Dooku definitely had good intentions at first, but with his desire for forbidden knowledge of the dark side, he was already on thin ice. Palpatine whispering in his ear basically doomed him to corruption. The guy was good, but he's no Revan. He wasn't gonna find balance.

I feel like Dooku actually thought he was doing the right thing in order to make the galaxy better even if it meant being evil and harsh at times. The dark side did blind him which is why he became a sith but he always did have good intentions even sometimes as a sith

In Legends EU barring no direct tie ins with CGI TCW like The Son Of Dathomir, Ahsoka, The Mandalorian, Rebels, The Sequel Trilogy, Dark Disciple, Tales Of The Jedi, ETC which are actually more Canon then Legends Dooku was a more well rounded personality and more reserved and sophisticated as well as classy and fresh. Way more powerful and skilled and brilliant in Legends then in Canon both in potential and current power uppings so that is it yeah.

How I see it is that Dooku’s og plan was to just use the dark side to get he wants (wanting to destroy both them and the republic and create his own empire) however since the dark side is so consuming, he later became simply a pawn in Sidious’s eyes to get the chosen one on his side

Nearly unbeatable against Jedi in traidtional combat (save for Yoda himself), Dooku became more powerful than any of the jedi, although unable to ever surpass his old jedi master.
The canon novel Dark Disciple teaches us that the only way to defeat Dooku is through the use of anger, fear and hatred. Using fire against fire, there then is a chance to defeat Tyranus.

Yeah, no. He's not a deep character and you said it yourself near the end. It's not just in the Clone Wars where he is 100% evil, in Episode 2 he's working with the Death Star plans, in Tales Of The Jedi it turns out he was helping Palpatine even before Qui Gon's death, in every single piece of media he appears in, he's obviously evil. And he's not the political idealist people make him out to be either. Like yeah, I'm sure guys like Nute Gunray and Wat Tambor, his friends, are better leaders than the "corrupt politicians of the Republic". He's a tyrant, like his name suggests, a very typical member of the rulling class, surrounds himself with the elites, has no interest in ordinary people, they're like ants to him that you can step on and kill. A completely one dimensional, boring character, people only like him because he was played by Christopher Lee in the movies. (And I love the prequels btw, but you just can't ignore some of this stuff).
There are interesting characters in Star Wars, who sometimes cross the line, like Quinlan Vos in the comics, or A'Sharad Hett, who does become a Sith lord, but Dooku? No, he decides that since the Republic and the Jedi aren't perfect (which is true), he's gonna join the people who are even worse, not just corrupt, but also fascist and genocidal. He's an idiot, like Anakin when he's talking to Obi-Wan on Mustafar saying that the Jedi are evil.
Oh, and the power criteria is completely irrelevant, Rey would be the best Star Wars character, because she's the most powerful, she never loses.

I believe that dooku, when he started the separatist alliance, he had a good cause and while the time passed he became more and more corrupt because of Palpatine and the dark side, and that's why he was like that in the clone wars.

Dooku's 3 episode arc in Tales of the Jedi was fantastic. Gave so much depth to his character. The entire series was a amazing.

What I find good about Dookus character is that unlike Anakin, Dookus motives are more inspirational. He wants to do good while Anakin falls because of his love which is relatable Dooku falls because of his need to change the galaxy

My interpretation of Dooku:
A Jedi who wanted to do good, but couldn't do so while aligned with the Jedi and Republic. So he joins Sidious and the dark side to remake the Republic. However, the dark side always corrupts its users (except Sidious, who may as well have been the avatar of the dark side), and eventually, the desire for power overpowered all else. The promise of power corrupts even the noblest of intentions.
Dooku's story is part of why I love him, alongside his sense of style, his usage of my favorite Lightsaber Form, Makashi, and my favorite lightsaber design in the series. He's currently in my top 3 (alongside Anakin and Ahsoka), and at this point he may very well be #1, though I'm not 100% sure yet.

