I am 20 and both parents are on theit death bed, they never really thought me stuff involved with cleaning or taking care of the house, thank you for making these videos. Truly thank you!
My man here just gave a solution to a problem that’s plagued married couples for decades, gone are the days when one spouse would say “you’re loading it wrong! Let me do it”
Nobody loads it right cause theres countless ways to make things fit. I get frustrated too, but thats only cause I feel theres always a more efficient way
For the longest time I thought dishwashers never work, then I moved into a place where they bothered to hook up the hot water to the dish washer correctly and that's when I found out that most landlords are not only cheap, but also negligent.
This is more important than people realize, especially if you have an older dishwasher with racks you can't adjust. More than once I have run a load and discovered that everything was still dirty because something that was a little too tall kept the arms from rotating.
yes, put plastic on top. I work for a company that one of the things we produce is plastic drinkware and our warning says top shelf dishwash only. people don't seem to read the warning.
A word on dishwasher detergent and pre-wash. Using those detergent packs might look convenient but it's more expensive and worse-performing than powder or liquid detergent. Also, your dishwasher usually does a small pre-wash cycle before doing the full wash, and not adding detergent to that cycle can significantly reduce the performance of your dishwasher, as detergent packs don't allow for detergent in the pre-wash cycle unless you add an additional pack inside the dishwasher instead of the detergent holder; but be warned, that amount of detergent could be too much (yes, there is such a thing as "too much detergent"), so using powder or liquid would be a better option as you can control the amount you put and once you get used to it, it's really simple. Some advice: dishwashers assume that they're working with hot water from the start but that's usually not the case, so, before running your dishwasher, open the hot water faucet and let the water run until it's hot. After that you can start the dishwasher cycle. This will significantly improve your dishwasher's performance. Lastly, if the water in your area is too hard, you may want to consider adding a little bit more detergent or getting a water filter for your kitchen.
I learned from a video a while back that the detergent pods that people use are also using too much detergent for a majority of machines so it cleans less well
The plastic on the top rack instead of the bottom is only on older dishwashers. Newer ones no longer have the heating element on the bottom. If there is no heating element on the bottom you don't need to worry where you put the plastic. (From Bosch Users Manual)
If your dishwasher has a third rack use it for silverwear. If you're buying a new dishwasher get one with a third rack- it saves so much space and gets the silverwear and cooking utensil so clean.
This is actually helpful, I loaded bowls on the top shelf facing away from the center bc it gave me more space but some would still be dirty. I hopefully won't make that mistake again
I’m trying to teach my stepson (20) how to load the dw. I explain WHY I load things the way I do. The only thing I do differently (from you) is alternating direction of utensils. I tell him not to put all same height forks in the same square, for instance, to prevent nesting. Same concept, different method. People also overload the detergent, and don’t scrape off enough food scraps.
My mom always taught me to not only stagger the direction of the utensils, but not to have more than 2 of the same thing in a slot. Did it for 25 years...my wife and inlaws are less than thrilled lol.
Also, PUT DETERGENT IN THE PRE-WASH. Nobody does this anymore. They don’t understand that it has four cycles: pre wash(gets the rough stuff off) Wash(gets the rest off) Rinse And dry. You need soap in the pre-wash as well, but people don’t do this anymore. It got to a point where some dishwasher companies don’t even have a slot to put pre-wash in anymore
I have a hundred friends I am forcing to watch this video! When you get a new DISH-WASHER it comes with a user's manual which explains everything you just said. Only I, and my family, read that book. When you move into a place which already has a DISH-WASHER, if you have a cell phone, you can go online to read or download the owners manual. Next time you might also add that dishes do not need to be washed with soap and water before you put them in the DISH-WASHER... Or even rinsed off. Scrape off the cheese and wash the dish... It's a DISH - WASHER!! Either it does the job it was made to do, or it doesn't and you need a new DISH - WASHER! I'll get off my soapbox now, and thank you once again! 🥰😘
After a long trial and error, we figured out that the reason our dishes weren’t getting clean is because the silicone seal for the soap dispenser was inverted. Water was getting in and the soap was dissolving before the wash cycle. Flipped the silicone seal and boom, clean dishes again.

Yes the water recirculates so you need to clean the filter once a month even though technically they are self cleaning for most models.
I can't even figure out how to take mine out. 😮

For the longest time I thought dishwashers never work, then I moved into a place where they bothered to hook up the hot water to the dish washer correctly and that's when I found out that most landlords are not only cheap, but also negligent.
And the most important thing, always check that the dishwasher spray arms can freely rotate before starting the wash cycle.
This is more important than people realize, especially if you have an older dishwasher with racks you can't adjust. More than once I have run a load and discovered that everything was still dirty because something that was a little too tall kept the arms from rotating.
Omg I always wondered what the lid with holes in the utensil area was for now I know lol
Also make sure your water is hot. Avdish washer needs to be cleaned once in a while. Use a 1/4 c of citric acid per load if you have hard water.
Literally the king of content this guy is so good
