    If you're confused, there were two 2004 Peach Bowls, this has happened five times since 1988.

    One of Clemson's more talented teams over the last 20 years...
    Had they played like this all year they'd been 11-1 or 10-2 easily.

      Agree. They were the hottest team in the Country going into that game.

    I recall the memory of one CU fan at this game who was told by a Tennessee fan “that you don’t belong in the same stadium with us.” Hmmm!

    This was a doozy of a bowl selection controversy. The #6 team in the country got relegated to a non-New Year's Day bowl game while Florida, a four-loss team they beat decisively at the Swamp, got a New Year's bowl game as did a Georgia team that got crushed in the SEC-CG.
    And go figure, Florida was in THIS very Peach Bowl the following year.

      Clemson was going to drill anyone they played in this game. 8-4 but they were hot.

    • @davik9003
      @davik9003 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      because the "Bowl Selection Committee" has a convoluted labyrinth of tie ins which allows more important sponsors to pick which teams they want. This was 2004 and it was obviously corrupt and about money. It was impossible to pass on Clemson/Tennessee geographically and both teams travel well.

      @@dowdtimmerman4414 Tommy Bowden went 3-5 in the post season, at this point he'd only won the Humanitarian bowl. They had a solid year but I can guarantee you us Clemson fans never expected to "clean house" easily. Even after the 63-17 demolition of Lou Holtz

    What a game! Clemson had some dudes on that squad! If only they had played like that all season they possibly could have been 11-1 perhaps 10-2 that season. I’m mean Florida State, Maryland where two teams Clemson definitely had trouble with, although they could have beat FSU, likely lost to Maryland to go 11-1, but still this team had some dudes, they just couldn’t stay consistent. Awesome way to finish the season though 9-4, life’s good!

      My favorite Royal Rumble was the one where HHH and Cactus Jack had a street fight, Then at the next PPV they fought in a Hell in a Cell and then at Wrestlemania it was a fatal 4 way between Rock Big Show Mick Foley and HHH, HHH won all 3 ppvs before losing the strap to the Rock the following month at Backlash

    I remember people saying that because Tennessee lost to an ACC team (Maryland) in their bowl game the year before, they would never lose to an ACC team two years in a row. Yeah, pretty stupid analysis.

    The announcer was so biased during this game and it’s obvious 😂 even at the end of the game he couldn’t wait to go to the next game. Go Tigers!!!

    Adrian Karsten's last appearance on ESPN and television as a whole. He was fired by ESPN in the 2004 college football offseason (alcohol dependence) and was later sentenced to 11 months in federal prison and nine months home detention (tax evasion) after failing to disclose that he made $607,000 between 1999 and 2002 for ESPN. Just before he was due to report to jail, he died by suicide (hanging) in September of 2005 at just 45 years old.
