... Lol. I was looking around for Aretha, and all the time, it was Twinkie doin her thing as usual... Wow! Thanks for sharing this. I love these types of rare scenes/rehearsals with the legendary Clark Sisters! They work so well together and seem so comfortable singing with a full orchistra and choir!
I think that was absolutely perfect for Dorinda to come in right behind Twinkie like that, especially the first go around. They know how to come in on one anothers note and then make it their own.
I thought I've seen every Clark sister video thats been published. Boy, what a treat!!!! Never thought I'd be jamming and praising God to "My Country Tis of Thee" and this was only rehearsal. I love all of them and their unique voices.
These ladies blazed a trail like no other. GOD given talents that didn’t go unnoticed. If they never sing again like this, they’ve already make their marks❤❤❤
I thought I knew this dong a d sang as a child. But the Clark sisters just clarified to me that I didn't ever and I can only here it in this arrangement now and forever 🥹😍🥹😍 FREEDOM,LET IT RING! AMEN !!! I LOVEMY COUNTRY and ILOVE THE CLARK SISTERS ❤❤❤❤
It's that RICH BOTTOM the tenor that Twinkie ALONE is singing @7:01-7:28💪🏿 The other sister that I ABSOLUTELY love her singing the bottom note or tenor note that's just as rich as Twinkie is back in the day was Dorinda. For some reason I enjoy Jackie singing Alto much better than tenor because the way she slurs and holds her words often going off the tempo but yet it just fits and sounds good also it just brings another dimension to the complexity of their harmony even tho Dorindas alto is the secret weapon to their harmony as Twinkies tenor is the foundation to their harmony. Is amazes me how Dorinda she always plays and sings around her note and mind you You have imagine hearing this for the first time done over 40yrs ago when this approach to signing had yet to be discovered and unheard of but yet it brought more body to their harmony. Not taking anything from Jackie's tenor but my personal preference I enjoy her singing alto because hers being so distinctive. Listen to some of their earlier work from the 80's and 90's Jackie singing alto and how it was very distinctive and noticeable. What y'all think? ***Written In Respect*** #MyFavTwinkie 👑
I totally agree with you about Jacky on alto. There something about it so pure & distinctive. It brings out her unique tone. I think she is the most powerful there. Like on the live version of Jesus Forevermore with the red dresses on. Hope you know the one I'm talking about.
@@inspectorbudgetYes, I absolutely know what you're talking and speaking about. At the time, Twinkie had left the group, and that particular performance you're referring to was when Karen, Dorinda, and Jackie sang in the red dress on Bobby Jones' Gospel. Yes, it was at this time when Jackie was a dominant alto, and it was Dorinda, in those days, who did the most switching. She would sing soprano, alto, or tenor wherever needed, but I love her voice most on tenor because it had almost just as much weight and depth as Twinkie's tenor. Jackie singing alto on that song, "Jesus Forevermore," was so distinctive and noticeable, and it just made their harmony sound better to me with her on alto and Dorinda on tenor, compared to today when Jackie sings tenor and Dorinda sings alto. Even though I understand why they're doing that, I don't know if you know, but Jackie can hit much lower notes than Dorinda can. Here's an example: on Dorinda's song "Jesus is the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me," a lot of people don't know that in the beginning when it starts by saying "I've had my share," a lot of people think that's Dorinda singing, but it's not because Dorinda could not hit that low note, on the word "share." That's actually Jackie singing that part, and Dorinda comes back singing "Of life's ups and downs." So again, Dorinda can't sing as low as Jackie, so I totally understand why Twinkie, in later years, moved Jackie down to tenor and switched Dorinda back to alto, and at times she'll sing soprano when Karen is leading, especially on the song "Hallelujah." Thanks for bringing back that memory of them singing in those red dresses. SN: I need to find out if they have a historian because if not, I would step up to the plate. There's so much history that a lot of these new Clark Sisters fans are not aware of that I know and have gotten this information firsthand, either from Jackie's mouth or from Twinkie in our phone conversations. I just might ask her when I speak to her again so she can bring it up to all the sisters cause it's important that their history be the truth and not assumptions or heresay. #MyFavTwinkie
Hey! I had to take this footage down because I received a legal injunction from the organization TBAAL and The University of North Texas, which own and did not license this footage for use on this platform. I'm not saying to take it down, but I'm just giving you a heads-up that the organizations will likely contact you as well!
I hate that they get discredited. Twinkie and the sisters call ALL sing! Common sense tells you that Twinkie will be foundation. She plays and writes for them. Each had a role in this group. It doesn't even matter that Karen and Dorinda had won Grammy and platinum record sales without her and that her albums did not do well. They are all anointed and trailblazers that should be each honored and respected!
Have you researched Twinkie or are you young? Twinkie had a successful solo career babes. Dorinda only Grammy has been with the sisters. Karen other Grammy came from Donnie. As of these last 10 years, the Clark sisters get all of the praise.
I was with you til we got the Grammys with Twinkie comment. I hate when ppl try to weaponize Grammys, awards and other things as a way to slightly put ppl down. Beyonce has many many more Grammys than the Clark sisters all together but that doesn’t doesn’t place her above The Clark Sisters. I think we should just stick to acknowledging how great everyone is. It’s so many ppl who have produced Grammy award winning work but doesn’t have them.
Also, technically Twinkie, Dorinda, and Karen were all nominated for at least one Grammy for a color project do there own. As well as several Stellars and Dove awards. lol they had successful solo careers as well as group
As a professional over 50 yrs this song doesn't need much rehearsal it's a universal song ,folks from the Black Church automatically know how to adlib on this song just let Go Let God ,don't rehearse the Vocalist ,just give the choir their parts like Tenor ,Bass ,Alto , Soprano,If there's A God in you that Spirit will musically shine . Trust me I know
Wait, yall didn’t know Twinkie Clark is the GOAT vocally? Are you kidding me?
Exactly!!!!!
Right
Right 🔥
Seeing Twinkie adlib and immediately jump back into her base harmony is magical
It’s clips like these that shows WHY TWINKIE IS THEEE 🐐 her vocals SUPERB!
Jordan she's a beast
This is the era of when TWINKIE and Karen would belt it out full force, Dorinda would come in as the secret weapon before Twinkie and Karen come back.

Excellent doctor Twinkie Clark And the Clark sisters
I did not realize Dionne Warrick was sitting on stage right behind them next to the conductor.
And talking mess to ol' dude with the hair. She said, "Don't worry about it. You go on back over there." LOL. I'm pretty sure that's what I heard.
@@SomeGuy-cw9rwyes, she said “let him” something lol.
thats embarrasing, imagine mis Warrick saying go over there
