Upon merely seeing cuphead I thought that the devs must have played this as kids. I feel so fucking old.
Not a single now a days will even know what a ps one, ps2, ps3, psp, ds, gba, gbc, gc, xbox, 360, wii, wii u or 3ds are which is sad same with the Sega consoles and the NES and SNES. I remember this game and it being rather difficult haven’t played it for years

One of the PS1's hidden gems I feel, hard as nails, but such an excellent platformer. It was way too hard for me to play as a kid, but now I can appreciate it, I'll have to try it on hard mode one day.

how someone can run straight through this game, while I already struggled the first minutes and never could fully complete it
Oh god, this game's difficulty completed altered my gaming reflexes as a kid. The Mad Doctor presented challenges that I rarely faced before. When I found out that it was originally a 16 bit game, I the difficult design made a lot more sense to me. But somehow they made this game even harder with extra sections in Mickey and the Beanstalk and The Prince and the Pauper. It's still a fun platformer though. The controls are tight, and the environments are colourful, giving the game a lasting appeal for me.
Back in the days I got pretty far before I ran out of continues and could never finish the game.. So much nostalgia just listening to the music! Glad to finally see someone finish the game!
This game was brutal af to beat for me back in early 2000s, but i freaking love it to this day!

I JUST THOUGHT ABOUT THIS GAME AND HOW I PLAYED IT OVER 10 years ago and I HAVE FOUND IT YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY
It took me ten years to finish this damn game on "hard". It really is much harder than you would expect. I've never managed to find Band Concert Mickey, though, but I guess you don't need him to finish the game. I had two main problems: The first one was the third level of Prince and the Pauper, especially the part that starts at 37:36 because I simply never figured out that I had to actually stay on the moving platform instead of jumping right off. Then there was the fifth level of Prince and the Pauper and those damn chains at 43:18 because I once again jumped straight off instead of waiting for the damn third chain to come into reach. Then there's Pete, but I managed to beat him with relative ease, especially considering it took me about ten years to get to him in the first place.
Of course, I'm sure I would have figured out all those problems relatively easily if I was able to fucking save the game! But this is one of the few games where "Game over" really means "Game over" and you have to start all over again! Usually when that happened, I had zero motivation to go through all that bullshit again, so I just tried again in one or two months. Sometimes, I even waited for half a year before trying again because I knew this game would frustrate me to no end. Trial-and-error gameplay is all well and good, but if you can't save the game it becomes extremely annoying. I'm sure I could have finished this game in just a few days if I always immediately tried again after the dreaded "Game Over" sign appeared on the screen, but who has the motivation for that?
However, it is really weird that now I can finish the game in just a bit over an hour, even though it took me what feels like thousands of tries to actually get there. Just about a week ago, I finished this game for only the second time in my entire life, even though I've had this game for 15 years. That says it all, really. This game is really frustrating. And it was a really close call as well. I had zero lives left and only about two fingers or so when Pete finally kicked the bucket, after what seemed like an eternity.

Congratulations! I never managed to pass The Prince And The Pauper. Probably some time in the future. I managed to get to the final part where Pete attacks you himself, but it was too hard for me to pass.

+Fabian Henze I used to play both when I was a kid. Both games were ridiculously hard, but this particular game didn't offer any way of saving the game, which made it all the more frustrating. It took me 6 years to finish the first Rayman game and 10 years to finish this Mickey Mouse game. Games used to be much harder back in the days. Now I can finish any new game in just a few days.

There is a music error in this game. The music in the loading screen is the music that is played in the level intro, and the music in the level intro is the ending music.
Most likely an emulation fault.
Forget the rest of the game, the intro was good enough for me.
If you wait for ALL the boxes to stack at Steamboat Willie, you will skip all th way to lonesome ghosts.
And here I was always doing that since the very beginning so I never saw the other begin parts of the game really lol

I knew of a SNES and Sega CD version (while having the Genesis cart), but I've NEVER seen a PlayStation version until now.
Wow, Genesis was the only system that I played this on, but I wasn't aware that they made a seemingly superior version for the PS1. Really convenient, because I can just buy this and put it in my PS3, and not buy another system.

Genesis version is the best version of all,SNES version lost a complet level and it has loading screens,the Sega CD/PSX version music is meh compared with the Genesis version,the only good thing about the PSX/Sega CD version is that extra level before the final Boss,but that level is pretty easy and boring

O_o way back in March of 98 I got a very bad strep infection that landed me in the hospital for a week. I was in 3rd grade and turning 9 in a couple of months. This was a children's hospital so to cheer me up they brought me movies to watch while I was bedridden, and video games to play, and there was a little activity room if I felt up for going in there to play games on the computers or Pacman. This was one of the video games I selected. I very clearly remember it. I don't think I got past the first level though.
