I just wanted to say thank you! I'd been having a pixellation issue when trying to record after getting a higher resolution monitor, and now everything is crisp and clean! I still have no idea what fixed it, but I'm thrilled to be able to make videos again!

Try using Common FPS to 30
change it to fractional FPS Value and make Numerator 60 and Denominator 1 for a consistent 60 fps no matter what PC. i have a terrible PC with an un updatable AMD Radeon HD 6900 that can barely run games let alone record but this works well for me.

Dude you saved me so much on figuring this out. My oculus quality and audio quality is amazing now. everyone I watched with tutorials showed it at a lower resolution scale and file save quality. finally i can record.
The only video on this subject that actually helped with my problem lmao. Tinkering with OBS is a hassle but I finally figured out how to get my videos to look acceptable. Thanks

@@t.s.uthesovietunion2585 yt usually compresses things, i recommend to you to render video at 1440p, this stops yt compressing it that way. (This may not be the your problem, but it happened to me with high movement videos: fps games and transitions)
When I'm recording I don't have lag or fps drops, but when I finish the recording and then look at the video it's like 4fps

I would check the renderer in the options, set it to the graphics card if it isn't already.

INFO/CORRECTION: If you use the same Resolution for BASE and OUTPUT (video minute 5:10) the BEST Downscale-Filter for you is actually BILINEAR, as it has the by far best performance and will in fact NOT cause problems as long as you don't actually downscale (same Resolution for BASE and OUTPUT).

the file sizes are so huge when i use the cqp setting. even with cq level of 25 the file size is enormous. When i used my old setting of CBR the file size was half the size when the video was twice as long. recorded the same footage.

I had to run it as an administrator to not lag and it still doesn't look like cutting edge recordings. Specs: i7 9700k rtx 3070
My monitor is super weird and its a 16:10 ratio instead of a 16:9 ratio like everything else, so i'm super confused on how to make that work

Whenever I'm in the middle of recording my fortnite I dont lag but when I finish the recording I check it out and then the clip lags a lot and I use the same settings as you except for the monitor settings my monitor settings are 1920x1080 and I dont know how to fix the lag, please help me I've been trying to fix it for almost a year.
have you got vsync turned off? just figured out that you will only get a smooth recording with vysnc on because obs uses GPU so if your GPU is going all out on a game it will struggle with the recording...shit really because im trying to do benchmark vids
@Timaster Vsync will be in the graphics options of each game, unfortunately though Vsync caps your FPS to your monitors refresh rate, its not too bad if you have a high refresh rate monitor like me but still not good if your trying to do benchmark videos for youtube
In the Video settings in OBS your downscale filter is probably set to Lanczos, which will definitely cause your recordings to skip if your pc can't handle it

Whenever i record games it will stutter and I don't know how to fix it
Edit: I found it out, I installed obs v24 because Games have obs v24 whitelisted for their anti cheat so you can record it in game capture. Game capture Works because it has this skip framerate thing.
Also I dragged the game capture on top screen capture so I don't need to hide it evey time when I don't want to record a game
It wasn't a problem with my PC I can get 120 fps and my resolution is 3440x1440 for my output and input (since that's my monitor)
A comment that I looked at was Kales thanks, you want to have your frame rate the same for when you play and record. Game capture has this thing where you can check auto skip or something like that
If you have a good PC just go into the video tab and make the fps match ur in game whole recording, until they both match.

Try to update your drivers and if you already have, switch to the studio version of the driver
when i launch the game and i am reecording it is lagging a little bit and when i saw my video it is lagging to much... my pc is fresh and has GTX1660 SUPER OC
What game are you playing? the 1660s are a pretty scuffed line from nividia and depending on what you're setting are set to it will lag. also if your bitrate is over 3000 and have upload speeds through your ISP of 3 mbs (very common in household plans) you will have issues with overall stream quality since streaming is upload speeds and not download speeds. I'd recommend lowering setting or upgrading your ISP but if you can give me a list of your games that you stream i can assist you with optimizing them
