I have a few temperature/humidity sensors from Aqara around my apartment. At first these would loose connection every few days for up to a few hours at a time. After installing the IKEA signal repeater and smart plug the sensors have only dropped a few times when their battery were running out.
Since I installed the smart plug and signal repeater at the same time I can't say if this improved stability is due the plug or repeater and at this point I'm too afraid to unplug either😂

I have the flip side of that. I have an Aqara motion sensor at the back side of my house that recently began misbehaving after many months of working perfectly. I also recently had to remove an IKEA Tradfri plug that was going bad.
Gee, I wonder if that could be related…?

      Hey Carl,
It actually sounds like you're up to date. This is a tutorial showing people how to do something, whereas my recommendations for a smart home won't always line up with content we've made on the tutorial front. My personal recommendation is that Aqara would be just fine. I'm also testing out Homey Pro, a much more expensive system and looking at a few others. I mentioned those in the video you're referring to, so you should be up to speed! :)

Question re: method 2 @automateyourlife - since it requires an Aqara hub anyway, can one not just use Aqara's routines to kick off activations/methods? What's the advantage (assuming one doesn't already have Smartthings) to having a Smarthings hub to replace/augment say an Aqara M2?
fwiw, my current scenario is I'm adding some Aqara sensors (FP2, water, etc) along with an Aqara M2 hub and plan to connect the M2 to Google Next hub - in this use case, would an Aetec Smartthings hub add any additional functionality?

Hard to explain in a single response, but yes...SmartThings adds features. It also adds 1000s of compatible products to your options. It's not that Aqara's app is < SmartThings in many ways. It's that Samsung >>> Aqara from a partnership standpoint

That's what I figured, and honestly what I would prefer currently.
Can you connect a ST hub and Aqara hub in a wired configuration or just wireless?

Well both Aqara M2 and Aeotec Smart Home Hubs can be wired, so in that case they are connected through your home's wired Ethernet network!

This isn't working for me. When I paste the matter code into smartthings, smartthings breezes through the first two dots, but then it hangs on the third dot indefinitely. It says "check the user manual for instructions". At this point it will never move past this screen. I've facort reset the M2 hub and reinstalled the Aqara app, but it just won't work.
If anyone can provide any help regarding this, I would greatly appreciate it.

I am facing the exact same problem (and literally just posted a comment here too). If you solve this, please let me know as I feel I have tried everything now. It gets stuck at "Prepare your device" screen. I've tried over multiple days now and no change.

Hey, great video as always. I cannot get any devices to come across to SmartThings after connecting my Aqara M2 hub (FW 4.0.6_0006.0646). I have connected to both my V2 and V3 Samsung SmartThings hub with nothing coming through for devices specifically other than the hub itself. I did connect it through matter as you have shown in the video but I never get any of the devices even though there are seven shown to be bridged accessories. I have tried deleting and re adding with nothing changing. I have the most up-to-date versions on both the V2 and V3 and the M2 of the software. Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated

That's an odd one for sure. I used to have this when Matter first happened and yeah, at some point it just started working right. I believe now it'll work no matter what kind of phone, but maybe just give both services a few days and see.
Otherwise what country are you in and what are you using for a phone?

I'm also a Canuck, I'm in AB. I'm using a Samsung S22 Ultra, also a Tab S7 +. I tried the integration about 2 weeks ago when you first posted the video with no luck so I removed deleted and then reinstalled the M2 hub into SmartThings and still on getting the same problem.

Just keep trying. Try another phone or tablet maybe too. Sometimes matter is finicky.
You could also try rebooting your network gear, but it's usually just a Matter issue.

Actually I have quite the opposite experience for Aqara. They make the least compatible, most non-compliant Zigbee products which are also outstandingly stubborn with what you can pair then with and how they behave. Also quite pricey for what you get. Using Aqara products for more then 7 months now and believe me the most issues I had were all Aqara or Xiaomi ones (Lumi makes both). The best brand on the field is TuYa who make their stuff decently compliant for for less than 5 times of the price while still maintaining outstanding functionality. I don't care about silky plastic finish as long as the functionalities are reliable.

    • @AutomateYourLife
      @AutomateYourLife  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

I think if you're talking about old stuff, ya. These days though, Aqara makes really high compatibility Zigbee gear
