I’m in Philly. The late 80’s-90’s Bulls are the only non-Philly team that I would watch even if one of my Philly teams were playing. MJ had no peers. Dude was one of a kind. Simply the best.
I also was in Chicago for all 6, I also remember going to Chicago Stadium as a kid when the stands were almost empty, and then came the GOAT! Luckily I had season tickets the entire MJ era, best era ever in basketball 🏀

This is why the Bulls were a dynasty in the 90’s. They stuck together and grew as a team. Growing up in Chicago watching the pain the teams went through and what the fans went through as well only made the first championship that much better. I was 17 years old in ‘91 and I’ll never forget that year. Young kids who never watched MJ play in those early years have no idea what they’re talking about when they say MJ had a stacked team back in the day and that’s why he was great. Please. Having to go through teams like Boston, Milwaukee and Detroit each year were some of the toughest the Bulls had to go through. It was ALMOST like winning a championship when they finally swept the Bad Boys, who had given the Bulls the most problems...especially MJ who would literally get beat up whenever they played against them. It felt so good to finally get passed those guys. The rest is history. I’ll always love those guys because they helped put Chicago on the map after years and years of losing seasons. MJ was and always will be the GOAT.

I will NEVER forget Jordan's baseline dunk on the Knicks at 15:58 min. He splits the double team in an INCREDIBLE move of deception, THEN dunks on Patrick Ewing. The fake was so subtle and then explosive that Starks and Oakley are still moving in the OPPOSITE direction of MJ as he goes back baseline toward the basket before dunking on the Knicks biggest player. It's THE greatest move I ever saw.

@whole27 i might be wrong but im pretty sure i remembered hearing barkley even saying i would have never joined jordan, pippen and the bulls just because of his competitive nature and he wanted to beat them. Obviously didnt work put for him, and later in his career he did team up with hakeem, and drexler in houston, but all three were more or less at the end of their careers. Its more just a different mindset now compared to the 80s and 90s

the bulls weren't loaded. cartwright was not a great center, very slow and no vision. hodges was a great three point shooter, but they needed him to replace Paxton. Pippen was a great #2 because of his size and could run the court with Jordan. Horace Grant wasn't great but became a great rebounder, eventually replaced by Rodman. Each player had to up their game to compliment Jordan...
This video shows what the NBA use to be like. Franchise players didn’t jump from team to team year after year. They stuck around until the owners filled the holes that they were lacking. The NBA isn’t like that anymore. Aside from it being softer, now franchise players join one team and that’s how they win ‘ships. I grew up in Chicago during the greatest era in basketball. I went through the heartbreak with the Bulls. MJ was and still is the greatest of all time. To be able to watch him day in and day out was like a dream. He encouraged you to play defense out on the court on top of trying to mimic his many offensive moves. When they started to beat the Bad Boys in that ‘91 series was almost like witnessing a championship on its own. Couldn’t stand Detroit Pistons and it was so aggravating to see those guys kick the Bulls asses every time. It was a great feeling to get passed those guys by sweeping them.
Still watching this regularly....I was barely 15 years at that time, getting up far after midnight in Belgium to watch the games live. Those were the days! As much as I still love the NBA today, the 90's were the absolute golden era of NBA basketball. Players remained mostly loyal to their team, trying to win a championship no matter the odds.
Jordan was obsessed with winning, LeBron is obsessed with being viewed as the greatest. There's several players i would compare Jordan to before LeBron.

Brother Dee... Great Point. I'm a Pistons fan and truly respect Michael (The GOAT) and the Bulls kept at it and finally won as a team. Todays players leave, setup super teams. Its interesting to watch as a sports fan, but its not the same. The Pistons had years of disappointment, but kept at it and beat Bird's Celtics, Magic's Lakers, and yes, the Bulls on more than occasion. Great times in the NBA back then.

This Lakers team only lost 3 games the entire playoffs coming into this series too. They swept the Rockets in the first series. Then beat Golden state 4-1 and Portland 4-2 in the western finals. Beating them 4-1 shows just how good this Bulls squad really was.
And Magic was coming off an MVP year the season prior. I just hate how new age fans love to slander MJ's accomplishments by saying he only won because Magic was already "washed up". How do you become washed up after winning an MVP the season before?

He was even a catalyst in one of those finals games against the lakers. Phil sat down the starting lineup after being down a significant margin, and Cliff helped lead the comeback with his energy and veteran leadership.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but I don't think we can underestimate just how important bench players like Levingston, Hodges, Hanson, Williams, Perdue, etc were to the success of the early Bulls' run.

I will NEVER forget Jordan's baseline dunk on the Knicks at 15:58 min. He splits the double team in an INCREDIBLE move of deception, THEN dunks on Patrick Ewing. The fake was so subtle and then explosive that Starks and Oakley are still moving in the OPPOSITE direction of MJ as he goes back baseline toward the basket before dunking on the Knicks biggest player. It's THE greatest move I ever saw.

the bulls weren't loaded. cartwright was not a great center, very slow and no vision. hodges was a great three point shooter, but they needed him to replace Paxton. Pippen was a great #2 because of his size and could run the court with Jordan. Horace Grant wasn't great but became a great rebounder, eventually replaced by Rodman. Each player had to up their game to compliment Jordan...

This video shows what the NBA use to be like. Franchise players didn’t jump from team to team year after year. They stuck around until the owners filled the holes that they were lacking. The NBA isn’t like that anymore. Aside from it being softer, now franchise players join one team and that’s how they win ‘ships. I grew up in Chicago during the greatest era in basketball. I went through the heartbreak with the Bulls. MJ was and still is the greatest of all time. To be able to watch him day in and day out was like a dream. He encouraged you to play defense out on the court on top of trying to mimic his many offensive moves. When they started to beat the Bad Boys in that ‘91 series was almost like witnessing a championship on its own. Couldn’t stand Detroit Pistons and it was so aggravating to see those guys kick the Bulls asses every time. It was a great feeling to get passed those guys by sweeping them.

Still watching this regularly....I was barely 15 years at that time, getting up far after midnight in Belgium to watch the games live. Those were the days! As much as I still love the NBA today, the 90's were the absolute golden era of NBA basketball. Players remained mostly loyal to their team, trying to win a championship no matter the odds.

Its interesting to watch as a sports fan, but its not the same. The Pistons had years of disappointment, but kept at it and beat Bird's Celtics, Magic's Lakers, and yes, the Bulls on more than occasion. Great times in the NBA back then.

This Lakers team only lost 3 games the entire playoffs coming into this series too. They swept the Rockets in the first series. Then beat Golden state 4-1 and Portland 4-2 in the western finals. Beating them 4-1 shows just how good this Bulls squad really was.

Wisemen Wisemen yes he was. Many people either don’t remember that, or aren’t old enough to remember that one season he played with the bulls. He was even a catalyst in one of those finals games against the lakers. Phil sat down the starting lineup after being down a significant margin, and Cliff helped lead the comeback with his energy and veteran leadership.
The Bulls didn't trade him, he played the following season with them winning another ring and then he played overseas for two years.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but I don't think we can underestimate just how important bench players like Levingston, Hodges, Hanson, Williams, Perdue, etc were to the success of the early Bulls' run.
I remember watching these games. Being from LA all my friends were Laker fans except for me. I gave them so much grief when lost at home. I still do :)
