Just did my 2017 Legacy 2.5L yesterday with 115,000 miles. Replaced the belt, idler pulley, and tensioner. Super easy to get to and probably took me but 10 minutes!

No, you just can not drive the car. If timing belt breaks though, the engine or valves can be damaged

No, a broken serpentine belt will not damage the engine. You probably are thinking of the Timing Belt. That belt is much more difficult to change.

No, but you better not drive it. Alternator, power steering and water pump won't work.
