I've used it as designed for 40, and bypassed it for 20. I don't use tuned counterpoise to much, just like to use ground radials because of their simplicity.
I got the Sporty 40 to toy around with and show how to get some versatility out of it. Didn't need another antenna, but that's never stopped me before.
I made sure I got to the WRC booth before they all sold out. I think I'll take it back yard portable and show how to use it 40 through 10. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the video. Picked up a sporty 40 and ground spike at the show today.
Now its time to go play on 40 meters.
The 17' whip means you can bypass the coil from 6 to 20m with the whip to 1 /4 l. On 6 and 10, it is possible to do 1/2 on the whip
Sure thing Dominic, with a little fussing you can get on multiple bands. Gonna give it a go.
Have you tried this antenna with elevated radials that are tuned to the different bands? If not... thoughts?

I can't wait for the new 17.75 foot whip.
Yep, that announcement surprised me and excited me at the same time.
Excuse me, is this an exhibition with antenna theme? Where is it? It looks interesting.
It certainly is. This is Hamcastion 2023 in Orlando, Florida. Ends Sunday at noon.
i have one along with about everything else out there. I only use it a few times. Not my first choice but is nicely built.

The WRC whips are well ....I know mine lasted about 30 seconds before it broke. I think it was defective. I use a MFJ 1979 now.
Yeah, their whips.... I think they are making a good decision on upgrading. They didn't give a specific introduction date, but it sounded soon.
You really can't beat Wolf River Coils. I've gone through a lot of antennas over the years but I always keep going back to my WRC.
Right there with you. A new ham ran into me at Hamcation looking for an antenna...I pointed them right to the WRC booth!
Great company with a great product!
They really are Dean. Its not complicated gear, it just works. Great people too!
I do like that 40 👍

Nice
Good gear, good value, good people.
I like the TIA that I have. Used it several times camping or portable. Works great.

WRC gear, straightforward, just works!
Need Shorty 80!
LOL, not sure how "shorty" they will be able to get it. Might have to call it the "Sporty Longy"
Bought a wolf river coil antenna at Hamcation.
The two owners are a wealth of knowledge.

Great company, gear, and people. Glad to do business with them.
