@@lexluger2jonnyblaze Well it was on the decline because no Magic and Lakers competing in the West; no Pistons, they broke up their team; the Sixers were supposed to be a contender coming into the 1990-91 season and they traded G-man and Dawkins was injured, then in '91-92 no Rick Mahorn and the Celtics were okay but just okay so the only competition for Chicago was Detroit and the Pistons broke up their title-contending team by waiving Vinnie Johnson and trading James Edwards to the Clippers; I was shocked the Knicks could even take it to 7 games in '91-'92, those Knicks in the 90's were a bad professional choke team, made Riley had to quit that foolishness .... In the West you had a choke Portland team and Utah always underachieved, so yes, the NBA was on the decline in comparison to where it had been .... Jordan was just fun to watch individually because he was a complete player but that's about it .... I mean you basically have Sammy Davis, Jr. in Vegas or Sinatra performing -- great performances and that's what we saw from #23 but the competition sucked and had come and gone by the time Jordan got his first .... As a matter of fact, it took an injured Detroit team while the Pistons helped Chicago win in '91 for the Bulls to finally win, then the Pistons had to break up their team to keep Chicago winning.
@@Joseph-lz5er me too. Me too. My heart is sad because those days are long gone and they won't return. The mind set of these players are so different. The rule changes are horrible. The game is unwatchable for me. I've officially said goodbye to the NBA. I will only watch these classic games on TH-cam
15:47 Neat sequence that shows the contrast in styles of the two superstars hinted at in the intro. Charles powering one in through sheer brute force followed a second later by Jordan making a missed lay-up and tip-in look like the smoothest thing you've ever seen.
In this period of time players were professionals and took their jobs seriously. Now players aspire to be TV artists and look to be viral in the gram. Different motivations, different NBA.
Unpopular opinion: I miss the days when all you needed was just eight teams to make it in each conference. Today's NBA wanna give out participation trophies 🏆 and chances to the 9th and 10th place teams to try and get them in.
it's weird seeing CB wear 32 (he did it to honor Magic)... a little over 3 months after this game, the Chuckster was traded to Phoenix... these old games are the best
Tom Hammond is a great announcer. I give him his just dues. He’s called great NBA moments. But this rare MJ vs Sir Charles game with no Marv Albert was a great game, just like the ones from 1991 to 1996 were. Tom is one of my favorite sports announcers, along with the many analysts he was paired with.
Now that's a classic game right there, this is when the NBA was fantastic!! I can watch these games all day

so true ! best times on earth...
That NBC intro music still gives goosebumps to this day. I miss these days so much. This is when grown men played in the NBA
It was the golden era of basketball. As a kid, I remember being so excited every Sunday to watch these games on NBC.
The monologues by Bob Costas were fire too.
Yep, well if nothing else, That Beautiful symphony is on the way back!

@@QdaChosenOne23 I doubt it will be the same
This was good basketball back then now I can't even stomach basketball anymore.
That intro summary was amazing.

RIP Steve “Snapper” Jones very underrated in my opinion.
Loved Snapper Jones! His banter always put a smile on my face.
I love how they had the framed pro cut jerseys on the Showtime set in the early years. Those jerseys are worth so much money now
This game is better than the Olympics 😯
100000%
Man the intro took me back to my childhood
That MJ dunk over Chuck at 20:24 was nasty work.

Bulls were 50-12 entering this game and would go 17-3 in their last 20 games for a 67-15 record.
Typical as the cardinal rule is that they don't lose more than two in a row at this time. Mind blown.

That opinion is not unpopular.
Appreciate this a million times...
amazing basketball. thank you!
The 6ers need to retro these jerseys
Air Meets Thunder

37:05 Barkley blocks popped. Amazing block.
Both teams are great.
THE YEAR OF BARCELON OLYMPIC GAMES ! the year of the dream team ! In that GAMES BARKLEY was the best of the best !
Imagine if this Charles Barkley just up and went to The Bulls in Free Agency the next year!!
it's weird seeing CB wear 32 (he did it to honor Magic)... a little over 3 months after this game, the Chuckster was traded to Phoenix... these old games are the best
Regular season played hard you don't see that anymore..
THIS WAS THE REAL HOOP EXIST! PLAYED WITH PRIDE AND EGO! BEST OF THE BEST!
sounds of NBA 90's
This is a great NBA game
God bless you man!
When guys didn’t take a night off
The game just matters more!
Barkley a couple yrs early practicing his Space Jam scene selling fouls to the ref 😂
And you know MJ was teasing Barkley on his defense attempt with just under 2 min left
Charles Barkley last season as a sixer
6:37 ugh, illegal screen... Great Upload My G!!
This era helps NBA can like now only the rules are ridiculous for current NBA.
Jeff Ruland was stealing money at this point. Sixers should have kept Moses till he retired
I missed the NBA
ADIDAS TORSION NIKE AIR FLIGHT NIKE AIR FORCE 180 NOT ONLY PLAYERS ARELEGENDARY SNEAKERS TOO !
ya......i remember the retro
I wonder, from listening to the half time show, was winning 70 games a conversation in 92?
Retired athlete grudge boxing matches would have been great.
A Jordan vs Barkley game minus Marv Albert. Still a great game nonetheless.
Put some respect on Tom Hammond’s name.

I was waiting to see if they run over Barkley on the east back before they called time
Cuando en la liga se jugaba Basquet...Hoy aburren.

Where's Marv Albert?
He was calling the Pistons/Lakers game that day
