Excellent review. I have one of these and learned some good info from your vid. I didn't realise I had a steering damper LOL. I agree that it's great value. Very comfortable and handles well. The build quality is amazing. Cheers.

my starter motor failed but I was able to get a cheap replacement off ebay and it easy to change. I've also found that if you let the battery get low the ABS doesn't set itself properly and gives an error. Other than that, no issues.

@@andymcm6902 My starter failed and I also got a replacement starter for a great price. Very easy to install. And if you ever have to change your battery you don't have to remove the tank, just loosen the front tank mount then prop the tank up with a stick.

I went from a Royal Enfield to this bike. At first it felt heavy and hard to shift. But it's so well balanced it doesn't feel heavy to me now. And I learned if you apply a little pressure to the shifter before pulling the clutch lever in you can shift very smoothly. This bike is so versatile! You can tool around the neighborhood or take a long trip; it's comfortable and efficient either way. P.S. your bike is in beautiful condition for 120,000 km. Great review!

Just bought one of these today. 1996 R1100R in this same red color. It is a project bike so I have some work ahead of me but I am excited to bring it back to life and see how it performs compared to my other bikes.

Hi Creative, i'm excited to hear about your R1100R project; how did it go ? I have just got my R1100R, planning a scrambler look, very much like Godrosy Denes version, also presented this channel.

@sveinnordby th-cam.com/video/NA4XXz5PBvM/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared. It is complete, except for replacing tires and front wheel bearings and they are sitting in my garage waiting to be done. I did not turn it into anything different. I kept it mostly stock. But it is literally like riding on a cloud. I am probably going to let it go because I have definitely decided that I am not into naked bikes, but I will probably pick up an R1250RS in the future because of the influence of this bike. It is unlike any other ride in my collection when it comes to comfort and a smooth ride. Good luck with yours, I hope you enjoy it.

Thank you for your review. I inherited my father-in-law's, RIP. It was apart due to an issue with hand warmers, so i had no knowledge about the bike other than my father in law would travel across the states on this bike in his late 60s. Now i understand why he was so fond of this bike. Hopefully i can get the same pleassure using it.

Lovely motorcycle. I had mine for several years. Mint condition, just wish I never sold it!

Recently brought an R1100RS. It's comfortable and stable even in cross winds. It's sweet spot is 80-120km/h and medium speed bends. Otherwise I find it pretty agricultural with quite heavy engine vibes on acceleration and I'm not keen on the behaviour of the shaft drive entering and exiting slow and tight corners. I had a similar vintage Honda VFR before this. Much better all round.

Great review. I have a 2000 and also ride it more than any others I own or have owned. It's so great to ride. I can go all day. Always entertaining and never fatigued. Though I don't think your fuel pump should continue making noise after the bike starts. My makes that sames sound for just a second when the key is turned. Then always quite. You may want to check it. Thanks for the review.

the whole aircooled/oilcooled conundrum is so funny to me. aircooled IS oil cooled, except for on tiny 2 strokes weed eaters and such. Any airgcooled motor on a bike or car makes use of oil for cooling, especially the most iconic aircooled car, the vw beetle. great review, been looking at r1150rs, but the r1100 seems simpler, and also A WAY BETTER LOOKING BIKE. which isn't super important but god do i like to have a pretty bike.

Beautiful bike. Some good points made concerning the simplicity of this over the R 1150. I'm looking to sell my K1100 LT to get one of these. Much more practical for everyday riding. Thanks for posting

I do like it but it looks ancient for 1999. Didn't yamaha have the TRX850 and the Fazer 600 and Honda Had the Vtr1000 firestorm. Some cool bikes back then in that same year.

thanks for this review. My late father in law has one of these in a mint condition and I'm planning to inherit since it has a sentimental value. Does rocking left to right cause any balance problems while riding?

Small correction, when you mentioned “shaft oil”, you may have meant to say differential oil.

    • @chrishart8548
      @chrishart8548 ปีที่แล้ว

I think you only need a differential when you have 2 wheels. So one can spin faster when cornering.

beautiful this amazing bmw! question: I'm interested in buying a used model from 1998 ( im in France) but I'm a little afraid of the lack of a fuel gauge and an odometer... there's really only the indicator reserve on this bike? Or did I look wrong?

Bimmer is so stupid not simply including a actual analogue FUEL GAUGE instead of the dummer clock. only the included dumber Fuel idiot light if it's working when the bulb simply burns out good luck knowing how much milage range is actually in the tank & I definitely can see myself running out of gas because of this super dumb no gas gauge setup. Period I know where I can get one but a Silver Red seat 1995 R1100R in Alberta Canada with 12,000 mile from New for only $3265.00 cad. A Huge steal of a bike if you ask me & the Full size Hard bags from the brand itself & a Good size super clear Plexi glass Windscreen.
