Learned something new today. Always wondered what the "big end" was in an engine. Now i know! When we were driving back from lake tanganika to ndola in the 80s in our little fiat 125, our big end went. Luckily we were in convoy and got towed back the rest of the way. Happy days... Staying tuned in to see how your grandad's bike turns out...👍
My first bike was ab ariel 350 girder fork hard tail dual exhaut from 1 valve. Learned a bit with tha one. Was supposed to be a 1946 unit but who knows. Owned in 1959
Apart from the ‘language’, a nice video, and a VERY interesting bike. Are you not tempted to keep it running on alcohol and use it in VMCC events, at least as a ‘parade bike’, as it surely has “history”? I’ll take a chance on subscribing, as I want to know how it turns out. Regards, Les
Nah, I want to use it as a daily rider and running on methanol will be too Impractical for that. The rest will stay relatively unchanged apart from tidying a few bits up, so will still be in the race bike setup - and entered into a load of events.

Dang. Saw the title and was hoping it was an Ariel square four. Saw a few of those at the Buddy Stubbs motorcycle museum in Phoenix, Arizona.

@@TotalLossCycles ah, as a ‘daily’ you certainly need petrol! Looking forward to next steps then. Les
