Kanye is an artist that you should nearly do full album reviews on a lot of his song have a lot to be broken down. Especially with his own struggles with mental health and bipolar disorder
This album, 808s and Heartbreak, was one of the most influential albums of the 2010s at the very least, it was the first to have such pervasive use of auto tune and heavy 808s. With out it you don’t have people like Juice, uzi, x, peep, and a bunch of the other newer rappers (some of mine, and your favorites). 808s was loved by many of the younger fans, which can be seen in their music, and really disliked by many of the older artists, leading to a big divide in old school vs new school hip hop. That might be somewhat what makes you like this Kanye song more that his others because it is more similar to the modern sound (like juice days, the best days)
Facts, couldn’t have said it better myself. 808s and Heartbreak is so iconic.. and heartbreaking. Genuinely such a sad album, but with little glimmers of hope speckled throughout. Street Lights sums this entire album up in a single song in my opinion. I don’t care what anyone says, that’ll always be my favorite Ye song. Perfect blend of utter melancholy, perspective, and yet still hope. “Things ain’t always set in stone”
I recently broke up with my girlfriend and I’ve been listening to this song non-stop since then. I can relate to these lyrics so well that it brings goosebumps to me when I listen to it. This is Kanye’s best song by far. She really was heartless…
loved this one!!!!! the album “ye” is pretty short and is directly about the impact of his mental health on his life! it would be cool if you did a whole listen through of that, even if just for members or something!!!
Kanye west is one of the most interesting persons of all time he is a genius in his own ways a lot of people hate him for his perspective and bc of his ego and narcissism but at the end of the day he’s just a man who is passionate about a lot of things!! Great reaction nonetheless
Well said. People also forget that there's the "We all self conscious, I'm just the first to admit it" side of Kanye. He's a complex human being like all of us. What you see is what you get because he's 100% real. Most famous and successful people are narcissists to some degree but at least he's honest about it and doesn't do this fake humility BS like so many others.
Heartless is one of Kanye's best heartfelt song. You could feel his pain and how heartbroken he was. Kanye has truly been a force to recon with. He's been through the wire for real. A super strong man.
I think one of Kanye’s best songs for your channel would be “I thought about killing you” it’s a weird song but super raw and you would have a lot to say about it!
"never see me again" is an unreleased kanye song, but there is an official version that was reuploaded on youtube. it was one of the last songs i listened to before i was going to end my life, and the track helped raise awareness for men's mental health and i think the song would be a great reaction for this channel. (i love your content tom keep up the good work!)
Yoo, that’s the last song Kanye wrote before leaving the country for awhile to Japan. After his mom dying, his lost engagement, and the public ruin/humiliation from the whole TS situation. Some people say it was just him contemplating quitting music, others say he was hinting at something much darker.. quitting life. Hard song to listen to when you really think about everything that was going through his head at that time, and the possible implications of the lyrics.
a lot of commenters seemed to forget to mention the backstory to this song and the album it comes from, “808s & Heartbreak” which could play a role in the many sad and melo themes of the album. In 2007, Kanye lost the person who understood him the most, his mother Donda West. After that, his fiancee also broke up with him (I’m not sure if this happened before or after 808s). What’s clear for me is that this is one of Kanye’s first introspective albums, one of many that he would create later in his discography.
This song is the song that really made me fall in love with music. It made me want to make music of my own even, this song was groundbreaking at the time. I was only like 8 or 9 when it came out.
Come to life is really deep and emotional song about kanyes mother who passed away. This is on a later album than heartless but 808s and heartbrake was created because he blamed himself for his mothers death and he just had a breakup with girlfriend so it was a tough period for Kanye.
Definitely recommend listening to more Kanye. He's such a complex person mentally and he conveys it in his music while also producing amazing songs to listen to. Try giving "blame game" a listen, it's a less popular song of his but it's extremely deep and I think you'd have a lot of insight on it. Keep up the good work!
Great job Tom! Hopefully tomorrow I’ll be able to write with 3 of my friends at Paisley Park to celebrate my 9 years after my injury. I’ll be rocking out and singing lyrics written by three of my friends!
This song makes me feel old lol. I'm only 18, but I literally grew up listening to this with my brothers and cousins, and now all of us are grown adults. Also just realized when making this comment that I was 4 Years Old when this song came out. I did not know it was THAT long ago lmao.
I had to pause the video to comment this. It just made me laugh when he was talking about the Jetsons and he said "when they were on I was there bro" 🤣It was just so smooth coming out and something that I would have said so I found that to be hilarious.

The feeling of love is a hell of a drug. When you feel love it floods your brain with dopamine that activates the reward/pleasure part. Love sometimes is compared to a pleasurable experience of euphoria similar to cocaine and alcohol. When you lose it or it isn't going well; feelings of withdrawal may occur.
The Campbell's soup cans are the art of Andy Warhol - one of the pioneers of pop art. One of those soup cans "Small Torn Campbell Soup Can (Pepper Pot)" sold for $11,776,000 back in 2006. Ever seen the trippy colored Marilyn Monroe pics? That's Andy Warhol. One of those pics sold earlier this year for $195 million making it the highest price achieved for any American work of art at auction. He also managed and produced The Velvet Underground and is credited for the saying "15 minutes of fame".
Tom I'm sorry for being absent on the comments lately, back to working long hours in the kitchen, this is an old time favourite of mine so thanks buddy ✌🏻
Sir I don't know if you'll read this but that part about loosing your soul to someone is devastating indeed... I was already depressed when meeting this woman she promised to be there for me and i am not someone who drags people down i am the type of person that smiles while he burns inside. She first gained my trust and then emotionally abused me. I have a difficult family with an alcoholic sibling. I had no outlet for 2 years i was battling severe suicidal thoughts while trying to hold my family together. I dont know what else to call what this woman did to me besides attempted murder. Anyway i survived i will always survive but i also recognize that it cant go on like this. I feel trapped, empty and hopeless. Love was my only hope for healing my emotional wound from childhood neglect and i gave up on the only thing that kept me going. Now i only live to not sadden my siblings and father. I think i need therapy but i need encouragement and understanding which the people around me that are supposed to care most about me lack entirely. I dont wanna feel like this anymore.
kanye from atlanta moved as a couple year old with him mother Donda West and he had a very lower class but education and manners focused upbringing. his career and music has shifted since the passing of his mother naturally but i believe he is against psychopharmacology due to the poor efficacy of the treatment he had

Violent Crimes is another one of Kanyes great deep songs. It's about raising a daughter and the worries a father could have.
