    You can not find a better overall machine and production material eg build quality than BMW bikes! I owned a 2016 Kawasaki Er6N which when I bought had 2800km, when you looked underneath the bike on the frame etc you could find rust spots and weak leg pads, weak gas pedal etc... then I bought a 2005 BMW K1200R with 29.000km it was a beast with 3 year old spark plugs which ran flawlessly! A beast of a bike! The build quality was speachless!.

      You clearly overestimate horsepower. The RC213 is 188kg fully fueled (and that's with headlights and other road-legal things) and makes the same power (215hp) as the HP4 Race. The chassis and handling of the RC213 will more than make up for the ~17kg weight deficit. But then again, it's also a lot more expensive.

    BMW can mass produce these frames! this is amazing news for us normal people - it means that in the not too distant future carbon fibre frames won't just be confined to exotic, limited run bikes. We might one day see these on our run of the mill street bikes. damn I love technology.

    • @jponz85

      Carbon fiber will still be expensive as companies know it's much lighter than any other source used. 15yrs ago carbon fiber goods were expensive, today? They're just as expensive

    The headstock of my S1000rr metal frame snapped just from some dickhead who knocked it off its stand when it was parked in front of my house...needless to say he did a runner before i got there. Cost an absolute fortune to fix, covered by insurance. Otherwise a brilliant bike.

  • @plusRpm
    @plusRpm 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Now, i thought this was pretty much the best trackday motorcycle for the better part of 2 years now. But i‘ve recently seen many of these up close and i have worked with and designed carbon fiber parts for about 3 years now, which isn‘t that much but enough to get an idea for quality. I‘ve now seen 20 of these to be precise (let‘s just say our bmw dealer bought a bit of a stock) and FFS, the carbon fiber of these frames is what i would call a mishap at best and a total failure at worst. They have distorted fibers, large amounts of leftover resin, they have designed the rear frame in such a way that they have to cut into the frame down to the core and the rear part of the frame has parts where - at least the outer layer - cannot be functional anymore due to the massive distortion of the fibers. I have never in my life made something this bad and didn’t throw it away afterwards and i wouldn‘t come close to charging 80k€ for it. This is quite honestly a bad joke.

    Great video, bike seems like a blast but its kind of a shame you can't ride it on the road...and how does it still not have a full color display when ducati has had one on their STREET bikes for like 6 years now. haha

      @seanstevens-ds5fk 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Even WSB bikes don't have colour displays. They're made by 2D and their sole purpose is to display important data. None of that fancy tft stuff needed here! Got to agree wit you about riding it on the road though

    An amazing bike, how they can mass produce that frame I do not know. It's kind of like a Britten V1000 but nearly 30 years later. The Britten was 138 kg wet and 166 Hp. The BMW is 33 kg heavier but has 49 Hp more. Amazing what was achieved in a shed in NZ so long ago. I guess the extra weight of the BMW would easily account for all the electronics it carries nowadays.

    Question - Is the transmission reverse on this bike compared to most road going bikes? It looks like he is pushing the shifter down to shift up in gears and pulling up to shift down. If so, is this common on race bikes?

    I swear that traction control is the most beautiful sound i've ever heard on a bike. The undertail shot at around the 9:00 mark sorta sounds like the intro to "hot for teacher" hahaha. It's so unintrusive it seems. It just cuts fuel and spark flawlessly to give the exact amount of power strokes to keep traction steady. I thought my new R1 had trick electronics.............jeez, it has NOTHING on the HP4 Race. Then again, i can drive mine on the street and track and the engine lasts longer than 5,000 KM. Idk if he said that but every 5,000KM the engine must be replaced. Cost? ~$25,000!

    Lighter bike = small displacement engine having more "bang" for it's buck = potential for 400/600cc racers in the future (?) = better fuel economy. I'd be super keen for a 400cc bike with the weight of a 125cc & the power:weight ratio of a 600/1000...

  • @ehsan83
    @ehsan83 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Now that bike producers are hitting the 200hp door and more hp doesn't make sense when the bike should stay limited at 186mph looks like BMW and Honda both focused on the next important subject : the weight.
    As exciting the H2 and H2R appear they have two issues : heat and weight. It is kind of useless to have more power and add more weight at the same time.
    Again Honda and BMW's vision was better than Kawasaki. Make more usable what you already have rather than adding more power 👍🏼

    Love the Bike, the review and the enthusiasm of the reporter. 1 thing I don't like and never will, when riding around track they put a camera under seat pointing forwards so all we can see is top of tyre, hugger and rear suspension. Come on guys, that gives no sense of speed, or even anything decent to see except the underside of the bike. NO Matter how beautiful it may be, it isn't exciting or the best side of the bike is it???

    Who actually disliked this video... Regardless of whether you like BMW or Motorcycles in general, this is an engineering marvel!

    WSBK- Althea BMW, really needs it and better track support-hopefully it will make them more competitive in the years to come

    That bike is just nasty to the core. Why no carbon swing arm like the Duc ??
    The suspension breaks.....holy shit big money !!

    It is not mindblowing by any means. In 1994, the Britten weighed something like 138kg and made 166hp.

    Aprilia rsv4 fw gp is better and my choice cos of the engine but I'd need to ride them both to actually say which I prefer but from pictures and stuff aprilia is my favourite

    Good stuff. but having road raced to for 15 years and to the top level in my country, thats one frame you wont be taking to the straightener after a big off. Would hate to think how much a new one costs. Im sure its way stronger and able to flex without distorting, but if the bike cartwheels on the grass and lands on its nose as they often do... sheeeeeeet.

    The only cons about this bike is that it looks exactly the same with S1000RR
    It would have been better if it had different name and design

    The exhaust sound indicates not optimum tunning at some conditions, and seems like fuel injection cuts off in some cycles.
    Bringing this up should gain power, efficiency accel and speed.

    To my taste, BMW color combo is not cool in this bike. Maybe they need to consult Italian designers.
    I could probably reach a nicer combo.

    Amazing machine. So glad BMW puts their money into R&D on this bike because they seem to set the trend of tech that all other manufacturers have to follow lest they fade away, and that helps push the limits of what is possible on two wheels

      Its not the first carbon fibre bike and its not even street legal. I am not sure this is a step forward really, but its an amazing bike for sure. Gorgeous and fast.

    Awesome bike, shame SBK don’t allow carbon fibre frames or wheels, otherwise they’d be up the front with this bike

    Although yamaha r1m is a track focused bike which you can ride on the streets both suzuki and yamaha should make a limited edition track focused machine as other brands have already started doing it

    I got happy thinking that a 170kg bike is possible, now just needs lightweight headlights and road rego.
