- This is gem right here from Dr. Mattie Moss Clark conservatory music schools anniversary concert. This medley includes all five Clark Sisters namely, Jacky, Denise , Elbernita “Twinkie”, Dorinda and Karen. This medley is a MUSICAL EXTRAVAGANZA, showcases just how HEAVENLY GIFTED THE CLARK SISTER ARE. This clip to me is when the sisters were in their ALL FIVE SISTERS ALL BLAZING THEIR VOCALS!!! Twinkie is creating a MUSICAL MASTERPIECE on the synthesizers and organ. This clip display how raw their vocals are. @@rashonts FACTS!! The way Twinkie was on them keys was OUTSTANDING!! All FIVE SISTERS VOCALS WERE SLAMMING!!! Then you also hear the songs in their rawness before they were released on record because this in 1985 so you get the OG Balm in Gilead with Denise, Dorinda and Karen on lead and then you get the OG Smile God Loves You!!!

@@Dahverin-kk4on this is the original version! Karen always did the third verse. Niecey did the first verse Dorinda second and Karen last. Once Neiecy left Karen took on the first verse and Dorinda did the second. It’s another video of them singing balm this way, at the 1983 Holy Convocation

That’s a fact!! During this era they were at their vocal PRIME!! From 1982-1985 was the Clark Sisters GOLDEN ERA!! Twinkie was at this time a MUSICAL MASTERMIND. Her pen 🖊️ was A-1 , Her production was top tier, nobody was creating the harmonies that she was doing and her vocals were BAR NONE!! Also the sisters were VOCAL WHIPPED INTO PERFECT SHAPE!!

@@jordanwynne6554 I think that secular definitely recognized her even at that time. One example is Aretha called Twinkie personally to perform at her father's funeral in 1984...but hearing things in this medley were beyond where Gospel was at that time....stunning
@@Dahverin-kk4on oh yeah that’s a fact!! I had a smile clip of Twinkie singing at CL Franklins funeral but I lost it sadly 😩 Twinkie was lightyears ahead of her time. That why you can listen to her work from thirty or forty years ago and it sounds like it could be released today

Jordan! Thank you so very much for sharing who I call the greatest gospel group of all time. They are my absolute favorite ❤group of all times. Incomparable!!! I wished they were my actual sisters. I used to sing and scream their vocals when I was young.

Thanks for the upload! I cherish anytime someone uploads rare performances of The Clark Sisters when Denise was in the group. They all sounded amazing:
- The transitions were dope especially the one between Smile God Loves You and You Brought The Sunshine.
- It's crazy how tight their harmonies have always been. cause
- I mostly hear Denise singing the 1st soprano harmonies in the You Brought the Sunshine vamp but in the other songs it sounds like Karen is singing those harmonies alone. Speaking of the YBTS vamp at @6:28 also it sounds like Dorinda is holding down the middle and Jackie is holding down the bottom, I thought during those times it was the opposite, idk.
-Glad to finally hear Denise singing Balm In Gilead she sounded amazing.
@@JamaicanFlava audio from this era of the Clark sisters is AMAZING!! On YBTS Dr. Mattie Moss Clark was singing the bottom while Jacky and Dorinda remained on the alto. Prior to 1996 when Dorinda, Karen, Jacky and Twinkie came back together and Twinkie led Dorinda would sing tenor, not Jacky, if Dr. Clark was present she sang the bottom not if Twinkie was leading

@@jordanwynne6554 Ok thanks for the clarification I knew whoever was singing bottom didn't quite sound like Dorinda or Jackie. Couldn't hear Jackie in the middle part only Dorinda. Dr. Clark sounded great singing the bottom. And thanks I know Dorinda originally sang the bottom and Jackie in the middle when Twinkie lead just didn't know the year the switched parts.

@@JamaicanFlavaup until the 2000s Dorinda mainly did the switching between soprano and tenor when Karen and Twinkie lead. When Denise was in the group she mainly switched to tenor. Jacky was the primary alto until the mid 2000s. They still would switch around the One Last Time tour and then she started mainly singing tenor. But over the years they all have switched and sung all 3 parts where it was left open.

What separates her from her girls is the way she pronounces her words and her rasp is harder than Dorinda’s and her voice is lower than Dorinda’s. She has a dark color to her voice because she’s a true mezzo where as Dorinda is a soprano with a raspy voice. Dorinda’s voice is very light but with distortion.

Amazing ❤ i thought smile god loves you is from 1986 album heart and soul? Seems like they renmixed it tho.Great audio either way ❤ love rare footage/ audio from them. From then to present day they were never a vocal force to be reckoned with !!!! 🤯❤
It is from the 1986 album “Heart and Soul”. Sometimes the sisters sang songs that hadn’t been released on their albums yet. Some examples: They sang “Nothing to Lose” at UNAC 1979 (which is now AIM) months before the album came out. They sang Name It, Claim It for the movie “Gospel” (which filmed in 1981, releasing two years later) before it released on the Sincerely album in 82. I hope that clears it up. And also, there was a prototype version of Heart and Soul, but it was called “He’ll Turn Your Scars Into Stars” (1984) with all five sisters. Denise sung Balm In Gilead with Dorinda and Karen I think. It never got released, why, I don’t know.

@@TheOfficialJacobLassiter that album was scrapped so to record label issues, then they signed with word/rejoice records and recorded Heart & Soul, conqueror and bringing it back home. A round this time TWINKIE WAS A MASTERFUL MUSICIAN!!! Her production was top tier and her PLAYING WAS BANANAS!! Also she had her sisters in tiptop vocal shape!! Their vocals were STELLARS, but you can still hear the rawness in their vocals.
I love ,this group features all five sisters is there a part two of this my apostle mom was singing the mess out of Balm Gilead her tone with the group was definitely Unmatchable she could definitely lead vocally what a miss opportunity to hear more of her vocals sadly 😥.

help me brake this down because I have listened to this at 350 times and get decipher all of what is being said and who all is singing, I know Dorinda starts it off , then maybe Twinkie or Karen then Dorinda finishes it right before they go into Jesus Loves you.
I think that’s all Dorinda. Karen adds an extra “loves you” when Dorinda says it a second time. What exactly are they saying when everyone comes back in after that?
Yes it is majority Dorinda singing it, but I can distinctively hear Twinkie come in at 4:18-4:19 saying “God loves you”. Dorinda is saying “I wanna know if you really God Loves You, then all the sisters come in and say “Jesus Loves You”.
Sounds like I, I wanna know if you really know god loves you??..

Denise led the start of the verse. Karen came in with the high belted “oh” as she does on the studio recording and then Dorinda starts from the line “he healed the sick and he raised the dead…l
