I'm a music education major and I understand her technique of making sure that everyone hears her every consonant however there are many ways to do this without destroying the culture that it was written for.
Charlie Dickerson look just because she doesn't sound like the track doesn't mean you go and judge her .This is not a easy song to sing any person can tell you that and it's a concert not a broadway show she was making it fun for her so let the girl sing the song the way she wants too I believe it was amazing she has a good voice and good emotion so I really don't like how your judging her because she's singing it to fast or that she doesn't sound like the track .
The song has no culture it's ment for a African American woman to say I'm going to love myself no matter what a men or women tells me it's a song about loving who you are so for you to say she's destroying the song just because she not sounding like that track is very messed up . She got up on the stage and sang the heck out of the song and had fun while doing it . Do you know how hard it is to get up on stage and sing I don't think you do . So before you so judging people say you should think before you speak
The voice is good, however I need her to look more into singing the song with the dialect that it was truly written for. In those days everything wasn't articulated by the people and her intonation isn't the best.
