Winter Smallmouth Bassfishing on the Potomac River!!!

- I got the chance to do some Winter smallmouth bass fishing on the Upper Potomac River with Jeff Greene from Shallow Water Fishing Adventures. We had one of those crazy Maryland February days with air temperature in the 70's, but the water conditions were less than ideal. A cold, swift and muddy river was a bad combo for winter smallmouth, but we made the most of it and kept the skunk out of the boat.

This is awesome because I know Jeff since his brother and I played sports together growing up. Great guy! Also, I just started making vids too and one of my first ones is wading the Potomac around Little Falls area. I might give Jeff a call and get out on the river with him soon.
The Potomac River used to have Peregrine Falcon nests on it. Is there a lot of rocky cliff formations that river runs through?

Hey so I thought of you other day. I have been using the Stradic Ci14 + for about 4 years. I wanted to try something diffrent so I switched up to a Daiwa Tatula lt spinning reel. Man it’s so smooth & half the price. Check it out when you can it’s on my Dobyns champion extreme 742.... it’s also lighter then the Stradic...

That first fish is a fallfish....not a chub...And don't lift a bass horizontally by the jaw. Poor handling.

Ceciltucky Outdoors chub or sucker is the same name for the same fish. They are all over the creeks and rivers of MD
Chubs dont get that big. It;s a fallfish as said. Different species. They have normal mouths, not down turned like a carp or sucker

Technically calling it a chub isn't incorrect. Fallfish are in the minnow family (true minnow subfamily) and in the chub genus. Although I think they look more like giant minnows since their mouths aren't downturned like a creek chub. They're also fairly aggressive, not just combing the bottom for food.
