    Splitting the G is the most influencer thing you have ever done! Would have loved this even more with more of the Guinness ads cut in - definitely do a Guinness reaction vid

    Even as a kid the sight of a Guinness in adverts looked like a coffee or a chocolate drink with whipped cream on top, it’s the only beer that interested me back then.
    And when I was old enough to drink it I was massively disappointed.
    Guinness is not as good as it looks.

    Whenever I think of a beer advert, the first thing I think of is the John Gilroy toucan. It just has a cool factor that I can't explain. Something about a tropical bird carrying a stout beer makes me smile. A true classic in advertising

    So back in the late 70's my dad had glandular fever, and had a crate of Guinness prescribed to him by the NHS doctor to build him up again.. it was a weekly prescription!!.

      No way. Not sure there is any world in which that could be considered healthy!

    Don't forget marketingwise how Guinness managed to become associated with Ireland or 'Irishness' in general worldwide. Don't know whether the Irish loved Guinness THAT much in earlier times, but a great marketing success either way.

    The quintessential safe pint in any pub... If you can stomach it.
    Delicious when poured properly, decent when badly poured.

      Weirdly i feel the opposite. Like most lagers will usually taste the same, whereas guinness can vary so wildly in texture and flavour. I had one this week that looked great - left to stand between pours, lovely dome, but had this nasty sourness to it. Also most UK pubs serve extra cold which makes it borderline unpleasant to drink, and flavourless too. IN the UK I'll generally only drink it in an Irish pub with a good reputation for it...

      Yes, I did experience the ice cold Guinnesses that needs 10min to warm up but out of the millions of pints I drunk, the bad ones are far and few between... Maybe I've been lucky...

    Longest car in the world was still held as late as my newest copy of the Guinness book of world records by the Bugatti Type 41 Royale, at over 6m long. It was included in the list of "unbeatable records" in one of the books.

    Didn't know about the t-test, nice factoid to bring up at the pub next time

    • @rbrwr
      @rbrwr วันที่ผ่านมา

      William Sealy Gosset (Student) was one of those Oxbridge mathematicians that Guinness loved so much. He had to publish the t-test under a pseudonym because the brewery didn't want the rest of the industry knowing what they were up to. I also love this line from his Wikipedia article: "Gosset was a friend of both [pioneering statisticians] Pearson and Fisher, a noteworthy achievement, for each had a massive ego and a loathing for the other."

    The marketing discussion brought back a memory from my childhood. Back in the early 60's there used to be a Guinness clock, featuring the toucan and seal among other things on Bridlington sea front, and if I can remember correctly, at 1:00pm it would chime. People would wait for it to happen as it was a big animatronic event, things moving and turning and to a little boy it was a thing of wonder. At that age I had no idea what it was about but no doubt the parents watching suddenly had the urge to find a pub for a pint.

    Guinness is the ultimate safety pint, that or a standard cider. That being said, I once had such a terrible Guinness bought for me in a pub, that after one sip, made me walk home and abandon the night out entirely…

    Always loved the “Brilliant” campaigns they ran … stop motion paper cutout style. Gotta give it to them, epic and memorable adverts for sure. Got a mate who loves Guinness enough to name his dog and tattoo the harp over his heart … which might be a tad more than me

    Great video. “Tick follows tock follows tick follows tock” with kelpie like horses charging as waves and lofi drums pounding has lived with me as one of the great screen art pieces since I first saw it as a child. Incredible advert.
    Although- is standard Guinness more of dark mild than a stout these days? Discuss…

    It's kind of the Mcdonalds of the beer world. Wherever you are, you know what you'll get.
    In many country areas here in Australia it's a choice between the state mega swill or Guinness.
    Sometimes Guinness is the best option.😁
    Oh, and Brad, how could you sit there for half an hour without taking another sip? I guess you're not a fan. Cheers guys!

    Unfortunately the alot of the Guiness world records have to be taken with a pinch of salt. The ones where advertising it as the record holder can increase sales volume. In that regard Guiness World Records is effectively a marketing company and the highest bidder can buy the record. There has been loads of issues in the chilli pepper comminuty with first the Corolina Reaper snd now Pepper X being classed as the hottest peppers holding the GWR fot highest Schovile Units, but loads of chilli heads saying they have had much hotter peppers than both. The ones where subjectivity can play apart maybe up for sale it seems.

    I used to get great pints of Guinness at a pub here. At the end of the pour the bartender would make a shamrock in the head! What I call a proper pint! And remember the TV shows for Guiness World Records? I remember watching it in the late 70s as a kid, not knowing what Guiness was. By the 90s, boy did I know Guinness!

    • @TheCraftBeerChannel
      @TheCraftBeerChannel  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      This is not an issue. It comes from a time when people would reuse their glasses, which makes not dipping the tap a perfectly valid request. But these days, glasses are not re-used which means only beer touches the outside of the tap - just like it touches the inside. Dipping the tap is actually VITAL to many pours - including UK cask ale and Czech pils pours. Nothing wrong with it - it just needs hygienic cleaning like the insides of the taps. In fact, it likely gets cleaned more often.
