrrry weird.
    And...final edit now that I saw the whole video: you have got to be kidding me! Some of those are beautiful, some are absolutely adorable, some are seriously cool. In particular I love the necklaces, scarves, and socks. And the ornaments. Several of those could legitimately go in a curio cabinet. Do people still have those? Regardless, you need one. Your owls should be displayed :)
    Thank you for this video! Loved it.

    You have a wonderful and fun collection of owl items. Thanks for sharing this with us. In my local area there is a nature preserve and they have events called "Owl Prowls" where a staff naturalist will take groups out at night to listen for owl calls and discuss the different owls in the preserve. Hey Weiselberry! This is a very fun video! Thank you for sharing that! As I mentioned before, my great grandmother collected owls too. Now, I am curious about the ones we may have inherited. I may need to look for those now! =) Also, purple and orange is a great color combination. It kinda goes with the triad color complimentary combination scheme. You see that combination on Halloween decor. About 10 years ago, I started a small key-chains-from-around-the-world collection but I gave that up. Also, at 16:24, an Angel got its wings. =) I hope you had a very blessed Thanksgiving. Now, I am in the Christmas spirits as I had decorated my room. =) God bless!

    Oh, my poor dear, I hope you're nursing that cold and otherwise pampering yourself. I'm going to exploit this as a second opportunity to mention Alan Garner's award-winning book The Owl Service -- owls come across a bit negatively in it but you may find it interesting. I've been fascinated by owls as long as I can remember and this is generating some thoughts. One is that we have a Batman and a Spider-Man and yet The Owl is an early archenemy of Daredevil, which just seems all wrong. Given the owl's strong connection to Athena -- goddess of wisdom, Athens is named after her -- I would love an owl-based superheroine. In fact, I think Mothra is at her best when she seems to suggest a great fluffy owl at least as much as a moth. (Sadly, a heroic Japanese owl-based monster seems unlikely, as the Japanese consider owls to be bad omens and harbingers of death.) During World War II there was a notable rebellion and mass escape at a concentration camp known as Sobibor -- the casualties were sadly very heavy, but it was still a notable act of defiance. I have always been struck by the fact that the name "Sobibor" literally means "owl forest." So glad you addressed this subject, thank you -- and owl be seeing you.

    • @missioncodez
      @missioncodez 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are a lot of movies featuring owls in prominent (if not starring) roles. A few off the top of my head:
      *Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole* (2010)
      *Clash of the Titans* (1982) - featured Bubo, a robotic version of Athena's owl. Think R2D2 for the Greek mythology update.
      *StageFright* (1987) - An Italian slasher where the killer donned an owl costume. *NOT* recommended for the Weiselberry women.

    • @robertrodriguez7087
      @robertrodriguez7087 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      *Under The Silver Lake* (2018) is another one I would not recommend to such people. Features a naked owl-headed woman. It's a...weird movie. Lots of Hitchcock references though. Universal monsters too.
      *Twin Peaks* involves owls.

      Hmmm, they say in the US it's customarily 2 for salt, 3 for pepper, but another commenter said the reverse and my mom agreed. Oh dear. I'd probably do 3 salt 2 pepper so as not to confuse people. However, if it were just up to me and my taste, I'd probably reverse it because I'm more likely to add a couple dashes of pepper to my eggs or fries or whatnot. :)

      @@Weiselberry Why do fish swim in salt water?
      Because pepper would make them sneeze.
      Well, I'm not a fish, and I am also on Team Pepper. : ) Truth be told, I haven't used a salt shaker in decades. There's already enough salt in most food, as is. Plus, I'm already dousing a lot of my food with salt-inherent hot sauce to begin with.
