I get that Gaga is amazing at Pop songs , but it seems when she sings songs of this genre, it Reconnects something DEEP within her that brings out a whole different sound / vibe / form of Passion that we can’t experience / get anywhere else BUT from Gaga, & her Control with these songs are out of this WORLD!

I can see why so many people love her. She has a unique style but I couldn't get through her rendition of this. It seemed to be too fancy. But still, she's an amazing vocalist.

I agree it was a bit “over the top”.... but, something doesn’t seem right. I don’t know if it’s exhaustion or what it is… and she just seems to be acting a little bit strange. Makes me kind of wonder/worry a little bit. If you want to hear her belt out some good oldies… Look up her singing with her good friend, Tony Bennett. That will wow you. Promise
@@psalm9143 she split with her fiancé that year. she explains in the beginning why the song touches her so deeply, you can see she was extremely emotional and fragile in the end. also, she has fybromialgia, and maybe she was suffering with pain that day.

@@psalm9143 Plus she was doing two shows in Las Vegas, this one and Enigma, a pop concert. Sometimes she'd performed two days on a roll, so it was really exhaustive too.

As a jazz musician this made me kinda cringe. She's a great actor emotions and all, but Not the greatest singer though. But that's pop for ya
She is a much better singer than this performance. She’s been struggling vocally for the past year, and I’m more than sure she’s battling with something vocally as well.
She is definitely one of the greatest vocally. Judging a performer based on one performance is rather shallow, especially for a proclaimed musician. There is a reason why she is where she is and why many jazz legends respect her talent.
She has imho a strong voice but her style of over the top pop sounds overly dramatic a bit for this song. But that’s what she does to get 10,000 Vegas listeners to pay attention to the great Gershwin’s song so f it.
Definitely check out her other vocals. All of the studio and live vocals from the Cheek to Cheek era are a prime example of the crisp, clear, and tonally precise delivery she is capable of. She appears to be in some pretty real physical and emotional pain in this performance.
@@tyussheppard5391 okay, I'll go with maybe she isn't at her best in the moment. But I mean that is literally what you are judged on everyday as a performer. It is what ot is. This performance is the first of her singing jazz standards at that is my initial impression. It can change. Thanks to everyone for offering other things to listen to.