I disagree with you saying that clone wars Dooku is not in his character or he’s a pure psychopath in clone wars I honestly loved him in the clone wars yes he is evil and a douchebag but he’s more than that instead of acting like most Sith he never lets his anger consume him he acts calm and mellow. And obviously he’s ruthless but what do you think it’s going to happen if Palpatine’s orders are not completed or he disobeyed he would be tortured by Palpatine himself Palpatine has done this with every of his apprentice’s so obviously he would act like this. An even when he kills there’s no sadism nor enjoyment out of killing he loves battle that’s for sure but he even liked battles and combat in the movies getting thrill out of it which I love about his character. Also his goals while evil have good justifications the hatred he got out of the Jedi was justified but his plan was to rule the galaxy with no corruption or indifrence always attending to the needs of the people of the galaxy. Also like most Sith apprentice’s Dooku had no real loyalty to Sidious he seemed like that because he feared the repercussions of disobeying his master there’s no real care for him although I do think out of the apprentice’s Dooku is the most loyal since Sidious’s goals align more with his own goals. So yeah Dooku’s charachter didn’t get worse in the clone wars it expanded his charachter and even improved it imo. Hope this change’s your mind

Dooku is one of the worst characters in fiction
I really believe that the two biggest problems with the Clone Wars tv shows is how it portrays not just Grievous, but also Dooku. Because it has him trying to kill baby Jabba, lol. I mean like Dooku was behind Padme's assassination and he chopped off Anakin's arm too, but he would've been more morally pure than that. With maybe being slightly more angry. Major downgrade in morality and overall persona.

@@Jedwerd That's because the actor Christopher Lee played Dracula in the 1958 movie. George Lucas quite literally made Count Dracula a Sith Lord in Star Wars. Peter Cushing [Grand Moff Tarkin] also played the protagonist in that same movie

Ok, Mabye not best. Like Personalty doesn’t mean Everything that they are best. Also he isn’t the main character in any piece of Star Wars content that makes it down to 9/10. It also makes no sense how Obi wan better than anakin but does nothing against Dooku, While dooku lost to anakin. 8.7/10I don’t know. Doesn’t make much sense. Also I don’t understand when Count dooku’s character changes from betraying and killing people and then having good reason to do something you are ok with it, but WHEN BOBA CHANGES YOU GET MAD AND PUT HIM BELOW BOSSK AND AURA.

it's even more interesting in the EU, he left the jedi after qui gon died and he had his dark acolytes, skoor, sora bulq, kamori vosa and more. The dark side twisted him so much that by the ROTS novel, he had some xenophobic and dictator like views and he fell after truly trying to do good and save the galaxy. PLAGUEIS even feared him as a duelist and wise master bcuz he saw thru the corruption of the republic and chose to master form 2 and wasn't blindly following the senate unlike the other jedi at the time. In dark rendezvous, yoda complimented him saying he was the ordr's greatest loss and he almost bought dooku back from the dark side but anakin and obi wan showed up :(

count dooku deserved more screentime, maybe surviving after order 66 as an enemy of the empire? siding with the jedi since he wasn't as dark side affiliated as alot of sith
Christopher lee is actually the descendant of Charlemagne, a famous French king during the Middle Ages. Dooku's lightsaber hilt is actually derived from Charlemagne's sword.
Honestly, you can kind of understand him. He believed the Republic was corrupt, which it was. He initially led the Separatists for a cause that was just, but that cause was twisted by Sidious as time went by.
Not to mention Christopher Lee was the perfect choice for Dooku, fking loved Count Dooku and without a doubt one of the coolest characters in Star Wars. He was one of the only Jedis that was close to being a true Jedi but fell juuuuuuust enough to the dark side.
Since Dooku appeared secondary in most of season one (except for the Dooku Captured arc) I kinda wish he was more like Sidious was in season 1. Appears once or twice, but doesn't really do much. That way, when the Clone Wars was able to get into the more mature, gray area of war, he could be much more simpathetic, but as is, by the time they got to that point, he was already really well established and they couldn't really do anything at that point. Since Dooku is my favorite, I also find this regrettable.

But! In episode 2: He says, that he fights the republic because the senate is controlled by a sith called darth sidious. Later in the same movie he says he will return to his master sidious. Therefore he actually knows about and schemes with palpatine all along which males him less likeable right away.
Also teh Jedi always spout off about "Bringing Balance to the Force, yet they only ever represent the side of light. Honesty shouldn' tan orgnization that is all about "Balance" have some Darkside members wiht them?

The name of the game is to specialize and in order to specialize you need to stick to one field and be the best at that one thing. So this idea that dooku was trying to be well. Rounded is false.

Why would dooku become an apprentice of Palpatine though? That makes no sense really. He has been a jedi master for decades by this time. I doubt there is much Palpatine knows that dooku doesn't.
